Produced in1997, Remembering Spokane explores fifty years of nostalgia; The zoo at Manito Park, meeting under the clock at the Crescent department store, Natatorium Amusement Park, Sunday afternoon tea-dances at the internationally renowned Davenport Hotel. These are just some of the memories and historical tidbits that are rekindled in Remembering Spokane.
Not a traditional historical documentary, Remembering Spokane is the social history of the community as told by the people who lived it, using their old home movies and photo albums. It covers the period from 1924 to 1974. The years Spokane survived a world war and hosted a World's Fair. Remembering Spokane explores fifty years of nostalgia; so we invite you to join us for a lilac-scented stroll down memory lane in Spokane, the heart of the Inland Northwest.

I was born in Spokane in 1944. This documentary is Heaven for me! My Dad, who was born in Spokane in 1906, could remember when coffins were offered in the display windows of The Crescent Department Store. Yeah--boxes for the dead.

Central Park used to be a thriving black community with churches schools parks and homes, wonder what was before manito and all the history built over and colonized by white men of the physical and spiritual murder of natives.

This is absolutely wonderful. I was born at Sacred Heart in 79 and have spent all but six years here. Proud to say I’m now raising my son here. Breaks my heart to see all the things I missed from before my time. Especially Nat Park. My mom has talked about it my whole life. What a great, heart warming video. Thank you. ❤

Every time, when you think you want to leave Spokane, there's always that part of Spokane that draws you back, for me it's the old history, Browne's Addition, Nat park even though it dispanded before I was born.

Spokane when I was a kid (in the late 70s, early 80s) was a lot denser and more populous. I don't know many west siders moving there, most of the east siders I know all live in the west now. Maybe they'll go back someday?

I was born in the Deaconess Hospital in Spokane. I was on the Captain Cy show once. My grandmother, Grace Lowery was the "Head" room service lady (maid) at the Davenport Hotel, and her son, my Uncle Gil, was the "Head" bartender in the Matador room. Drew Cary is wrong! It's Spokane that rocks!

Spokane is not a drug infested hole in the ground some would say it is. Spokane has its problems as does any other growing city, compare Spokane to other cities of the same size such as Boise and Tacoma and I think you will see they have their issues as well. No city is exempt from crime but Spokane really is a beautiful city and if you haven't visited before I would encourage you to visit.

I am trying to find out information on which my dad told me about but he is no longer around, anyway he was telling me about some type of fire in which a bunch of firemen died from the Spokane FD and I can't remember what it is that struck me but I can't even find this on Google, anyone who lives there and have some sort of history or might even know someone who works for the FD I would greatly appreciate some closure on this, cause this has family ties. TIA. Like what year and how many and how did it happen. Tya
