Does Porsche have a problem on its hands with the arrival of the new MG Cyberster? Let us know your thoughts, and we'll refer to them when we get to drive the Boxster EV...
You forgot to mention that the battery is guaranteed for the life of the car. not a 100k or 8yrs but for the life of the car, I think that is what people are going to be pleased about.
Fantastic review! No gimmicks and plenty of facts. As I suspected after seeing this car at the Everything Electric London Excel show, the RWD version will be the pick of the range and more fun as lighter and you will go further on a charge. Massive shame that there is no frunk as that bonnet is HUGE. And charge speeds could and should be better. But otherwise this fulfils the brief perfectly.
Thanks for the kind words, Mark. We agree, a front boot would have transformed this car's grand touring abilities, and made any potential dynamic limitations versus the Porsche seem less relevant. / Sam
I love this, well done MG. Now, if Ford had done the same thing and launched a new Capri as an open top sports car or a coupe, they possibly would also have a winner and not annoyed so many of us by killing such an iconic name. I still have my Capri 280.
When driving a sports car for me I want to experience the sound of the engine, the shifting of the transmission, the sounds of the engine while down shifting or running through the gears. I also like taking g long trips some over 1,000 miles, all the things I enjoy in driving a car this are and most battery-powered cars can cannot provide. The wizz bang doors are a turnoff also especially opener switch. The MG gives sport cars a bad name. I'll stick with with my Mazda MX 5. Miata
With you 100%, there's still no real rival for the MX5. There maybe better cars but there is nothing that can get close to the Mazda when you look at what you get for the money.
I think not. If I wanted a drivers car I’d get an Alpine. The shock of the 3.2 appeals more than a bit more finesse, as it’sprobaly still miles off an A110 or emira
I was quite excited when I first saw this car mentioned about 18 months ago. Excited for about 10 seconds when I found out it was electric and weighed almost 2 tonnes. I'm wondering if someone will do the reverse on this car and convert one to a petrol engined, rear wheel drive track monster. Oh yeah, 276 miles 🤣🤣🤣🤣 good luck with that!
I'd worry about that door in gusty weather.I've seen a rear hatch turned back over the roof by a really strong wind gust.Nice vehicle though I must admit.
Really good this from MG. Fabulous model at a great price.. Although, in no way can this be mentioned in same breath as a boxster. Cmon, behave. Theyre actually chalk and cheese. Stop with the obvious daft comparisons.....but it is a nice looking car at a very competitive price.
Looks great except for the tacky rear indicators but once the ownership novelty has worn off somewhat and there's a few about and as you drive along with that MG badge on the steering wheel staring you in the face or the emblem on the bonnet wishing it boasted something probably German or Italian then I bet you'd wish you'd bought an ICE Porsche.
Oh we remember and it's why we're eager to try out the next one! But we'd like to film the original roadster if we get the chance. Does anyone have one that they're willing to lend? / Jamil
Really? That's all you can think of? And I'd say that they're certainly no worse than the "MINI"s reversed indicator lights. And I'm sure that, because so many people think that they're so terrible, some wide boy in the east end will be knocking out chunky "normal" rear light clusters some time soon.
I hate it I go for a Porsche it looks horrible hideous what are waste of time mg I probably committed before about another Chinese car brand byd this one takes a Michael MG is now Making new shape convertible disgusting all of the classic MG convertibles I will never ever get one they are dangerous thay will catch fire

yes massive problem for the Boxster

In China and Thailand. 7 years 80,000 in UK
german car warranties are known to be barely minimal
It isn't
I agree. When your battery does not work, you need another one but if you're just recharging, you use EV chargers, not new batteries.

Great video - cheers Sam!
Great review and tempting proposition will stick with my Z4 M40i and wait for a second hand one
Thank you, Karl! Not long until they’re available on cinch if all goes to plan 🤞
A friend of mine is selling the reg plate MG OPEN on Gumtree. I think it's actually M6 0PEN but it's easily adapted with a number plate screw 🙂
so, illegal
I’d love one. I’d have the new English white with red roof and red interior. GT as well as
Lovely spec. Would you be tempted by the Trophy if we said it was more fun? 🫢

That intro tho👨🍳
It's hot in the kitchen!
Anyone own this model? how well of the roof seal such as wind noise, water seal is good when rain?
10:43 that was a personal message for Elon there 😂
We've been teased and we've been patient. It's 4 years late and they're still taking reservations for it. We're eager to drive one!

You're probably too young to remember that one of Tesla's earliest models was a roadster (Targa ?).

@jimmys6566
Don't concern yourself Jimmy. You couldn't afford it anyway! 😉
Need more colour choice inthe range. Metallic blue with peanut leather would look stunning. Please. Giive more choice.
Not till at least next year
Amazing car isn't the best car ever can't you give me that car.that One is my dream pls. Thank you
Looks like a commercial …
Correct me if I'm wrong but commercials aren't usually this critical

A terrible shame it's a battery car.
You are talking too fast.
Noted, but there's a 0.75x speed option on playback options on UA-cam

Very helpful for here in super busy traffic of Southeast Asia especially Indonesia ;)
Way too heavy
It is rather heavy but we're not yet in that era of lightweight EVs so hard to criticise it too harshly for that
/Jamil
@@cinch it is because weight is the enemy of fun.
Normally I'd agree. But then we drove this Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and now I'm not too sure: ua-cam.com/video/B8QfZjWjGwQ/v-deo.html

The sad thing is you cannot buy them in the UK
