I watched Jade Fever from the begining. The last episode of this past season of Jade Fever, Never mentioned you guys coming out. The last season ended with them being shut down only by the ministry of conservation saying they were closing the road because it was in such pour condition and i remember something about being possibly illegal...(could be wrong about the illegal part).

British Columbia isn't allowing any new jade mines to open in the northwest, and has set a five-year wind-down period for existing operations.
A statement from the Ministry of Energy and Mines says officials have been working closely with First Nations to address concerns about the effects of jade mining on sensitive alpine environments in the area near Dease Lake, about 1,750 kilometres northwest of Vancouver.
An order under the Environment and Land Use Act was necessary to protect the area from further harm and disturbance.

I have watched this and a few episodes of Jade Fever on Discovery. I always seem to come away with questions that are not answered by either side. I will assume that the Tahltan people living in that remote area are a small nation. What income sources are available to the Tahltan nation? How does the nation support itself?
Jade City Store supports itself by selling low to Grade A jade to Tourist and recently partnering with Chinese Jade Investors to allow them to financial they Larger scale mining operation. It appears from the show that the employee less than 30 people in their crew. So they are not getting rich off of this. Maybe the Tahltan nation could provide land restoration services to the mining crews. Mined land, even strip mined land can be restored. Just hoping both sides can find a middle ground and work together.

I'm a miner. It was shameful to see the devastation done. Shameful. Any resources mined from your area should be taxed. A royalty goes to the residents of the area. Period. We receive a dividend check every year here in Alaska. Flip side is the bottom line of the local tribe goes up dramatically am I right? So the tribe won't add the jade to it's list of assets? Sure they will. social justice.... did the natives give the other tribe a notice of eviction before they raided and enslaved the women and children while murdering the men? The concern for the land is one thing. The posturing is a different thing. Cool thing is this thing we've built called Ameri.... oops. Canada. Where those with perceived injustices done to them can find a path to rectify some of those wrongs done in a peaceful manner. Were those in the neighboring tribe given the same consideration and opportunity? Rarely. ur high horse isn't.

You’re right natives have been screwed. But they’ve always been screwed. Natives were killed by Rome. Then the franks, the pope all kept changing control. Even Egypt when from having European dna thousands of years ago to now having way more African dna then European. The canaanites, Phoenicians, Gaelic etc all got wiped out or conquered. Gangis khan wiped out a bunch of natives in Asia. But now China controls Mongolia. Natives are screwed everywhere since time began. Even in the US or Mexico look at the Aztecs. They killed like 80,000 people or something to dedicate their one Temple. Mass slavery human sacrifice made it look like the Spanish was pretty mild. Then the Utes in Utah did they care about other natives? They raided and killed other natives and took tens of thousands of slaves selling to other natives and later on to the Spanish.
People don’t like to talk about genocide natives commit to other natives. The Paiutes killed an entire tribe of taller red headed natives in Nevada wiping them out a thousand years ago. You’re supposed to return bodies of natives back to tribes but where do they return an 8 foot red head in Nevada? Natives and academia refuse to talk about previous natives they’ve massacred. A lot of history is suppressed especially today by governments.

These fuckers own most of the gold, silver, copper, nickel, platinum and other precious resource mines in the area. They don't give a shit about damages considering what their mines are doing. This is just a easy payday and resource grab for these fuckers.

Unfortunately looks like the local mob ended the show because they want to add jade to their mining monopoly when they already have copper, gold, silver, nickel, platinum group elements to that group. You can sure bet they don't give a shit about "'environmental damage" that their mines do either. It's all just a quick and easy payday in their eyes since all the jade miners did all the work for them. They just have to collect.

The government gave the miners permits. The Indian nation doesn’t have the right or authority to close down any mine. They have to deal with the government. If I were there. I would have continued mining while they watch
