Thanks so much Dave. I have a similar Whirlpool stove where the indicator lights above each element knob are not working when I turn my elements on. The technician I have here has said that there aren't any indicator lights because he took the back off the oven and, as he said, "there aren't any bulbs behind them". He tells me I am more or less crazy and they are just black dots ?!?! For goodness sake!!! Do I explain to him that there are not any bulbs there, it is the purple cord that makes the tiny light come on? Thank you so much in advance for your help and thank you for making these informative videos!!!
Instead of replacing the switch, take the switch out and bang it on the counter or floor. It should reset it and you can confirm if there’s continuity. 😊
You are an excellent communicator and a great teacher. I have a question regarding our Whirlpool range -Model:RF362LXSQ. Front left burner was going but not alternating off to on as usual, and as we got the repair man he seems to have fixed it and now it’s pulsating again, but it takes about 30 seconds in intervals. First hot, then it goes off for 30 seconds, then it comes back again. Is the 30 seconds interval normal time? When my wife called the technician again to enquire, he said the settings are in the manufacturer and can’t be changed.. it either works or it doesn’t.
Damn this is a cool trick to do the continuity on it. I wish I thought of that! Before I just turned power on and pulled the wires off until the light goes out lol
Depending on the meter you have you might want to use ohms instead of continuity, I was using continuity to test but it wouldn't beep until I switched it to ohms, and with my specific model the wiring was all done In series so I couldn't do it live one by one either
Do these switches also control how hot the burner is suppose to get? I have a burner that when cooking can just turn red without warning even if the knob is on low.
Yeah my stovetop light wont turn off and GE is giving me a hard time with warranty and the stive us in 3 yrs old and gas already had a burned iven ekement and the had to replace the motherbiard. I really dont trust the stove in my home now. What should ido?
I have this same problem. I noticed my electric bill has been much higher than usual. Do you think this light problem can cause a significant waste of energy. Is it worth fixing?
