I was in jr high at the time playing pop Warner football just starting to become obsessed with the sport.. I remember watching this game live and being awestruck by Groots, I wanted Poly to win but in the end it didn’t matter.. I saw a performance so inspiring I still think about it once a week! So Cal HS football is still epic! \|/
Growing up, HS football in the South was something else. I knew about and seen the programs from Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Texas, etc., but when I got wind of ball on the West Coast, I was amazed. It was like the game was played different, the coaching was different, and the players looked to be more polished, like they could step in and play at D1 programs as Freshman, which says a lot.
Where is the complete game for this. I remember it was on UA-cam at once. Why was it taken down? UA-cam, I'm calling you out. Give us our High School Football. Fox Sports Net or West do not care. And the same goes for all the state championship games, where are they? And all the other great games that have been taken down or blocked. Grootegoed was a Dude. Most dominating performance I've ever seen. The end of the game his teammates were helping him stretch his soulder pads out so he could breathe better. Awesome game, would love to see in full.
Rollo had to have started in the 80s at MD. He definitely adapted to the times as his career progressed. This Mater Dei offense VS 2017 and beyond, total difference. One thing is the same, MD had elite players and the offensive line play is crisp.
