Well done in garden, all the hard work will pay off, and so amazing what you achieved in a short time. We researched blue berries and found out they need acidic soil, as some one else commented; hence why they are grown on the peat swamp land round Hamilton. We have put peat moss round our blueberry bushes, to try to drop the pH to be more acid. Strawberries respond well to liquid seaweed fert, as we had friends in Scotland who grew raspberries and strawberries commercially and they always used liquid seaweed fert to feed them. Raised beds are awesome. All the best for spring planting. Regards, Don & Anne.
What awesome feedback Thankyou so much!! I will try the peat moss idea around the blueberries!! Will keep moisture in too. I have loads of seaweed tonic so will give that to the strawberries as well as all our worm wee 😊😀
I think the strawberry shortage was due to the floods earlier this year. All the propagation nurseries were having trouble supplying the strawberry farms let alone us backyard folk. My top tip for blueberries would be using hydrangea blue on them. They love it acid. My bushes are absolutely laden with flowers at the mo.
Ofcourse the flooding!!! Definitely wouldnt have helped. Awesome , a great tip thankyou so much. I will give that a try. I'm determined to get some blueberries this year!!
Such a good feeling getting your garden weeded. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it all next!
The best feeling!!!! Yay me too

I have bush cam footage of rats walking on fence wire...so can definitely climb any mesh. ☹
defo mulch. if/as/when you want to move it stone will be a pain to get back up again.
That's a good point. I think we will do woodchip 😊
Hi just wondering where you buy your wood from for the vege gardens?
We just used decking timber and lined it with plastic
Are you up north or south?
North
@thecurlefarm I thought you might be as I don't think we can grow watermelon down south without using a green house, not sure. Hi from christchurch
