My 27A has been a great trimmer for over 7 years. I added the auto load trim head and love it.

Your machine looks in great shape for its age. Sounds like it could use a cab rebuild or adjustments on the jets(high speed)? Should be able to scream a lot higher than what its doing on the video. I feel Kawasaki Strings trimmers were great trimmers. Bought one back in 1986($320.00) and it's still running great and never had anything changed but wear item parts like plugs, air filters and now a gas tank since the original tank got hard and cracked.
Replaced fuel lines and the trimmer head and one time all the bearings(bushings) inside of the shaft. Mines is a very small TD18(only 18cc engine) but it screams and its still going strong, well for it's size. Mines is so old, most parts I get for it like the tank is a universal tank that I needed to modified my brackets for it to fit. I mostly use it to play around with now since it's so old. Still using my old Shindaiwa T270 for 20+ years and it's great also and just keeps going.
Just bought a new Maruyama B270L Turbo and just love that machine now. Going to try a Stihl in the near future. See if someone can look at that KTFR27B high speed jet adjustment for you or if they can rebuild the carb on it'. I'm sure it will rev up a whole lot higher and then you won't have the bog issue or the low performance. 2 strokes are built to have the power to scream. I been working on them and all of the name brand motocross engines from the 70's and they are all very well built, Just my 2 cents.

The trimmer makes power its just the carburetor is non adjustable for low speed due to emission regulations.
This means that it bogs down in the mid range as it runs too lean. If you could adjust the needle in the carb you could correct this so the transition from low to high would be instant.
If you slowly advance the throttle to full power and use a 2.4mm line it should scream at the top.

I could hear the on/off throttle with your finger.. 2 stroke are meant to go into tough stuff wide open.. Wind the bitch up and let it eat on wet weeds!! Just saying!! I might have a few years of ditch clearing under my belt!! I have the KBL27BC and have no issues WHATSOEVER

Keep it while you can. I work on them and they were the best. The trimmers weigh less and have more power than any other and run cleaner.

It’s not bogging because of the grass ……it sounds like it needs a carb adjustment OR it’s not getting enough gas .

Have you tried better line? The whitish/ clear colored round line that comes standard with the kawasakis isn't good! it's not even shown in their catalog the default line. The catalog shows red colored line. I would try 0.95 Echo Crossfire or gator line and see how it does with that. I tried a Kawasaki KTF27A years back and liked it. Seemed powerful, the line screwed up and broke off at the head but the motor itself never had an issue! Very little vibration and comfortable units for user operation. I have an Echo SRM265S trimmer though. But I have a Kawasaki hedge trimmer and Kawasaki blower and love them!

I have some crossfire line around here i will try. Its not a bad trimmer it is well balanced with very little vibration.
always starts easy its just the whole lack of any power that bothers me.
      hopefully the better line helps

I just removed a broken feed head off my Kawasaki 27 , it was a job.. I basically had to cut the plastic head off with a hacksaw, Then I took a flat screw driver with a hammer and hit around the inside plastic around nut so I could grab it with vise grip , Then I realized the echo /popular heads won't fit the smaller screw on shaft 😂.... So a Kawasaki head is needed
