Hot & Crispy Palak Pakoda | Fried Spinach Fritters | Easy Evening Appetizer | Best Indian Snack

  • Palak Pakoda (Spinach Fritters) make a great appetizer, snack or even brunch! A hot cup of evening tea/coffee and these crispy Pakodas = Euphoria😋

    Ingredients:
    2 cups - spinach finely chopped
    1 cup - chopped onion
    1 tsp - ginger chopped
    1 tsp - green chilly chopped
    1 tsp - red chilly powder
    1 tsp - chaat masala
    1 tsp - garam masala
    1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
    1/4 tsp - asafoetida
    1 tsp - cumin powder
    1 tsp - carrom seeds (ajwain)
    2 tbsp - coriander leaves chopped
    4 tbsp - gram flour
    2 tbsp - rice flour
    1 tbsp - lime juice
    1.5 cups - water
    1 tsp - salt
    Oil for deep frying
    Method:
    In a bowl add all above ingredients, except water and oil. Mix them well and add water in-between to adjust the consistency. Note that the spinach and onions will release water once they are mixed with salt and the spices. So be careful while adding water. The batter should not be too watery, it should have a medium consistency.
    Once done, close and keep aside for 15 minutes.
    Now make small round shaped balls of the batter with your hands. Heat oil in a pan. Once the oil is medium hot, add the pakodas one by one and fry both sides until it becomes golden brown. Turn each side a couple of times to make it crispy on both sides. Once its nicely fried on both sides, remove them and drain them to remove excess oil.
    Serve the hot and crispy Palak Pakoda hot with chutney or tomato sauce.
