*breaks fingers on phone scream* I'M HERE
LET'S GOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Jim’s favourite colour is teal but notice how Oluwande is wearing a teal earring the whole time. And Jim’s actor confirmed that’s why Jim said it’s their favourite colour. 😪🥺
Jim+Olu 4ever 😻🥹
OH MY HEART- THATS SO CUTE
AWWWWW i didnt know that!! thats so sweet
THAT is how you react to someone you know changing their pronouns/name. No big deal, no gasp of shock, just "okay, their name's Jim now" , adjust how you address them and move on. As a trans person, it's such a refreshing change to see that.
I get you.
I’m a guy who has complex and nuanced views on things, just like everyone else. Some are leaning one way, other to the other way.
Core principle I hope we all live by: be kind to others and be curious.
If someone asks you kindly to refer to them differently, why would you not? A little understanding goes a long way!
I’m okay if people disagree, just my 2c.
@@GlenOwen Dude, it is SO refreshing to be a "they/them" nonbinary person and get this attitude from a straight guy! Thanks for being a decent person with an open mind.
The actor who plays Izzy has confirmed that he's playing the character as in love with Blackbeard!
THERE WE HAVE IT!
He has?!
@@GlenOwen he's been sharing and commenting on loads of fanart (and some fan theories) on his twitter, it's really cool!
The creator also confirmed it!!!
Con knows what's up. I've really enjoyed following him on twitter and seeing how he interacts with fanart.
at around 7 mins into this vid, you comment how this is one of the best-written scenes in the show, I agree but most of it was actually improvised! The whole bit about Blackbeard's restaurant and Stede visiting etc was all improvised by Rhys and Taika! Also, I loved the African Lion Safari reference! Nice to spot a fellow Canadian! Love your reactions so much, can't wait to see the rest!
Thanks Abby!
I'm not surprised if most was improvisedI think most enticing comedies are!
@@GlenOwen their is a few improvised scenes but they mostly follow the script
Lol I thought that too, it's classic improv between those two. They're both so good at it.
“Coming Nana! Coming for some caaake” cracks me up every time 😂
The conversation about the restaurant was all improv 😊
Oh 100%
So was the tea line.
Gotta love lucius giving blackbeard the shovel talk😂
Someone had to
Lucius reaction to the interactions between Stede and Ed are amazing. He’s so good at conveying things without using words, like his face journey when Blackbeard made him countdown in episode 4. Your reaction was the same as mine at the almost kiss! Like Stede now is not the right time for interruption! And now Jim not going back with them. But overall yeah the Blackbeard bar and grill scene was my favourite haha. I agree it was one of the best scenes!
100! I can see why so many people love Lucius
I love how Lucius went from wanting Stede to be murdered to being Stede’s number 1 defender.
Also, I see you starting to peel back those Izzy layers! 😂
Doing my best. I’m not a psychologist but I play one on UA-cam lol
Lucius speaking the truth to Blackbeard after that amazing bonfire sequence, was one of the best scenes in the entire show
Yeah. Izzy is in love with blackbeard. The problem is that blackbeard doesn't really exist. He is a persona ed has being using all his life (since he killed his dad) to hide behind. And now that ed met stede, who gives him the opportunity to be soft and like 'fine things' without shame, blackbeard little by little is going away.
That’s some big brain thinking
This is one of my favorite episodes because of the great balance between humor and drama. I definitely love Ed and Stede acting like such a married couple (Ed's smile at Stede after the Lucius talk is sickeningly fond) and their flirting in the snake scene. It's crazy to me that all that was improv... Taika and Rhys are brilliant. Loved Lucius' facial expressions and how sweet he is always standing up for Stede now. He's a wonderful friend.
Jim's backstory is really interesting and it was fun to see them interact with their nana. I love anytime Jim gets to throw knives too... Very cool. And Oluwande is a sweetheart. Absolutely love the dynamic between him and Jim.
Also, Swede was really hilarious in this episode, though I can't help but feel awful for him. That damn orange cake! (lol at Stede deflecting like he wasn't the one who asked for it)
I saw a post on social media that called Ed/Stede this episode a romance between Geralt of Rivia and Steve Irwin, which is too accurate.
Stede's outfit on the treasure hunt made me immediately think of Rhys' character in the new Jumanji movies, he has the same type of hat!
YOUR IZZY THEORY MAKES SO MUCH SENSE! That's also the feeling i got from the very start. Can't wait for you to finish it
I’m curious to see if I’m right or not!
Blackbeard's Bar and Grill: Delights and Delicacies and Fishing Equipment is the best bit on the show
As a queer person I'm so used to looking for queer attraction in subtext and subtle acting choices that it's kinda fascinating for me to see the reaction of someone who WASN'T doing that. Interesting that you didn't really pick up on the brewing romance between Ed and Stede, but you called out Izzy's jealousy with basically a shot in the dark 😂
When you're watching this show through the lense of it being a Romance, you see Ed and Stede start building their mutual attraction all the way from their meeting in episode 4 (or, I would argue, even from the rescue at the end of ep 3. The lighting in that scene is red to represent violence, but when we see it from Stede's perspective the lights blur behind Blackbeard's face, like in a stylized romantic scene. Blackbeard says he's heard of Stede, and he passes out with a smile on his face while The Beach Boys' "Our Prayer" starts playing. It's basically a meet cute). The two actors have a lot of chemistry, and the characters constantly prioritize spending time together and learning about eachother.
In contrast, I would say that the Izzy stuff is really subtle. He's bitter, he's repressed, he only cares about one version of Edward, and that's the violent Blackbeard persona. He's upset when he sees the other characters having openly gay relationships. He doesn't think that emotional vulnerability is acceptable in a pirate. It is acceptable for him to be devoted beyond reason to his violent, bloodthirsty captain. He sees Stede as a threat, and it makes him want to get rid of him. Izzy's affection for Ed is as fucked up as Black Pete and Lucius are cute.
Sorry for writing an essay in your comments. Again, really interesting video, thanks for the reactions!
The Stede Irwin part was so good lmaooo
Oh man I wish you had full reactions of this show. More people need to react to it.
Maybe in the future I will do full ones. Thanks for the feedback
"Best written scene so far," and it was IMPROVISED! 😍
wait why is ur brain huge u literally spotted izzy's issues ahdhskahjahaak hes so fucked up I really do love him
Izzy really existed in a world seemingly without homophobia and somehow still managed to internalize it.
@@evi6629 EXACTLY
@@evi6629 Deep.🙃
I was waiting all of yesterday and today for this reaction, loved watching it!!! This is probably one of my favourite episodes from this show, just for the restaurant bit with Ed, Stede and Lucius.
that scene was actually improv between rhys and taika! thats what 15 years of friendship does to u 😂 amazing scene!
watching these videos is so joyful for me because you seem like a character that paul rudd would play and i mean that in the best way possible
Thank you for making my day!!!!!!!
The writing team did their research; the part concerning St Augustine is fairly accurate, down to vegetation and even the structures, especially the Orange bit. King George of England dispatched the royal Botanist to Florida after he purchased it. In his journal to King he describes the Oranges around St Augustine to be the largest and sweetest he’d ever seen and the Spanish wasted the fruit by letting most rot on the tree or ground because the orchards were so numerous the locals only took what they needed and didn’t trade it, and ships gathered the fruit for free because the locals didn’t consider it valuable. In fact they were so lazy they’d cut the trees to gather fruit instead of climbing around.
He also mentioned the land would be great for ranching and it was a horticulturists paradise.
Stedes outfit in this reminds me of when he was in Jumanji.
I love how you're "I see it now, I see it" / "I heard it, 'they'" 😂
Lovely to see the growth, and kudos for such funny reaction video
Aww thanks! I had an idea for a video about how I think that OFMD is the best show for LGBTQ+. There are so many fantastic reasons....but I am not sure if anyone really would like that.
"Coming Nana! Coming for some ~*𝓬𝓪𝓴𝓮*~!"
"This was the best written scene in the show so far" - that bit was improvised for the most part. XD
like you i thought i knew where this show was going then got blindsided. best thing that ever happened to me!
I am right there with you Jam
"This was the best written scene in the show so far - agree / disagree"
Well, I need to respectfully disagree. Because this scene wasn't exactly written. The whole conversation was improv XD
It's mind blowing how Taika and Rhys can riff like that! So glad some of it made it in the final cut because it's GOLD.
This is my favorite episode! Its so fun to see Stede and Ed's banter, and Lucius realizing how serious their relationship is becoming. Also great getting to see where Jim is from and learning their back story. They totally still couldve kissed Olu though- there was time!
I love seeing your reactions to this show. You seem to be genuinely enjoying it and its really nice to hear your sweet comments. Thank you for reacting! Cant wait for the next episode!
Ah, it’s fun to watch how you’re experimenting more with camera tricks, the cut ins and the screen mirror at 0:24 loll.
Nana is super intense but hilariously so. One of my favorite parts of the episode. My favorite detail actually is that they straight up put a crown royal bag over the head of the shovel haha.
I feel like Lucius is more of a little brother figure to Ed and Stede.
I agree a hundred percent-the writing and/or improvisation of that scene was seamless yet sincerely earnest.
Rhys and Taika have been friends since forever, so watching them improv off each other is a real joy. They stuck to the script a lot because it really was well-written, but sometimes they were given free rein, and that really added to the characterization 😁
Your crazy conspiracy theory is not as crazy as you think 😉 - btw solid reaction!
Great reactions... 11:47 ONE OF US ONE OF US ONE OF US!
The Izzy fans over here like, “Yessss! Join us!”
one of my favourite episodes for sure. Good comedy bits, heartwarming moments and it was nice to see more about jim.
Your reactions are great! I can't wait to see how you will react to the last couple of episodes :D
Thank you!
uh oh 👀
always so excited for these reactions, keep it up man
Will do!
Lucius telling off Ed and making him be nicer to Stede because they both like each other is so ‘mom telling her young son to treat the little girl who fancies him nicely coz they might get married one day.’
That scene was actually improv from what I've heard!! I feel like they just told Rhys and Taika to chat and have chemistry
The part you called the best written scene in the show (I fully agree) but the entire part about Blackbeard's Bar and Grill and Fishing Equipment was improvised on the spot and it was something like ten minutes of them just riffing on each other, so most of it got cut. They're best friends in real life and it makes me so happy.
If I had a dollar for every time someone told me that I’d be a millionaire! I do agree with you that it’s amazing they are best friends in real life
Apparently, the entire conversation about the restaurant was improvise
7:08 acording to the actors that scene was improv, I love these actors so much
💯 on board with you
I never really tried reaction videos until yours, and I'm glad i did! It's super fun seeing your reactions. I enjoy your thoughts on where the story is gonna go and wouldn't mind seeing more of that in the future. :D
I don’t know if you could make my day even better after hearing that :-)
Here's the thing about Izzy. In my opinion that man is the most homophobic gay person I've ever seen in cinematic history.
He certainly up there
Fun fact, that part you said was the best written scene in the show so far was COMPLETELY adlibbed by Rhys and Taika! Many of their scenes together was mostly adlibbed
Just letting know know, a good portion of the show is improv, especially the Blackbeard's Bar, Grill, and Bait, that was all improv between Taika and Rhys. And your Izzy theory is also my theory lol
The African lion safari reference gave me so much nostalgia for my childhood
THE "best written scene" WAS ALL IMPROVE
Stede Irwin. 😆 He did look like him.
Ooh I’ve been looking forward to this all day! Love the reactions especially this episode - and the predictions!
A little detail I loved was that Oluwande’s earring is teal
This was such a sweet episode. The snake scene kills me everytime lol
the restaurant scene was actually completely improved!!!
Subscribed at Stede Irwin. 😂 I really enjoy watching you react to this show. Looking forward to the rest of the season and to check out more of your videos.
Thanks Shannon :-)
i knew you'd come through eventually glen
I'm not the fastest but I get there!
what a nice video to start a nice day! Loving your reaction 💖
I hope you had a good one
Congratulations on 1000 subscribers! I was here under 500! Also Justice for Roach and his orange cake! It definitely tasted of orange. If it helps it took me to this episode too to realise something was going on with Ed and Stede 😅
Thanks for being here since the beginning!
When me and my grandma watched this episode she got all excited about the crown royal bag on the shovel which was pretty funny since it didn’t have anything to do with the plot.
No lie, I wasn’t watching the show while my partner was watching it in the other room. I came in during the treasure hunt and noticed the crown royal bag and lost my shit. Idk why but I thought it was the funniest thing I’d ever seen. It got me to stick around and watch a little more, then after the Blackbeard bar and grill convo I realized then I’d have to go back and watch from the start.
Fun fact: the restaurant scene was basically improvised!!
Seems like 90% of these scene are ool
just so you know the "best written scene in the show" was improvised !!!
I know, I know! I botched that one
IT´S HAPPENING!!! Finaly we get here xDD I loved your reaction on whole fireplace scene! It´s one of the best! This episode is my comfort watch! I saw whole series four times already, but this particular episode is something I could watch over and over and never be bored of it :D
You could have the show on loop!
@@GlenOwen you´re absolutely right! xD
I'm really enjoying your reactions :)
Jim's favorite color is teal. So is Olu's earring.
Coincidence? I think not.
The scene where Ed and stede were talking abt a restaurant was improvised.
And such a good scene. Those two of such good chemistry
You absolutely called me out! I’m a returning viewer who hadn’t yet subscribed, but I have now!
Thank you Madison, that’s so sweet!
You know what, that's not an insane theory, totally subscribing, great reaction!!
Thanks for joining!
You cut out "co-captains" 😭
Amazing reaction as always though 💜
Kinda sad we all spoiled you instead of letting you find out on your own (sorry)
This is life. And that’s OK :-)
Oh gosh we used to have African Lion Safari in Australia too, but it closed in the 80s I think.
Team purple! Also one solid reaction 💜
Hell yeah team purple!
2:08 That's Beethoven - für Elise
I'm waiting for the next one, it's like watching the series for the first time
Oh, I'm going to love when you see what is coming ❤️
the bar and grill exchange was ad libbed :))
I'm always looking forward to your reactions of each episode, they make my day! :)
DING DING DING DING DING A WINNER IS YOU!
11:56 i'm pretty sure either the actor or the showrunner said that it's what's being implied
loving these reactions! Can't wait to get to the end with you.
the scene that you said was the best written one was actually improvised!!
Is it just me or is that a Crown Royal bag covering the shovel.
Stede Urwin 😂😂😂
Agreed best scene in the show! ☠️
the campfire scene was all improve !! :D
izzy *is* in love with edward it's true man
yay!!
IZZY THEORY SO TRUE AND REAL
Immediately picking up on Jim's pronouns? We love a good ally
Because we don’t get hbo max here this is the only way I can watch our flag means death
Glen you are so wholesome and pretty fine too
Disagree.. it wasn't written.. it was all improv
