I think this is because I move around a lot. In my opinion, a sense of style comes mostly from the movement in the combo. The best DMC combos involve the player and the enemy flying around a lot, teleporting, launching, etc. If you just stay close to the enemy and dish out damage, it just doesn't look as appealing. Think of dance macabre with the rebellion - it's stylish for the first few times you do it, but it's so much cooler when you start flying, teleporting, jump canceling, and you only use dance macabre as a final touch to finish off a wave of enemies, and not the main part of the combo. Maybe I should do some video essays later on 🤔

This video is the exact reason I love leviathan. When act 2 first came out I thought the fight was kinda cool but not as good as others. Then when I learned to rocket ride… fight slaps so hard. It feels boss and arena were designed around us having arial superiority.

@@robotmaster4515 first time I tried the fight I decided to try grappling to him to shoot the thing on his head, then he twitched weird and sent me so far up the whole world left render distance, landed a 10x Ultraricoshot just because I had so much time to set up coins while falling. Have not been able to recreate it either, no clue what happened, really wish I'd beaten him that attempt, would have been the coolest thing I ever did in a game.
I should do radiant leviathan sometime... For now, I decided to do radiant Gabriel 2 to bring a bit of variety to my channel, but I'll definitely give ol' leviathan a spin sometime in the future!

At least try the demo! It's really outdated, but it has most of the mechanics as they are in the cirrent build (punching your own bullets, coins, etc). You can beat the demo in under an hour, and if you enjoyed it, you'll enjoy the full game even more!
Ultrakill almost reminds me of an immersive sim, in that it doesn't force you to do things a certain way. It just gives you a bunch of well-tuned mechanics and cuts you loose to use them however you want.
Basically! Kind of a tangent, but i enjoyed StealthgamerBR's dishonored videos. The way the fights feel choreographed, and yet chaotic. I kinda feel mixed on how this video I barely put any effort into got so popular, when I made a sequel in which I actually tried really hard to get everything right was mostly ignored. I feel like the second video embodies your sentiment a lot better, because I really tried to use every single weapon and trick I could think of, and even to vary up the boss attack patterns. I would restart my runs every time I got the same attack more than twice because it felt boring to watch. I wanted to showcase what ultrakill's sandbox was capable of (and show off a bit, while I'm at it!). C'est la vie
Revisited this video a few days ago. Gave him some upgrades with a difficulty mod + radiance (if you're not familiar, a global buff you can apply to enemies that was added by the devs) and clowned him even harder :D I also have a similar video vs Gabe

In ULTRAKILL we have many different playstyles. Some play default, dashing to avoid enemy attacks and doing some stylish plays, some play by using the most efficient way, usually never regarding the style, me personally, I utilise a lot of vertical movement combined with slam storage to be like an uncatchable mosquito. But this video. This playstyle. This is nothing like anything I've ever seen before, This man isn't playing ULTRAKILL, he's fucking playing ULTRASKILL, ULTRASTYLE, AND ULTRACRACK, all at the same fucking time.
Any explosion can deflect projectiles back at an enemy, look at the mindflayer instakill, for example. What happened was I parried a projectile (possibly multiple at once) and when they exploded in its mouth, all of the shots the boss spawned in that instant were being deflected back
Ultrakill really has a concerningly high skill ceiling which does indirectly make the skill floor higher than usual but at the same time you can do stuff like deny the concept of a floor like this lmao

Technically, I only land on the leviathan to reset my rocket rides since now you get only 3, and I only touch the ground after I kill him. About as close I can get to the floor being lava
