I also received 2 job offers, which I chose to turn down to pursue my dream of starting my coaching business. In this video I let you know how those came about, how you can create opportunities for yourself, alternative careers for doctors leaving medicine UK and also adjustments you could make inside of medicine should you want to continue working as a doctor.

      Hello Helena,
      I wanted to let you know that I am impressed with your courage to leave medicine. I am actually in a similar situation and would greatly appreciate any guidance or advice from your experience.
      If it's not too much trouble, would you be willing to talk at some point? I have a few questions for you.
      Thank you and have a great day! 😊

    I am a medicsl grad from india and i worked aa a resident before and thru covid and the morbidities and deaths that i saw in these 3 years shook me to the core. I only felt relieved once the vaccines came out and i felt deeply indebted to the researchers who discovered them and thats when i realized who the actual heros are in the broader sense, and decided to follow that route and now i have completed a degree in cancer research. You inspire me, carry on!

    Firstly, I must express how deeply you inspire me. Your journey radiates with intrigue, and there's a warmth and positivity that shines through every word you speak. I recently achieved my CCT in GP on August 3rd - a milestone that took immense dedication and hard work. My passion for travel had led me to envision a year of journeying, with locum work punctuating my adventures, thus funding my backpacking journey. This was why I hsitated to commit to a salaried contract.
    However, I've discovered a trend where practices are leaning more towards hiring ANPs/PAs instead of GPs, even for out-of-hours roles. It's disheartening to realize that after pouring so much effort into my profession, I find myself in a position that wasn't quite the fruitful outcome I had envisioned. Currently, I'm taking on locum roles at an SHO level just to ensure my financial stability. Looking back at all my years in training ( FY1, FY2, and the nights, weekends and the endless battles with the rota co-ordinator, along with the rigorous GP training, I feel a sense of disillusionment , mostly a feeling of profound regret,, anyway watching your video lightened the heaviness on my heart and for that I thank you! I'm certain you channel will become huge some day!

    Thanks for this video! The options youve presented as well as your gentleness and optimism is just what I needed, currently doing some locum work and realized I dont really want to stay in the hospital anymore.

    I am a 30 year nurse but I still resonate with everything you’ve shared. I would so love to do makeup, interior design, event planning and even become a life coach like yourself. It’s just a hard decision because I love them all!!

    I think leaving medicine altogether would be the best idea for any doctor who wants to quit, there are lots of great jobs to do for better pay and for far less stress and trouble. I thought about being a doctor for so long but i gave up because im not at all smart enough to be one and quite honestly it is a very difficult job. I do wonder if some doctors might try Veterinary work, myself im going to aim for that job as animals are a passion for me,

    I am a graduate engineering student but I don't feel like doing it after a year of placement in the industry. I am looking at the medical industry because I want to do something that is human oriented. When you say that I have a choice and I change make it change and not stuck with what I already have really resinated with me.

    • @HelenaBridge
      @HelenaBridge  Рік тому

      I would say that a lot of the points I discuss in this video are likely to apply to nurses too! You have infinite potentials for what you could do, though changing professions may require different training/skills.

    Hi Elena, what careers can doctors in the UK do in the USA?

    • @HelenaBridge
      @HelenaBridge  Рік тому

      Hi! Doctors from the UK can take steps to practice in America as a doctor including taking the USMLE, but if you mean after emigrating I haven’t researched specifically this route!
