Kulusevski is absolute chef.. or as I like to call him “Kuluchefski”👨🏾🍳. I vividly remember the loud roar spurs fans made for him when he came back from injury 3 seasons ago (during the 2-1 defeat to Liverpool) He got in, and within a minute he already had an assist and could have easy dragged spurs from 2-0 down to basically winning that game. An absolute baller ⛹️
Proud moment for me that one. I was at the Liverpool game you mention and was calling for kulu to come on for ages and saying to everyone around me “as soon as he comes on we will score”… and you know the rest! I received a few high fives and felt like pep guardiola 😂
Ange may get a lot of criticism, but he's willing to be creative and put in the work to make Brennan Johnson, a player with many limitations, consistently effective. Kulu gives thrust by making runs ahead of Johnson from that RAM position, meaning Johnson can come inside and doesn't have to be stuck to the touchline where his poor ball carrying is in focus.
This is why I didn't like Conte. He just complained about not having the right players and forgot that his job was to coach and improve the players he had. Ange absolutely does that and plays them to their strengths. Also Brennan is in great form right now and I think he has a high ceiling. Really looking forward to the player Ange makes him despite some weaker areas currently
Kulusevski has played there before. He even did an interview with football London a couple of seasons ago saying that's his preferred position. I think he was first put on the right wing because we had noone else at the time and he did a decent job there. Now we have Johnson to play the there, it's freed him up to move into that 10 position
I described him as a kind of "target man winger" a while back for us... When we were pinned back in games with Conte we could give him the ball and he could calm the game down, get us up the pitch and wait for support, but he never had the pace or confidence on his weak foot to really kick on as a RW in my opinion. He's always been a number 8 in my mind, because he's got the legs to get up and down, he's big and strong, his pace is good for that part of the pitch, he's technically excellent and he's way more unpredictable with the ball without a touchline limiting his movements. I'm dead smug he's working out as an CM these days 😂
When Deki signed for spurs he said in an interview he modelled his game on KDB. Now he’s finally getting a chance to show his version of that and it’s the closest thing I’ve seen to a free role in a long time.
Also, I remember James making a video about Bissouma this time last year, we tanked after that. Please stop telling other managers about our special sauce.
Playing Kulu as a right winger is asking him to play with his back to the wall. He can't really get behind the touch line. But in the central position, he has a lot more opportunities to be an effective attacking ball carrier and passer.
You should do a video on Morgan Rogers, as a Villa fan I think he's been our most important player for quite some time now and he has kind of a similar role as Kulusevski.
Absolutely beautiful, Jimbo. Kulu is just elite central, reminds me of Dembele, as you cannot shake him off the ball and he can carry it, Kulu is just offensively better than even Dembele, as his attacking instincts are greater.
He’s actually admitted that he’s working a lot harder/ more mature since the birth of his daughter. Whilst the change in position has encouraged his improvement I think his mentality has changed
The only question that needs to be resolved and probably was at half time in this match is can you play Kulo and Madders in the same side? - it’s increasingly looking like you can’t - fortunately we now have loads of other options with Bentancur Sarr Bissouma Grey and Bergvall all able to play a part - atm I would play Bentancur with Sarr as my first choice but it’s very competitive for sure
