- If you are going to do a full brake job on an Audi A4 B8 or VW Passat this three part video series should be helpful. It demonstrates how to replace both the front and rear brakes on an Audi B8 generation (2008-2016) which also includes the Volkswagen Passat models. In order to replace the rear brake pads the caliper must be put in service mode to recess the piston. I prefer to use the Autel scan tool MS906BT though the job can be done several different ways. There are several tips and tricks to getting the job done correctly. Follow along as Ozzstar shows how to get you through the repair process. Thank you for stopping by! -Glen (Ozzstar)

Outstanding video.... I really like the way that you applied zoom-in and out details.... you should be in Hollywood.... that was a great movie!!
Thank you so much! 😎 I might have to sign a few autographs? Haha Take it easy. -Glen
Having the scan tool makes the job easy. Autel makes some nice tools
Fighting technology with technology. 👍
Having the know how and the right tool make the job go smoothly. Great job Glen
Sure does man! 💯
Watched all 3, nice job Glen!
You didn't fall asleep? My videos cure insomnia. 🤣 I got the stickers and the magnet is on my tool box, thank you sir!
@@ozzstars_cars 👍
Great video. I have a Audi A 3 and a Autel MX808 TS and go my rear brakes replace and now I know how I gonna do it.
You can do it!
Got through watching your three videos of replacing the front and rear brakes. Great work on the camera and detailing of replacement parts. It's amazing how if you watch some other videos out there, that people won't energize the motor for the rear brakes. Just crank the piston back in there! Have a good one Glen!
Gotta do it right or don't do it at all. Right? Hope you and your family are doing well and staying safe. 👍
hi Your scanning device asks you to release the electronic hand brake button before entering the next step and open the parking brake. My question is: What if the electronic brake button is not work, will the device complete the scan and allow you to open the parking brake? Because I have a problem, I cannot move the car because the servo motor is holding the brake and the EPB button is malfunction and does not work. Can this device release the electronic brake servo motor even if the electronic brake button is broken?
Should be able to bypass the switch with the scan tool but that all depends on the model car.
@@ozzstars_cars my car Honda civic 2019 i bough scanner (Launch) but failed to bypass the switch
Chrysler you can do in car for rear em. Brake. Home Depot has thin wrenches that will work if anyone is interested under Husky. Great video series Glen.
A cheap wrench and a grinder = custom tool. Thanks and Merry Christmas.
Nice to see there is a work around if one doesn't have a scan tool with bidirectional control.
Where there is a will there is a way. How many feet of snow in your neck of the woods do you have nowadays Dave?
@@ozzstars_cars Power was out for 24 hours, no water. We huggled up in front of the wood fire, ha ha. Merry Christmas, Glen!
@@spelunkerd wow that's rough! You can keep the snow. Stay warm and Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Great instructions. Thank you
You're welcome Michael. Thank you
Great video. Do you have the engine running or just the ignition key turned to ON position when resetting the break?
@@yokihomasakura2532 ignition on or engine on, it doesn't matter.
Thanks for making this video . Great information and easy to follow.
Your welcome. I used the same scan tool today to replace the rear brakes on a '17 Honda CR-V. Success!
Got it! Lube it before it goes in!👍
You know it Dan!
enjoyed the video and I dont know if anyone else caught this but the astro work light trick using a old brake pad as a base so it does not fall over thanks im going to use this. I also have the same light. cheers man
Good eye Joe! Here's a little more detail. ua-cam.com/video/iRnCT8Qf18o/v-deo.html
Thank you, those tips and tricks are great
Glad it helped you
Thanks a lot for video, but I would have a question.
What is mission of "replace brake pads(operate guide)" button there. It seems like, it also helps you to do same thing
Explains the procedure. Some bidirectional features can be accessed more than one way through the scanner.
Thnx beautiful job we learn enough from this video thnx again
@tahir1156 glad it helped! -Glen
Great Video I had to do my Rear Break on 2017 acura tlx But not sure if I will be able to do the epb with my XTool D7 scanner,Please any feedback will be appreciated ThankU for sharing
Nice job, and the scan tool makes it nice and quick- and the knowhow.
Technology at it's finest. Thanks
@@ozzstars_cars most welcome, reminds me to use that scan tool more.
The thumbs down guy found you, Glen! That means you're doing it RIGHT! :)
Love the Autel - that's pretty much the same one I have, minus the TPMS feature (that rarely works anyway, lol). I still discover things it can do almost 5 years after I bought it. I could just imagine my reaction to a brake job not knowing about Service Mode! That would be a bad afternoon, lol. That Audi is identical to alot of VW's I've worked on. I still have never had an Audi in here, at least that I remember.
Great series, brother. I've got to get that brake tool kit one of these days and retire the c-clamps. One is 30 years old now (maybe older) and is getting long in the tooth. Some cars you can't even use them on anymore. Might be time to upgrade. Anyway, you and the fam-jam have a MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I always get a thumbs down when my thong doesn't stick out of the back of my leopard pattern yoga pants. That's what I deserve for wearing jean's. lol I hope Santa brings you something nice this year like a new LS crate engine. If nothing else you can use it as a paperweight. haha Seriously though, Merry Christmas to you and yours.
@@ozzstars_cars - 😂🤣😂 Thongs & yoga pants are big view generators. 😁
Yeah I definitely need another LS. This one’s on borrowed time. That’ll be the next video at some point, God give me strength. Thanks brother. 👍🍻
great video, appreciate the knowledge
You're welcome Frank
Thank for showing you are awesome..
So nice of you to say, thanks!
awesome
Great video
Thanks Danny!
Does it have in mk808bt?
do you turn the scan tool off before the brake job is done or does it have to stay on the whole time before the electric parking brake is closed?
The scan tool and ignition can be turned off after service mode has been activated. After the new pads are installed then turn on the ignition and scan tool to close the caliper.
@Ozzstar's I got a question?
?
@ozzstars_cars i got the same machine the autel 906bt so when doing the rear brakes should I do both sides & open the brakes then close the brakes after I'm done to perform the electronic parking break?
@@ozzstars_carsI'm sorry if that was long I just meant should I do both sides then close the breaks after I'm done or should I do one side at a time?
@@xavierrojas2243 do both sides at the same time, then take the rear brakes out of service mode.
My VW has manual parking brake
Good old school mechanical engagement. I like it!
C clamp will work fine
Sure WILL and break the caliper piston. You may want to watch the video again.
@@ozzstars_cars I have a single piston bmw, not an Audi, a c clamp works fine on my car
@@ozzstars_cars if ur Audi can’t handle regular c clamps use a screw driver to compress the piston when the caliper is still screwed on
@gottgaame I very rarely ever delete a comment but yours is so misleading I am going to leave it up for now.

I couldn't figure it out and gave up. I surrender.

@@hasbeengood oh great, now you gave me another word to figure out. I'm getting flashbacks all over again. 😝
@@ozzstars_cars Can't beat you, guess I'll have to forfeit...
You didn't need to do that thing with the scanner to replace the pads.
No, I could have let the car owner have the repair done somewhere else. 🤣🤣🤣
