what do you add to give the wood that beautiful dark finish?? I got a beautiful piece as a gift recently and wanted to finish it. Any advice on what product to use would be great!!

MakeEmSad , sand it really fine with progressively finer sandpaper , cloth backed type, then when your happy with the result , apply oil/beeswax or both then buff gently by hand or with a wood floor buffing drill attachment. thats what i do for most of my sculptures & people seem to love them... hope that helps

Amanda Thorn Use water based stainers. I found out polyurethane stainers ruin paintbrushes lol.

How do i get that really nice natural but shiny finish. After the whole scraping and sanding process.
MakeEmSad , sand it really fine with progressively finer sandpaper , cloth backed type, then when your happy with the result , apply oil/beeswax or both then buff gently by hand or with a wood floor buffing drill attachment. thats what i do for most of my sculptures & people seem to love them... hope that helps
endurance Bees wax is all you use for polishing?
