I recognized you filming in line for the Submarine Voyage- you can see me wave at 10:44 of this video! Thanks for all your tips, it was a great help for planning and we had a fantastic weekend.
Not relevant to this video but popping in to say that your rope drop strategy of riding space mountain + a couple others things first, then riding Rise @9am was perfect! We waited less than 50 min and ended up not needing to buy genie plus because those golden hours (8-10) knocked out most of what we wanted to do. Big thanks from my whole family :)
Thank you! Hope you have a magical trip. We will be in DCA on the 1st for the start of Food and Wine Festival. If you see us, feel free to say hello. We always enjoy meeting folks.
When you go to Disney World and check out the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Check out the pic on the wall it's Mr Toad handing the keys to Owl. Since Mr toads ride was where Winnie the is now.
I can only handle the Matterhorn once per trip! I'm getting older and don't do well with the automatic back adjustment it gives me! 😆 I find it helps to pull yourself forward holding onto the roll bars in front of you so your back doesn't touch the seat. It's rough and rickety but a must do for nostalgic reasons. 😊
Thank you so much for making this video!! I've been crossing my fingers after suggesting it and was so excited to see it posted! This is so helpful for our upcoming trip!! Again, thank you!!!!
Hi we have been watching you all the way from New Zealand in prep for our first ever trip to the USA and to Disneyland specifically! Your videos have been amazing and we hope to bump into you in the parks - we are there 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 9th & 10th March! Very excited - a 14 hour flight but so worth it
I feel like every complaint about the Matterhorn makes me love it even more. It's a unique Disney experience well worth the discomfort, for me. And yes, I am old and broken, but I still love love love the "bone breaker" Matterhorn. I'll be riding next week as our yearly visit to Disneyland is almost here!!! (I'll be riding alone because nobody else in my family will ride it. *sigh*)
I LOVE the ride. It just hurts. The jostling hasn’t ever really bothered me much. But the last few times, just the way the seat configuration puts pressure on my hip has been exceptionally painful. I had to pull one of my legs out of the hole and sit semi-cross-legged. But there wasn’t really room to do that so it was kind of uncomfortable, but uncomfortable was better than stabbing pain in my hip.
I love watching your videos for the practical aspect - especially if you have young children. Good tips on wait lines and which rides are best for rope drop, hotel early release days, etc. Great video!
I have a few plans for various comparison style videos to help out WDW folks. Not sure when I’ll have them out, but they’re higher up on my ideas list.
Looks like the “Mark Twain” equivalent in WDW is the “Liberty Belle”-Liberty Square Riverboat. I didn’t realize that they had different names. Our family loves to visit both CA and FL parks, but I remember the first time visiting Magic Kingdom in WDW as a teenager and being shocked at the rides that were not there, but were at Disneyland. I was able to prepare my daughter before going to each park at both CA and FL though, so that was a good thing.
It’s good that there’s variety. Makes visiting both coasts fun. We are eagerly looking forward to our WDW trip in May. Just looking at Cinderella Castle to make the thumbnail had me wanting to go. 🤣
I'm learning so much from your vids. It looks quite busy there. What day were you filiming? Only just over 2 weeks left till I fly over !!! Can't wait!
If you are there every week, perhaps during the day, you can ask a conductor on what engines are running today in the park, and then you can put it on your community list if you like. Just remember NOT to say, "How many engines are running?" Actually you can say that, but you won't get to know on which engines are running.
Just wanted to say thank you Traver. We visited Disneyland for the 1st time in December from Scotland and your videos were a massive help in planning our trip, our food (mainly the Gingerbread Mickey) and making the best use of the app and Genie +. I know it may be a very expensive trip for you all but have you ever considered visiting any of the other global Disney Parks to compare them as I would love to see your takes and thoughts on Disneyland Paris in particular. Paris also has this version of Snow White, Casey Jr. and the Storybook Canal boats.
I be in disneyworld in May and was in Disneyland in January- I do like Disneyland better due to sheer amount of rides and different options plus Star Wars land there and is cool
My favorite ride at Disneyland/DCA is Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout! I also love Incredicoaster, but only if I can sit in the front row bc otherwise I get too motion sick haha
This was an awesome video! Oh how I love and miss my Disneyland 😎 it will forever be my fav even tho we enjoy Disney World on site hotels 🏨 more, I grew up in Ca so I am partial to Disneyland ❤ my niece is in the Magic Happens parade so we got to go out there last year to meet with some cousins and enjoy the park and parade together 🙌
DisneyLand Paris has a much better version of the StoryBook Canal and Casey Jr's train, when I went on the DL Cal versions last month I was very disappointed... Little kids will still enjoy it
I love our rides at Disneyland. But there are so many at Disneyworld too. That I haven't even ridden. Like Frozen. I rode the original at Epcot. That's how long its been. Goals.
Hi Traver! I love your videos and tips. Tell me, do you think os better to avoid DCA on grad nights? I mean, it’s better to go to Disneyland on those days?
World is what started my love of Disney. Growing up on the East Coast and later living in Florida during my college years, WDW was all I knew until I came out here for the first time in 2012. We moved here in 2014 and became passholders in 2015.
Roger Rabbit is definitely deceiving! I've made the mistake before of hopping in line thinking it didn't look too bad, not realizing that the cue goes very deep inside the building. It's a little claustrophobic. We only ride it if it works out with LL. Otherwise, it's not worth it for us.
Disney World is awesome but the unique Disneyland rides are really special. Indy and RSR are two of my favorites. Did you forget Guardians btw, I didn’t see it in this video
I included only a few of the DCA rides as there were too many to include individually in this video. The whole park is virtually unique, but Guardians is not one of them as it is a remodel/retrofit of Tower of Terror. A different experience due to the theme change? Sure. But not unique enough that someone very familiar with WDW wouldn’t know what it is. I do have plans to make a video that highlights all the identical rides and what makes them unique at Disneyland, and Guardians would fall into that category.
I don’t think I realized fantasyland closes at night. I’ve heard different things mentioned about DCA and Disneyland land or ride closures during nighttime shows. Is there a way to find all that info in just one spot rather than having to sift through a few different videos here? I think I heard Star Wars land closes early or maybe just Rise, but not sure that it has anything to do with the night shows?? Anyway, just dawned on me that I don’t really know if the website or app shared that anywhere…
This article has a small section on nighttime closures, but it doesn’t include DCA or Rise. Still, might be helpful: www.tripsavvy.com/disneyland-at-night-4173690 Rise closes at different times. Today it closes at 10 PM, but that’s also when the park closes. I’ve seen it close at 9 PM other days, possibly when the park closes at midnight. It’s not related to fireworks and the rest of Galaxy’s Edge is still open.
Here’s a playlist of all my old WDW videos: Walt Disney World, Florida ua-cam.com/play/PL_0Qje8SjlSCiqbBEpHdg6SrRzV--5iCp.html We are headed there again May 16-25, so there will be a few more food reviews and at least 9 day vlogs.
15 minutes average if the standby is 45 minutes. Depends on the cast member though. This last time, I had one who was being overly efficient and was splitting up parties of 4 into a group of 3 and 1 instead of the standard 2 and 2 (leaving room for 2 single riders). Instead she was taking parties of 2 to sit with the lone party member she split off from the group of 4.
My wife and I are going to Disneyland in a week and we're trying to figure out if we can bring a our GoPro and some of that equipment. Can you do a breakdown of what you use to record and what's allowed in the parks? Some stuff online has given us conflicting answers.
GoPros are allowed. Just make sure you have a wrist strap. I use my iPhone to record and it’s allowed on every attraction except Incredicoaster, Silly Symphony Swings, and Goofy’s Sky School. For those rides, I use a GoPro, or at least have in the past. I don’t really ever bother recording them now. I just use old footage if I need to.
Soarin’ is in EPCOT, Little Mermaid is in Magic Kingdom, and Toy Story Midway Mania is in Hollywood Studios (though it’s called just Toy Story Mania there). Those are the exact replicas. There are, however, very similar rides. For instance, Tower of Terror (DHS) and Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Breakout (DCA) are the same ride, but with different themes. Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree (DCA) and Alien Swirling Saucers (DHS) are the same ride with different themes. Grizzly River Run (DCA) and Kali River Rapids (AK) are very similar as well.
Where is guardians Web slingers? Golden Zephyr. Goofy sky school. Mickey’s Ferris wheel of fun. Inside out emotional whirlwind. Silly symphony swings. Grizzly River run. Jessie‘s critter carousel Luigi’s Rocklin Road stirs Maters junkyard jamboree any of the boat rides over the river you missed a lot more than that
I clearly said right before we entered DCA that 15 of the 18 rides were unique to DCA and that we wouldn’t put them all in the video. That at the end of the video I’d link to my DCA ride guide where you can learn all about them. But that I would highlight a few of my favorites.

I’m going flying to California tomorrow and I’ve been watching these videos nonstop ❤❤❤
Would love to see a video like this for universal Orlando and Hollywood
Great video, very helpful - thanks
Thanks, Traver! We'll be there in a few days and I haven't been to DL since 1990. So excited!
Also, thanks for saying what’s “normal” wait times so that we can gauge if the time posted is a GREAT time to hop on!
Thank you Traver! I am a Floridian and love your channel. Love seeing your take on this!

Wasn’t Nemo originally 20,000 leagues?
Yes
I think you should do a video ranking the rides from most kid friendly to least kid friendly. Which rides are too scary for kids?
Great info. Taking my husband for his first time next week!!
Hey I made it to youtube Ma!! 🤭lol
It was an Honor to meet you & your beautiful family on Mr.Toads Wild Ride ☺️!

DCA will be flooded with high schoolers all day on Grad Nites. And the park closes early I believe. So probably better to go to Disneyland. Yes.
Thank you for the video
Thanks for another great video - I love how knowledgeable you are about Disney World too.

Awesome!
It’s known as liberty square riverboat
Love this !! So helpful !
Glad you enjoyed it.
I know u said march 18- April 8 is the most packed it is all year. is it less packed on the weekdays? I’m going on a Tuesday.
Weekdays will always be less crowded than weekends, but it’s still going to be really busy.
8:15 thanks for sharing that. My husband is 6’9” with a bad back and knees. He will definitely skip that ride.
Yeah, I would say pass on Matterhorn for sure.
