While this isn't technically a weather event, the explosion produces a wave in the trailer. You can scratch point 2 since they confirmed it a looong time ago that the game is going to be a Single player experience first and multiplayer is only an extra.
Yeah, the Single-Multiplayer experience is the toughest thing to tag to Subnautica 2. If possible, no dialogue at all. Character customization is a meh if they plan on going that route. Hopefully, it does well. One thing I hope they do get right is also the gene editing. There is a plethora of routes to take in that direction. Especially if you can take DNA sequences from Leviathans that can make interactions unique. More structures is also nice to hear. And, of course, the ever-so-asked-for, Proximity Chat. As far as something I'd want. Ngl, most of what Subnautica 2 promises/features is pretty great. Maybe in Subnautica 3 or some other spin-off, I'd like to see a more darker experience with ACTUAL military grade equipment, hostile fauna, and instead of starting at the surface and making your way down, you start in the deepest parts of the ocean and survive your way up. I mean, it would be a good twist, plus I'd like to see the bite that Alterra and corporations like them have face against the terrors of the deep abyss. Granted, at that point, there really wouldn't be much more for the franchise to go. But, it's better to have an end than to see a game be kept on life support and lose touch.
I wonder if they will let you customize the characters or have 4 premade characters to chose from Honestly that’s a pretty fun idea! Imagine starting at the core of the planet and having to fight your way out and escape. Sounds like a fun spin off mode
@@Primacon Could be multiple premade characters? Custom character creation is another route, but I don't think that will be the case. Probably due to it being easier to just select from a few character models than having the game render in all the character aspects of a custom. Plus, if gene editing is self-applicable and displays physical alterations on the model, the premades could handle it better. And, yeah, I'm curious about humanity's military. I think it would be great to see what kind of military force allows for a space-faring society to thrive in worlds that, likely, foster hostile ecologies. And what better way to test it than to have them start out at the very deepest chasm of an ocean littered with Leviathans. It's exciting, but, again, at that point the story would likely come to a close as the switch will be made and the book closes. At that point, Subnautica would be over, as this would be the final point that the tone would turn from a sandbox-story-survival to a Shooter-Sandbox-Story. So, best keep this until Subnautica wants to end.
One thing I hope they add is making the characters customizable (like skin color and hair color and hair style), so me and my friends can make us look more like well us while we play the game so we feel even more like we ARE the characters, dunno if they already said there will be character customization, haven't been reading much on Subnautica 2 I'll be honest, just the basic stuff
Dude you know what would be sick? A random join mode where you join with randoms in hardcore mode, and when you use a walkie talkie or proximity chat like the others suggest in the comments and your friend MAY have died, you get the most dramatic Subnautica scene. OR you could spawn at different lifepods with multiple different people and you try to locate eachother and beat the game. It would be so sick to have like 10 people trying to escape the void and sacrificing themselves. AND you can actually use the radio to send custom messages to eachother. It could be voice chat or PDA voice. (Sorry for the yap btw, I’m just reallly REALLY hype. And pls pin or like so others can see my ideas.)
I think proximity chat + hard mode would be so scary in subnautica 2. especially if some creatures could hear you, imagine talking to your friend while your cyclops (or something like it) glides through a really deep area, you hear a bump, the ship looses power or starts flooding, you hear your friend at the back say. "i'll go out, dont worry" you wait on the radio, talking to him, then you hear his scream outside and know he's not coming back. on this world. (would also be cool if people bleed, so you see your friends blood float by the window) *edit* they should have certain key areas like minecrafts strongholds but the game should have procedural generation, and creatures that migrate if you mess up their home to much. (or leviathans that stalk you) so you could be in a supposedly "safe" biome, maybe with some small harmful creatures, but then the scene i described could happen and it would be so unexpected in a place like that. *tiny other thing* custom characters, basically, choose gender and design face and hair
The best open world games are ones that give you a vehicle in which to cross a vast nothing with scattered points of interest in the middle and around the edges. What Skyrim, Fallout4, and almost every other open world did wrong was refusing to give you a vehicle. Also fast travel should be replaced by faster ways of travelling. Teleporting to previously visited map markers means that after the first few minutes you stop experiencing the open world and start resenting new points of interest.
i'd be fine if voiced protagonist was more serious and less yap fr. i think it'd also be cool if they're was death screams when your dying in a death animation
i just hope we got giant submarine and super big and DEEP but i mean deep like 5+Kilometer each kilometer you go deeper the hardest it is, better sub you need, more ressource and energy, i dont mind the biomes being 3-4 times bigger than the first game even if we get barren zone in certain zone or in the middle of certain biomes that can act as shortcut but are dangerous because of leviathans. i would like to see some sort of Ai in creature that wander in largers area instead of having small zones where the same creatures always spawns
I get why a lot of people don’t like Below Zero, personally I rlly enjoy characters that talk and we’re more of an observer to their story. Yet, it’s very obvious that it just doesn’t capture that same vibe from the og Subnautica game that gave you a real sense of dread and isolation. I’m very excited for the second game, while I am a bit disappointed that we’re going to a different planet since I feel they could do more with 4546B and the Architects, I am always happy to see more alien sea creatures. Also, HEAVILY appreciate you talking about the main issues people have with Below Zero while not completely shitting on the game.
Yeah of course! Personally below zero isn’t for me but that’s not necessarily because it’s bad or anything, but it’s just different then what I look for in Subnautica! I’m glad it exists for the people who like it. It also has a banger OST
Looks great! And considering how the game will have co-op, the developers should really consider giving the players a character customization option so that we can create the look of the characters. I also hope the bring back the Cyclops and Seamoth. The Subnautica 2 World should also much larger and deeper that Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero - Combined. For technology, I think they could introduce the liquid breathing technology that has been researched for the past couple of decades.
I know it has nothing to do with Subnautica 2 and im also hyped on that game. But Silksong is now also listed on Steam Key sites to buy it but with no price, if i recall correctly it was not there before. So it might acutally come out "soon" xD
It would be cool to see them try and bring back the Atlas submarine Although, this submarine would make the most sense as a larger alternative to another cyclops like submarine in the game. I feel that the Atlas would better cater to a Co-op team than something like the cyclops would be able to It wouldn't even be a bad thing if the main story caves cannot be accessed with the Atlas, as it gives a challenge to invest in other smaller transports or to explore the caves through swimming
Love everything he said, just missed a few things: 1. BRING OVER ALL THE CONTENT FROM THE PREVIOUS 2 GAMES. Mechanics, Tools, Vehicles, and Features. I have NEVER seen a game aside from Dragon Age & Mass Effect ever successfully pull this off. Or come close. 2. Expand the WORLD GRADUALLY!!! I love what he said about the amazing open world being huge and full of Life! And it IS possible to have the best of both worlds, (Lol, get it?). You just have to do so over time rather than all at once. Here's how: Release, Craft, and Expand the world through Patches & Updates. Sections at a time. This allows them to actually shape and craft it with detail and love rather than procedurally generate a pos. 3. Add Dynamic Encounters & Situations to each Zone. What I mean by that is, some games have things called Random Events & or Area Bosses. Creatures or Events that have a percentage of a chance to happen but isn't always guaranteed to happen. But if it does, gives the Player the opportunity to earn something special from that encounter. Whether it be Loot, Information, or some sort of Trophy. I really think Subnautica 2 could benefit from such a system. And if you randomize these possibilities both when they could happen, and what happens, it adds new Life and Enjoyment to the game. 4. Depth to the World! And I don't mean literal Depth, but that too, I mean Substance and a Deep level of Creativity and Beauty to the World. As well as Variety to different extremes. Think Arks different Weather Areas and you'll get the idea. The first game had that, and I really loved that, and it wasn't one right next to the other only. Sometimes you would have to genuinely explore and travel to encounter new Zones and Climates that contained their own Uniqueness and Benefits. Keep that going! 5. Make the Story Linear, but make certain events and points in the story Dynamic based on certain criteria. That would mean that if a Player spent the Early game prepping and gathering up materials and really building themselves up, that the Story would reflect that by either acknowledging how far along the player is, or by making it harder or easier depending on where they're at. So if for instance, a Player grinded all early game by ignoring goals like building a base and going straight for the Cyclops. And then went into the Lava Zone and Built a Base instead of Building in the Shallows like most would. That they would then have to make due with what's available going forward, unless they chose to abandon that base and return to the shallows to better prep before their next attempt. Or think somehow saving the Aurora or the Rescue ship and actually succeeding and ending the game early. I don't know if that makes sense to anyone else though. Anyway, those are my 5 things and ideas I would like to see incorporated into S2. Oh wait, TIME CAPSULES!! I really loved that idea. It was nice to find loot and stories of other players and their enjoyment of the game and getting a helping hand in my story when I wasn't expecting it. That was one of my favorite features.
I really want them to add the ability to create mapping drones. And also augmented reality, displaying map data on the locality (can be hidden if desired). Let them only be able to survey a certain area due to radio range limitations. Let them be able to be eaten by creatures, which would make it harder to map areas with dangerous leviathans. Let several drones be released relatively close to each other, so that they triangulate their location from each other and from the base, and if several are destroyed, the rest will simply get lost. Also, since they are adding the ability to edit and analyze genes, let them add the ability to create computers, because processing genetic information must be computationally complex. And data storage, to move data from one base to another, since radio signals do not reach very far in the ocean.
The 2 things that scare me are the fact that they're revamping the building system and idk what to expect and the fact that from the screenshots the biomes look simmilar to below zero where there's pretty much no smooth transition
I want the ability to upgrade vehicles and add modifications like a prawn suit that can walk on walls because it has six legs or extra attachments on all vehicles
There's no problem with the protagonist having voicelines. You can have the phobia with it at the same time, also voicelines can enchance the main story. I really enjoyed the conversations in below-zero too, it was just perfect. Although the Leviathans didn't had an impact like in the original, so your main problem might be with the shapes. Also a huge world with no substance could make the game feel empty. Being vast and empty are both different things. Vast is something that has content. Although having a co-op option doesn't make the game focused on it. Usually games like this are made singleplayer, after that it's configured into co-op, so in this case, co-op doesn't ruin your experience.
I'd be down with a voice protagonist if it wasn't focused on yapping and is more serious. like having voicelines that play when it would make sense like your character panicking and breathing heavily when he sees a levithan. it'd be cool too if there was actual death screams when your dying in a death animation
There should be plants that house minerals you need to collect but act like traps, I would like to see more environmental threats to make it feel more alien.
I watched Anthomnias video from a while ago and the dev he spoke to said even though it has co op it will be focused as a single player game with co op just another option
imagine if like, you could go from planet to planet, like no mans sky but your in a specific solar system and this one in particular has only oceanic planets one of those being 4546B and other planets, and your able to travel to those other planets making a rocket
i loved how you talked about the multiplayer aspect i also agree that the game shouldn't focus on multiplayer rather than single player it should go both ways, like the example you said "cuphead"
Day thirteen of giving primacon random rainworld tips and very real spoilers until he continues his rainworld playthrough. Tip of the day: if you are starving, backflipping with a flying cuttlefish in your hand can allow you to fly indefinitively. Spoiler of the day: the steve griffin dlc is required to beat rainworld, but costs $1000. It is sickening to see videocult be so greedy..
How about the single player mode of Subnautica 2 being centered around one player, and multiplayer mode centered around mote than one player. Simple solution.
I feel like they could do something like the Nexus from no Man's sky so you can come back or like expeditions what's something like that what are the continued story like every week just like bonus story that allows you to get like deeper into the lore
Think it being on a different planet is stupid. Most of the creatures in the trailer besides one barely look any different from what you see on planet 4546B.
Everyone keeps talking about proximity chat that would be nice yes but this game is a survival game so if your friend goes silent you'll just see him respawning or a death message so it doesnt really matter
ligit you just explained all of my preferences XD. being a hardcore subnautica fan, im hoping they do i right. i have ben waiting for subnatica 2 for years and if they make the same mistakes as bz i prob gonna be upset.
They need to bring back Cheats. In the firstone if you were in the Menu and pressed L3+R3 you got alot of cheats wich was nice to have if you wanna mess around abit.
Yeah biggest lie about "co-op" is optional is in valheim and similiar games, and my favorite to hate, fallout 76. in survival everything just take 4-10 times longer. But in F76... whole game economy and mechanics are balance on fact that its multiplayer. And even if you play solo, world is still expecting other players to take part in GROUP EVENTS, WORLD BOSSES, other timed shit and stuff.
Exactly my point. Although I’m hearing for people now that the devs of Subnautica actually addressed this and said they are making the game around single player first. And multiplayer is just an add on. I hope they stick to that !
It would devolve to a shooter then. Part of why it was so good was that you never quite got an equalizer for the more dangerous creatures and they stayed a threat
I feel like Subnautica should take place on planet 4546b ittl be fun the have a new planet but ittl take away from the nostalgia of being on the planet where this amazing franchise started and we wont see any relitives of the og creatures we know and love like reaper leviathans or peepers i feel like it wont be as good as the first game if it dosent take place on the planet it started on that my be my nostalgia talking but i do hope it takes place on planet 4546b
I really hope they bring back the original pda, the subzero pda doesn't seem robotic and like an ai, it feels condescending and makes some political remarks
Personally I agree with you. But it’s a complain I’ve heard from a lot of people. I think it gets boring for people as upgrades and structures start to lose their value. I liked what they did with below zero, having a portable item scanner
Lot of good points. But being able to basically build your own tunnel through the whole map to reach your goal, not so much. It would make the game far to eay and boring cause you cont have to cross dangerous biomes anymore, just dig straight down and be done with it.
Imagine if there’s proximity chat, unlocking a walkie talkie and it gets harder to hear your friend the deeper you go. Compared to the person at the base which has a big radius to hear everyone, then silence, from which you don’t know your friend’s fate, to go down with them or swim back.

I wonder if they will let you customize the characters or have 4 premade characters to chose from
Honestly that’s a pretty fun idea!
Proxy chat should be a chip just like the compass that gets worse the further the friend swim a part
I hope there are a lot of meaningful upgrades!
the soundtrack, like matching it to each biome, imo it added so much to the game, 1st one especially
I would LOVE the idea of proximity chat - that would be a fine lemon glaze on a 10 layer cake.
Who’s ready for jacks playthrough and 8bitryan
If they did multiplayer together 🙏🙏🙏
Who?
And thinknoodles
Im ao ready for that!!
So hyped
I think proximity chat + hard mode would be so scary in subnautica 2. especially if some creatures could hear you, imagine talking to your friend while your cyclops (or something like it) glides through a really deep area, you hear a bump, the ship looses power or starts flooding, you hear your friend at the back say. "i'll go out, dont worry" you wait on the radio, talking to him, then you hear his scream outside and know he's not coming back. on this world. (would also be cool if people bleed, so you see your friends blood float by the window)
*edit*
they should have certain key areas like minecrafts strongholds but the game should have procedural generation, and creatures that migrate if you mess up their home to much. (or leviathans that stalk you) so you could be in a supposedly "safe" biome, maybe with some small harmful creatures, but then the scene i described could happen and it would be so unexpected in a place like that.
*tiny other thing*
custom characters, basically, choose gender and design face and hair
with the helmets it wouldn't really make a while lot of sense they would hear you talking imo
Exactly!! I hope they can make travel fun
You can use horses in skyrim
Also, the official Subnautica UA-cam account shows a really good look of the new Peeper-like creature. Not anything mind-blowing but its pretty cool
Oh that’s cool!!
You’re character breathing heavy or cursing when you see a predator would be cool
Yeah! Little things like that add up to a lot!
That would probably ruin the immersion
i'd be fine if voiced protagonist was more serious and less yap fr. i think it'd also be cool if they're was death screams when your dying in a death animation
The main focus should still be exploration and the vibe of each biome
i just hope we got giant submarine and super big and DEEP but i mean deep like 5+Kilometer each kilometer you go deeper the hardest it is, better sub you need, more ressource and energy, i dont mind the biomes being 3-4 times bigger than the first game even if we get barren zone in certain zone or in the middle of certain biomes that can act as shortcut but are dangerous because of leviathans. i would like to see some sort of Ai in creature that wander in largers area instead of having small zones where the same creatures always spawns
being able to build a radio within your base talk and with a homie across the map with his radio through proximity chat would be so cool
I hope they add more variety in temperature/biomes, so in one area a dry area and you swim
to the other side of the map and have ice bergs.
It has been there for years unfortunately!
Oh ok then it is my bad ^^
It would be cool to see them try and bring back the Atlas submarine
Although, this submarine would make the most sense as a larger alternative to another cyclops like submarine in the game.
I feel that the Atlas would better cater to a Co-op team than something like the cyclops would be able to
It wouldn't even be a bad thing if the main story caves cannot be accessed with the Atlas, as it gives a challenge to invest in other smaller transports or to explore the caves through swimming
My one wish for this game is for them to add the single cell biome, itd be SOO cool!
Just thought of this but what about vehicle building as in you take parts you made and put them together to make a custom vehicle
Love everything he said, just missed a few things:
Here's how:
Release, Craft, and Expand the world through Patches & Updates.
10:17 let alone finding 3 more friends who will all want to play the same games
I want a proper 3d map this time around. Obviously not a full map at start. Just give me tools that let me map the terrain myself as I go.
slightly concerning but a year ago i dreamed of being in a subnautica world, and one of the dream biomes looks exactly like the thumbnail
This game needs to have a liminal horror vibe
I think they could tweak certain things like resource distribution depending on if you’re playing alone or with friends
Imagine a new prawn suit with 4 arms, you could just have 4 torpedoes and annihilate any leviathan, or 4 grapples for insane movement
They should add a feature where if you have 2 grapple arms you can slingshot like in spiderman 2
That sounds epic ngl
I think they should take the part of ark where the supplies needed and enemies healths are lowered to fit multiplayer vs single player.
There should be plants that house minerals you need to collect but act like traps, I would like to see more environmental threats to make it feel more alien.
I watched Anthomnias video from a while ago and the dev he spoke to said even though it has co op it will be focused as a single player game with co op just another option
Dude! I’m so hyped for this
Me too! Can’t wait to make more content on this game
One thing they need to get right is the atmosphere and the leviathans
all i want is something bigger than the cyclops that you can drive also all the vehicles from previous games
I just hope the thalasophobia vibes will still be strong. I'm not a horror person but I ADORE how subnautica terrifies me
as a barotrauma medic main, i fw the gene mechanic
I loved below zero, the sound track was awesome, some of the areas are truly beautiful ❤
imagine if like, you could go from planet to planet, like no mans sky but your in a specific solar system and this one in particular has only oceanic planets one of those being 4546B and other planets, and your able to travel to those other planets making a rocket
I want them to bring back the cuddle fish and give it the option for it to become a leviathan (or atleast be useful in some way)
i loved how you talked about the multiplayer aspect i also agree that the game shouldn't focus on multiplayer rather than single player it should go both ways, like the example you said "cuphead"
It realy needs to get the lonlyless right with the multiplayer
9:46 why are you showing footage of a very old version of drg?
Tbh it might be harder to play in solo that in co.op. Since they will probably(if done right). Make the map much bigger
How about the single player mode of Subnautica 2 being centered around one player, and multiplayer mode centered around mote than one player. Simple solution.
bruh what does this even mean
Can't wait for the new subsong cope!
Hehe imaging if both the games come out together
@@Primacon No way, didn't expect you to heart this!
To be honest I absolutely believe something like that will happen 😂
Procedural terrain generation could be good for replay value
I feel like they could do something like the Nexus from no Man's sky so you can come back or like expeditions what's something like that what are the continued story like every week just like bonus story that allows you to get like deeper into the lore
5:48 no pun intended
Think it being on a different planet is stupid.
Most of the creatures in the trailer besides one barely look any different from what you see on planet 4546B.
If they actually use ue5 it better be optimized but it probably won’t be
MAH BOY PRIMACON
it made a comeback when it was still popular
The goat is cooking 🔥🔥
Everyone keeps talking about proximity chat that would be nice yes but this game is a survival game so if your friend goes silent you'll just see him respawning or a death message so it doesnt really matter
I think it needs water
I just hope there's MacOS support, since it's unreal engine 5, I think? I doubt they'll make a MacOS version, but one can dream.
Pretty sure its the same planet, just in another side. 4546B is about Earth Size.
The real thing it needs to get right is leave early access before silksong
crafting from base inventory instead of player inventory.
I need a Cyclops like vesul in this game!!!!
Better not give us some ass vehicle like the seatruck was in BZ
I still wanna ride my reaper leviathan. 😔🤚
It needs to have the size and depth of play of the original.
ligit you just explained all of my preferences XD. being a hardcore subnautica fan, im hoping they do i right. i have ben waiting for subnatica 2 for years and if they make the same mistakes as bz i prob gonna be upset.
I don't like the idea of terraforming. Kinda harms the exoloration aspect if you can just bore tunnels
Yeah i thought about that after a lot of people pointed that out and i gotta say i agree
They need to bring back Cheats. In the firstone if you were in the Menu and pressed L3+R3 you got alot of cheats wich was nice to have if you wanna mess around abit.
Devil uppers💯🔥🔥
I hate the fact it's a new planet
Yeah biggest lie about "co-op" is optional is in valheim and similiar games, and my favorite to hate, fallout 76. in survival everything just take 4-10 times longer. But in F76... whole game economy and mechanics are balance on fact that its multiplayer. And even if you play solo, world is still expecting other players to take part in GROUP EVENTS, WORLD BOSSES, other timed shit and stuff.
Its not that multi is standard and solo is an option. Its the other way around
Exactly my point. Although I’m hearing for people now that the devs of Subnautica actually addressed this and said they are making the game around single player first. And multiplayer is just an add on. I hope they stick to that !
I wish you could hack the fabricator to make guns, because killing the kraken thing from the trailer won’t happen with a hot knife.
You're not supposed to kill stuff in the game, you're supposed to avoid them
It would devolve to a shooter then.
Am I the only one who wanted the reaper to come back
All valid points
I really hope they bring back the original pda, the subzero pda doesn't seem robotic and like an ai, it feels condescending and makes some political remarks
"resource farming is boring" it's not.
