Exactly how he described how he put the jack character together is how he testified to it in the trial, it’s just awesome how he is consistent with how memories of his life.
@@nothajzl no but in recent-er interviews he stammers quite a lot and has trouble speaking almost like he's drunk. here, he's speaking fluently and smoothly. well, far smoothly than he does now.
@@mvstudios4922 I noticed that too, maybe the problem is that he needs to think twice about every word that leaves his mouth. And 6 Weeks of court can lead to the habit
really a fascinating interview, the kind that gives me hope in humanity. Here are my takeaways... First of all he knew off the bat this movie was gonna be excellently written and excellently directed. Shrek writers were STARS and the directors were STARS (idk them but they fell from the Bruckenheimer tree). So already going in he knew he had a movie with a STORY and AESTHETIC. Second was how he saw the Character he played, Jack sparrow from a written context. He said he really liked how he could pretty much change shape and morph into whatever the scene or situation he was in at the time demands. This reminds me a lot of Donald Trump. Your best friend 1 minute, your enemy the next, solely based on whatever benefits him at the time. Some may call this character a snake, but he does posses honorable qualities such as honor (his initial wave to dead pirates hung at the cove) and bravery (rescuing the drowning girl) as well as intelligence. We are led to believe it's the outside world that shapes Jack sparrows evils, more then himself shaping them. Third was Depp's 2 key inspirations. Keith Richards and Peppy Lepew. Depp's insight into knowing that Pirates were the 'rockstars of the day' is what separates him from all the other shitty actors in the world. I doubt Disney came to him with this knowledge, this is Depp's good fortune in good research. Therefore his next logical thought is, 'Well, who is the greatest rock and roll star of OUR time? Keith Richards." Now Idk or care for keith richards, but the fact that Depp arrived to this point is what his greatness is all about. Instantly Jack sparrow became 'wise beyond his years' and with 'grace'. He also came off a little flamboyant and drunk. Genius. I literally sat on my couch applauding at the logic and arrival point of his thought which translated so beautiful on screen. Then Peppy Lepew, the cartoon skunk who had complete tunnel vision. Such a FUNNY characteristic/personality flaw, and applied to Jack Sparrow made him FUNNY. THEREFORE you have a amorphous, Honorable, Brave, Intelligent, Wise, Flamboyant, FUNNY pirate THAT is JACK SPARROW. GOODNIGHT!
It's sad to see how perhaps the drugs, alcohol or even the abuse from Amber affected his speech. I mean, if you compare this interview to interviews done in 2017 or during recent times, he stammers and his speech isn't as fluent like here. He stops quite a bit and is slower at speaking, here, he's fine.
You can see his video as more of a kid here ua-cam.com/video/m_JyajY5in8/v-deo.html and then this interview. You can really see how he evolved. His mannerisms and the way he talks is much different.
Well since this interview you have to remember he has lost his mother, got falsely accused of domestic abuse and sexual violence, had his career and life turned upside down, and struggled with substance abuse. Maybe those elements are a contributing factor as to why he maybe isn't the same..or maybe even perhaps this interview was 20 years ago? Lol

Being consistent is easy when you tell the truth.
How freely he speaks here compared to 2022 is quiet striking.
I mean, interview and court are different contexts 😅
But yeah, he’s been through a lot since

@mvstudios4922 Alcohol and drugs destroy brain cells. And he did a lot of that.
This moment was the *exact* transition from the shy and introvert Johnny to the more expresive and relax Johnny

It’s pretty bizarre hearing talk normally I’m so used to seeing him as Jack
It’s because he’s such a good actor
I wanted to see if he’s always this chill when he’s not in movies
This dude played Willy Wonka too it’s crazy that it’s the same person

same. i can't hear anything.
I might try listening on my phone which worked once.
❤❤❤❤❤❤ I am watching it right now Johnny Depp and I love ❤️ it alot and it is making me laugh.
Would be a good interview if they had used microphones.
The sound is so low
This is Mort Rainey lol
its just johnny depp, it looks like mort rainey because he dressed normally how he does in the movie
Where can full version be found?

I can't hear a thing with the volume all the way up.
How is he not Hamza Yusuf's twin brother?

he sounds way better English
I don't know what's happened to him but these days he's a bumbling mess. He's sharp as here.
No he's the same
Drink and drugs fucked him up. Now he looks like a bloated salamander and slurs his words.

He became a drunk, which is why most of that other horrible stuff happened. It‘s tragic really... I can barely understand him nowadays.
