He's bringing the tradition and the spirit of the Canterbury Scene into the contemporary alternative musical context nowadays. He should never be compared w. JC in the first place lol
@@LouSmith i feel u there dawg, nothing from black midi ever hit like magician did for me The first time i heard the song was magical Tears were definitely shedded
I’ve given this new sound a good few listens in the course of trying to mix it here, and I’m really loving it more with each listening. Geordie seems more relaxed than when I’ve seen him previously too.
@@LouSmithoh wow congratulations! Lou I work in an interesting situation, and I’d love to interview you as part of my work. Where can I contact you to give you some more information, if that would be okay? Thank you
Lou, thank you for your amazing work! There's no other way I'd be able to keep up with this scene from Australia otherwise. If you ever need mixing done for these videos please hit me up I'd be more than happy to do it for free
Get in! Yeah, It took a few days to get the stems. Vocals are clearer, so worth it just for that. Lemme know what you think. I'm not a sound engineer, so just tweaked it to sound decent on my (not really audio optimised) system. Enjoy, anyway.
@@LouSmith sounds pretty good considering the speed you got it out! i know mixing an hour of stems can only be a headache and considering your position it sounds very nice. i am curious though would you be willing to post the stems at all? would love to have a crack at it lol
@skellys_stuff 🙏 yeah I’m sure they could be tweaked to be really good. I only have a free software download for mixing, which is clunky to say the least. Re stems. I am able to access them due to my long standing relationship with the Windmill, and with Geordie from his earliest Windmill appearances, and I wouldn’t want to betray that trust by making them available to third parties. I specifically asked G for permission to film beforehand, just so I feel confident in posting here. He knows that Greep fans will obsess over it and get them beyond excited for the release. You could try contacting the Windmill directly and offer to do a mix for them to include on one of the records they release from time to time. You never know. All the best.
The Jacob Collier of good music
I had to look him up!
🤣🤣🤣

I don’t even understand this 😂
@@ookiiani Wait!
Jacob Collier the Elder or Jacob Collier the Younger?
Through a War is such a great song
Isnt it though? Maybe the best of his new ones.
It’s a beaut
Greeps stuff sounding good. Cheers Lou 👍🏻
Yay! Really good. Thanks.
Nice to hear greep with the better mix, he’s an interesting critter fs
Thanks. Easier to make out the vocals here with less of the room 'verb.
Thanks for making me watch this a third time.
Haha! You’re welcome. It’s well worth a third watch. I’ve watched it at least twice that 😃 won’t be long now until release.
The final section of The Magician was so intense
It’s beautiful. Call me a heretic, but this is speaking to me more than BM.

I guess the clue is in the name! 😉
This is an exceptionally talented and focused young man, I will have to give Black MIDI a second ear. Montana approved mod prog.

Nice job to everyone involved: Geordie, the band, the audience, the technicians and you, Lou Smith, for taking and sharing the recording.
Thank you!! You’re welcome. ☺️
This is so sick thank you!
I agree. You’re welcome.
Magnifique!
Vraiment!
October 4th can’t come quick enough.
My daughter’s birthday!

Thank you. I’m glad my efforts are being felt from far afield. And thanks for the offer. I may take you up on that.
haha are they just teasing magician between every song now?
are we there yet? ;)
literally was just listening to the original rip you uploaded until this popped in my recommended lol

@rocftcdenlaf I’m stone deaf in one ear since last year. Definitely a handicap.
just found out geordie greep is korean
I didn't know Walthamstow was a province of Korea.
This sounds even more zappa than BM.
More Frank than Black.
does anyone know how tall he is having a huge crush on him right now
He’s definitely shorter than me. I’m six foot.
He's about 1.70m give or take.
@@LouSmith thanks for the cm clarification🫡
