Thanks Giles! Still not officially out... this was one from the archives... however, it's possible I'll be 'let loose' in a few days - if Nicola gives us the nod (and the CAA).
@@CentreofGravityUK just out of curiosity. How long did your training last at EOSM? Keen to get started at East Fortune when the apocalypse is done. Many thanks.
Fantastic video, thoroughly enjoyed that it was like getting my flying fix here on the ground. Did you just sign a Medical Declaration with the CAA online before you did your training may I ask? Next question is did you create the opening title sequence yourself, it is very professional?
cameras can only do so much cold... especially given the Windchill factor... how does such cold effect your engine, positively or negatively in terms of performance? I would think the response would be a little sluggish (especially if you have a pitch variable engine), and maybe some problems getting the internal lubrication to start up....? however, the octane equivalent should be a little higher, so, theoretically you might get a few degrees more power in the cold.
We fly using E5 unleaded in a ROTAX 912 engine, specifically built for flying in these conditions… so it does pretty well in all temperatures. I’ve not personally noticed a difference between winter and summer flying (engine wise). The biggest difference is in the air density, because of the temperature, which does affect the plane’s ability to climb (colder is better).
Graeme, it's good to see you back out, even if it was a little cold. Loved the smiling face at Fife.

@@CentreofGravityUK I really hope you can get out flying soon.
Great video . Live a few miles from Kingsmuir and can't wait to cross the forth between these two points.
It's a great flight to do... if not a little unnerving because of the 'big boys' that fly in that airspace. Still... definitely recommended!
Top Vlog as usual Graeame. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Martin! :)

We all have to do a medical self declaration with the CAA to fly. It's easy to do.
