I'm glad to see a lot of variety here than the overdone modern anime style JRPGs we have been getting. Even the games in the anime style are varied here.
Not gonna lie, I am kinda annoyed that most turn based JRPGs only get love from indie developers nowadays and usually end up a 64 bit/pixelgraphic game. Nothing against that, but I do crave a Triple A title again.
Just so you know Sword of Convallaria will also release on Console now. It was announced that the Delay was to polish the Game, and to work on Controller Support for the Console Release in the Future.
@@magicfield12 just to make one thing clear, SoC is indeed a Gacha game, but there is a single player mode called "Spiral of Destinies", it's pretty cool and has 10 different endings. It does require that you to play the Gacha part a little bit because it needs "keys" to play each chapter of the story (needs around 7~10 to do a full campaign), but you don't need to spend money at all (i've never spent a dime in the game and already got 9 of the 10 endings) and the game is hella fun, not to mention some routes are surprisingly good, so i highly recommend it.

I'm very much looking forward to Penny Blood but the lack of news is really worrying. I know they released Hellbound but i'm not as interested in that 😢
Sword of Convo is a big disappointment. It's a free to play gacha game that's built like a mobile game. A lot of people were very unhappy about this, but we were told the gacha mechanics would not interfere if you just wanted to play through the story. After playing the demo, this is clearly not the case. The gacha store and mechanics are in your face from the beginning. Basically, you play a few scenes from the "story", then get dumped into your standard mobile gacha front end interface. An over world map which is just a series of points representing maps that you have to play repeatedly to clear with different ratings. You get your new characters strictly from the gacha mechanic, that is, if you only want to play the story, you must use the gacha store, there is no in story recruiting shop or guild. Just standard east asian gambling monetization. I uninstalled it. Too bad, it could have been a gem.
If you play the demo until you unlock the Spiral of Destiny, it's exactly the mode you wanted. You can recruit characters in story, and you can't get advantage from the gacha side of the game at all. In fact many players refer to it as the 'non-gacha' mode. It has a great branching storyline that is said to be 120+ hours long. Sad that you already wrote the game off on first impression and prejudice, but as a big tactics RPG fan I plan to have a lot of fun with Sword of Convallaria especially the non-gacha mode.
It's interesting how, of these games, only a couple are _not_ coming to PC. That's to be expected these days, but JRPGs used to be exclusively found on consoles, because Japan doesn't have a history of PC gaming the way the Western world does. There's been a real paradigm shift there.

At least maybe they could try to remake the game and this time finish the 2nd disc the way they really wanted to. I bet if they did that and the game turned out a huge success it might push them to make a 2nd one. I wouldn’t even be tripping on graphics or updating anything from the first disc, just soley focused on the 2nd disc.
