I don't know how I ended up watching this.
Same dude
Just imagine stepping on them without foot wear.
Imagine eating them... without footwear.
Imagine seeing them without foot wear
Imagine imagining them... without footwear.
imagine foot wear them without stepping
Imagine hearing them without foot wear
I love gooseneck! I ate them in Portugal! I think they boil them in salty water and after you eat them with fresh lemon! And enjoy all the opening part!
Since ive clicked my first Barnacle video ive ended up in a spiral of Fascination and Disgust sliding downwards the seemingly inexhaustable supply of barnacle related content. Help me
They are so appallingly interesting
@@POOPGOD999 Perfect way to describe it. They seem so alien, when they're actually an evolution of much more visually familiar crustaceans. Adaptation is fascinating, and the case of barnacles, pretty creepy as well.
@@philthycoder you should look at deep sea fish, just as weird and diverse just not as gross lol
Taste like mussles. Tried em at a tapas place, they're called Percebes. Got a bowl with a whole bunch of small ones for 12 euro. Fun to eat and decent taste, but I probably won't order it again unless I'm with someone else who's interested in trying it.
is it safe to eat tho? arent people like groupwing barnicle fungai or something on their skin?
Loved this! This was everything I want from a newscast: an informative and interesting story on something I wasn't aware of, why it could be important, and the people it impacts. I'm so happy the National has a UA-cam channel!
I agree.
Your all CRAZY.
At Portugal we eat for many many years already, and doesn't cust 80£, much but much more cheaper..
Im from spain. Depends on percebes quality but betwen 20-80 euros/ kilo.
reporter is disrupting the fisherman's day of work
hopefully the fisherman asked to be paid for a day's work for this demo.
I despise barnacles. I wish i could scrape all the barnacles off of whales.
and turtles
As a swimmer I despise barnacles also.
Not the same barnacles, dude.
Great upload
Thank you for the story
I want to try it!
im from Rosarito Mexico. We have lots of gooseneck barnacles on our rocky beaches where i fish. they grow around with the muscles ..im going to try them!!!
A Native American named Andrew Jackson? That’s unfortunate lol
So true!😳
Wooowww. Hopefully one day can taste it
Wow I've seen other Barnacles and those are huge and look very meaty, I could see why those are the prime location for tasty meaty Barnacles.
I think they should be named dragon feet barnacles hehe
Yo the harvester is Crafton with a gnarly tan 😂
Great story. Do your life jacket up!
This makes me physically ill. What is the need to do this?? Horrible.
You weak!
OMG, if it is that dangerous, wrong place for this reporter to do an interview as there is only a specific amount of time for the tide to come back. Percebes are delicious.
I wanted to see what barnacle boys origins and great ancestors were from spongebob
Omg are you kidding me barnacle ar creepy
You can tell that the comments are mostly written by a very superficial unintelligent young people who only see things for their aesthetic value they can't see any deeper than that they can't see that that is a food source and has been for thousands of years. Grow up. Learn to enjoy the little things in life there are so many things on this Earth that have value and have meaning and have purpose. God bless xo
Good for him
Sushmita: never knew they existed - interesting 🤔
Man that would be insanely painful if you stepped on that without thick shoes or boots. Now I want to eat them.
awesome get the barnacles boys cause you will be saving the turtles
these are not the kind of Barnacles that attach to turtles :v
Those in the Iberian peninsula taste way better and are way harder to harvest
They are delicious. To me it tastes like clams.
Are you kidding me? 3/11/11
💖 love ya,
👍😉 have a great day, ✌We are!
...what?
I wish they would just talk about the barnacle and not how to eat it
Why is he throwing away the mussels?? Such a waste 🙁
Such a waste .. I was thinking of the same thing..
I was thinking the same thing.
Damn 2023 and you can only harvest 10 in Oregon
Mom, I want to be a barnacle harvester when I grow up.
very good
really that order gave you only 1 pc
Di Indonesia ada.. Banyak. Tapi mau jual, belum punya buyer yang mau beli nya.. 🙏🏻
Sebelah mana bro, pantai mana
Di kebumen mas..
Apa punya buyer mas..?
@@yanuarwibowo7994 nggak sih mas pen berburu aja rasanya kayak gmn penasaran saya
these look delicious tbh
At $80/pound for barnacles, I'll stick with lobster and tiger prawns and sashimi-grade tuna...
try them if you get the chance
in Portugal i buy this directly from the fishermen for 10€ the kilo
you don't want to give em a try? maybe just a few bites?
@@pdyaz11 eu também em Viana do Castelo tenho colegas que vendem dos bons! Mas os melhorzinhos são da Corunha haha
Gone get the word out!!! What your doing would be over. Industries would clean up the whole area for profit.
2:04 weak wave 😂😂😂
I am interested
Benda banyak rugi kalau tak ambil. Harga pula mahal. Orang rajin pasti dapat ganjaran.
Is that lord obama
Pound??
Wow where you
It's too hard and tedious to harvest them by fishing them yourselves. And dangerous.
thats allot of food
So basically this fishing is now exclusive to the First Nation tribes ?
❤
Is that guy just gutting them out then ripping them to pieces while the are alive? Dude is Savage af.
They don't have "guts"
crap that's a ton of barnacles and mussels. do you need a permit to harvest there or is anyone allowed to go there?
Jay S you are not. That’s all you have to know.
What kind of sauce is best with this?
Lemon is just perfect
Crustaceans? Aren't they mollusks?
No, they're crustaceans.
So is anybody else even a little troubled by these people dislodging mussels and then just tossing them? There’s a market for mussels. I love gooseneck barnacles. And by the way, they taste nothing like mussels as somebody commented here or like crab as the narrator suggests.. They call them “poor man’s lobster“ for a reason. But good God, people, let’s see some stewardship of the organisms you’re throwing away. And don’t give me any crap about “they won’t go to waste because something else will eat them.“ This video gets a hard thumbs down.
What is it about 'barnacles' that sounds so.....unappetizing?
Barnacles/ testicles 🤮lol
These make me wanna puke :(
So now we know how our former president spends his time these days :D
chris brown - in clap clap sound
👏
Damn! Some folks will eat anything. Damn things look gross as hell.
Hope he didn't thow those lovely muscles away
Yuck barnacles 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
I love Percebes
Sponge bob is happy
Doesn't sound good for the future envirment.

will you eat a hot dog?
Well maybe not that appealing in look but those things are actually tasty XD
Dragon hand
Those things grow all over Long Beach California never thought anything of them they just look gross know what they say the ugliest things are usually the sweetest
Why españols never taught us that these can be eaten?
No thank you sir
That Harvester looks like a Japanese Obama
Humans sure top the food chain. We eat every and anything. Daaammmnnn!!!! Scavenging consumers human brings are 😳😳😳😳
Eses percebes no son de buena calidad ,en Galicia les llaman " meones " mucha agua y poca carne
Pero es que se comen esas porquerias???son repugnantes, asquerosos,me vomito,a que saben??
I find barnacles extremely annoying
TIL that Gooseneck barnacles are edible.
Y’all eat anything
Ho Dios nunca permitas que yo coma esos animales repugnantes
Soooo disgusting 🤢 can’t believe they eat them. Just threw up in my mouth 👄
lol definitely not that dangerous “every time you step off the put you put your life on the line” lol go fish in Alaska dude
small and manageable ? playing God. Good luck with that attitude
ewwwww.......they look disgusting! i didn't know u can eat barnacles! ur not gonna get me to eat those weird looking creatures thats for sure!
i guess that's what happens when you knock up your girlfriend in highschool, you end up overharvesting barnacles, the guy will be all defensive and say "I have to take care of my four kids" and you'll be like "i thought you had 1?" and then the guy will say "yeah i got a vasectomy after the first one but she said it must have reconnected itself. it happens"
Ok boomer
Obama?
Now this is the conment ive been looking for.
I don't think God wanted us to eat those
Exploxer25 if god doesnt want us eat those, he can just make it inedible
Achmad Dhani Maulana i think he did, have you seen the shells😂
Will Anderson the shells are protection from predator, and yet human still can eat it because they have intelligence to break the shells, if god really doesnt want to eat it they can make it poisonous, but still with human intelligence like fugu fish that suppose to be poisonous, we can eat it, and im not god either, so i can judge what animals are inedible or edible, and after all it not really depends on god, but human intelligence
Achmad Dhani Maulana I was joking but ok
Will Anderson well ok
Ew
Harvesting from the land? You’re harvesting a living thing.. I’m all for sustainability but true land harvests are strictly plant based!!
A Hint Of Lemon That's a "no true Scotsman". Besides, they grow back.
Who told you that? Couldn't be farther from the truth.
