@Kamran Khan Seeing the undead version of Dr. Strange being bullied by skinny shadowy shades sucking the life out of him while his body is convulsing isn't really on the same level of family friendly as Spider-Man: Homecoming. We see Boltron's head explode and just fall to the ground mushy and bleeding from the nose. The scenes were the bleeding and limping Wanda chases Strange, Christine and America Chavez is pretty scary too, imo. I think that the horror part of the film clearly is present and obvious. Now whether it scared you or not is not the point. It didn't scare me but I still clearly saw the intent in the creation of a horror atmosphere.
And that's what makes this such a unique film. It's not a superhero movie or hell even a Dr. Strange movie ... persay. It's an Evil Dead film. Raimi was let off his leash and thank god for that.
I hope so badly that we get more of this darker, crazier, power fantasy that is Dr. Strange. Him overcoming the demons and using them as a cape was absolutely one of the coolest things I've ever seen in any Marvel movie to date. I really hope for more movies like this one.
They're not the spirits of the damned. They're spirit beings that serve Death and punish necromancers that use magic to defile the dead or defy natural death. That's why they're telling Strange that possessing a dead body is forbidden. They were never human in the first place.
I think those black spirits weren’t as evil as they seemed. Not only did they explain that what he was doing was forbidden but they gave him an opportunity to stop without punishing him.
Easily my favorite part of the movie because the audience knows exactly what he’s going to do and raimi sets it up so perfectly from the very beginning. Plus just seeing the body come up and the evil spirits condemning him only for strange to be like fuck that you serve me! Hahaha I love it

Gotta love how much of a 180 heel-turn it was for those spirits. From picking on his limp body like vultures and dog-piling on his dreamwalking corpse, to vainly trying to flee be used as a sentient poltergeist cape.
The way they've been going with strange it seems they're slowly turning him into an anti hero who's more and more willing to break the rules to save the day. I really hope that they go through with that and don't just excuse all his actions cuz "he's the hero". I think that would be a really cool development for the character.
The comics are even better. Once he needed to operate and do roadside surgery on a child. But his hands were basically useless. So he made a deal with a demon that by chance he could either regain the use of his of hands, but he was at risk of never being able to use magic again. It was like a 1 in 1 billion chance. He regained the use of his hands and was able to maintain the use of magic.

What had actually happened was the during the dream walk, Benedict Cumberbatch actually got transferred into a dead version of himself in an alternate dimension and improv'd all of this, truly one of the actors of all time.
