World Trade Center 1990

- My trip to the top of the World Trade Center in 1990 when I took part in a student exchange program. Maybe you'll get a little impression of how it was to climb the Twin Towers.
...the Twin Towers really impressed me more than the Grand Canyon. That's why I used to film and film ...- I had to cut off a lot.
Hard to believe all that is gone... so sad.
It’s unsettling now to see the views about three-quarters of the way through, looking at the plaza down below from way up in the towers, because we know that in the last moments of their lives, that was the view some people saw as they jumped. It’s so sad because I always wanted to visit Windows On The World to enjoy a meal and the view, but now we remember the horror of September 11, 2001. It’s comforting to know though that there had been happy occasions in the buildings at one time, before that horrible day in history.
90s, golden years
I heard that the last people to ever visit Windows on the World left just 4 minutes before Flight 11 hit. THANK GOD THAT THEY DID!
I wish it was 1990 again
I went up there in 2000. I miss that place :(
These were magical buildings, I miss them. Thank you for sharing this!
I was in New York in August of 2001 when I was turning 10, I wanted to see the WTC but my family didn't have time...now I can't. :(
Twin towers 1973-2001
god i wish i went there, i watch all these videos but its not the same as actually going there and seeing it youtself.
Amazing. These buildings shouldn't have gone.
Wow such good quality camera for 1990 I was born 3 years after this ^^
SHINeefan17 It was a US Ricoh camcorder Video 8 and I needed years before I could watch the videos because our camcorders in Germany are PAL and not NTSC ...
Must be a decent camera hence no interference off the north tower antenna which normally used to give off multiple RF signals creating a low pitched buzzing sound on most south tower roof top videos.
Thank you for uploading Sascha. Celebrate life and not death.
It was a Ricoh V8 Camcorder, the tapes are still in a pretty good shape.
I'm glad I got a chance to see the WTC right before it got attacked. I been up top too and it was pretty high.
Very nice clip, lovely to see how it was. Truly amazing constructions.
Wtc, R.I.P. and the people who lost theire lifes.
This is excellent footage of WTC
Greta job
My husband wanted to take me to the WTC just to see and be amazed, I will never have that chance again
Every time I think of the World Trade Center buildings my first thought is to get pissed. There are certain human beings on this planet I'd like to make dog food out of. There was an old friend of mine from New Jersey who was a former iron worker and he worked on the WTC. I remember some of the stories he told me about the job. Amazing
I was born in 2000, I wish I could’ve seen them years before that.
wow a old 20 recording the quility is great
beautiful buildings until September 11
@mrbubachuck - They were absolutely fascinating buildings!
i just came back from New York City a couple of days ago and i saw that ball that you showed in the first part of your video and it is now all torn and messed up ( it is now in Battery park after 9/11)
REBUILD THE TWIN TOWERS!!!!!!!
***** It's a little bit late for that ...
I know but they should rebuild them somewhere else in manhattan
The Israelis and CIA will just knock them down again.
President Trump wanted them to rebuilt too. Although stating so before he was President. The last time was in 2008/9 when the current project was going nowhere. And it still is btw. Huge costs, huge prizes, failing to get tenants or sell retail space.
President Trump still needs to make sure the Twin Towers get rebuild.
the real reason why they didnt is because they felt like it would be too familer to people who survied and people would be honeslty afaird to go in the new ones
Thanks for sharing this video on youtube. How much did it cost back in 1990 to go to the observation deck
Wonder of there were people on the top floor like this video that time the planes hit .. mustv been horrible seeing a jumbo jet comes at ya ..
You beat me by 3 years, I went with my wife on my honeymoon in 1993 but it was foyer only !!!!
Lucky you, i never got to go there, i regret it all the time. Now when my dad takes me there in april, instead of having happy thoughts about going to the top of the wtc, i cant. I cant even imagine being there on 9/11 its terrible and i hope that the people who are behind this go to hell. R.i.p 9/11.
they're truly beautiful arent they
God bless America!
@eseninobrandon Sorry for the late answer. I think that we had to pay but as we were in a big group I really don't remember how much ... maybe someone else knows it?
@MrSuperfly1994 2 minutes actually. Left at 8:44, attack at 8:46. Very lucky people.

1:34 ILLEGAL U-TURN by a cab!!!
How lucky are you ! I'm the same age as you but unfortunately i went to New York 4 september of 2007. I always wanted to see that towers with my own eyes (not in TV) but i won't have the chance. My parents went in NY in 1986 and they saw the world trade center but they weren't go to the observation deck. My mother told me that the towers were so impressive.
Doesn't look like a McDonalds...but definitely they sold burgers there ... :)
Great quality for the 90s
I was born June 1990.
was there a mac up there? 2:04
something I don't get. I strictly remember the snack bar facing north but it doesn't look it here
I guess he went there right before it got attacked ... he doesn't mean my video.
WOW
@weaponexpert1 - Ha, ha!! Can you see the license plate? ;)
@llovemovies917 why you said ''right before it got attacked'? this was filmed 11 years before 11/9 attacks.
Just think, some of the people in this video probably died in 2001. Sad ain't it :(
In 1999 it cost 12,50 $: Check out in Flickr alexeckford/6136323290/
Maybe I still have my ticket somewhere ... I'll let you know. :)
what camera you had back in early 90s, when technology was not as good as today?
Too late for that.
i'm born in the wrong period :(
8:58 that building was poorly built you can literally see the floor truss and the fire proofing no wonder the plane knocked off the fire proofing
Unfortunately, no amount of spray on fire proofing could save those buildings on 9/11
I will agree that it was poorly constructed from a floor standpoint and flimsy fireproofing .its strength came from its outer shell and its inner core it seemed that the intense heat melted the steel in other cases hot enough to compromise its strength and durability to set in motion a cascading effect its my belief if the steel was protected from the intense heat the building would have stood steadfast the same thing with wtc 7
