Was it just me or when i was younger the sets were less expensive and now they're insanely expensive like i was looking at the new star wars sets and the cool ones are like $80 and thats the smaller ones
Back in the elementary school days, when Joshua still lived here in Montana, I swear we bought Lego sets of decent size from Target for like 20$ U.S... Seems like now all you get for that money is a small vehicle and maybe two figures if you're lucky. All of the good sets are at least 35-40$ anymore, if you're lucky.
ikr here in the netherlands just ffs those 2017 x wings like lego wtf i saw better x wings back in the day for way less what happend to lego man i'm a fan of lego since i was 4 years old and i'm 16 now but the point is i don't want lego to die it's one of the few things that keeps me away from depression
With Lego at least in the u.s. it was down to about $0.10 a piece which isn't bad considering the quality compared to other Building Systems like Mega Bloks the sticking power is Lego is the best in the world so $0.10 a piece is actually quite reasonable so if it has a thousand pieces you're going to pay around $100 and in some cases the price Count 2 piece count as a little bit different like I just picked up the creator of mythological beasts and it had 200 and some pieces and I paid like $13 so that was just a really great Steel if you're buying piece to money Star Wars sets are expensive because of Licensing issues to Disney and maybe even George Lucas I'm not sure but you get the idea then you look at Brands like Ninjago and then you have like a stormbringer dragon which was almost 500 pieces but it was $35 I mean that's a good price count two-piece ratio and to be honest there is no good substitute for Lego and that is quite the bottom line and then you get into things like buying a cooling to build a figure with a pieces are actually more expensive to print and make and then you pay a little bit extra I think the Builder figure series is way overpriced because it takes more to actually print those pieces and the license with Star Wars that's why Bionicle I thought was a way better line even though it was canceled due to bad story I guess I don't care about the stories I just by 4 pieces and I've been known to pay up to $40 for a piece that I need and can't find it in any other Lego kit at the time but there's no such thing as a bad Lego piece so and you have to understand that manufacturing costs go up every year and then they probably have Regional issues to and they're the best brick construction company in the world so they have totally stood the test of time and they've about lost their behinds a couple of times Bionicle the original save the company from utter disaster bottom line Legos are amazing till you step on one LOL and the after market value on the is about garbage but someone has to pay for the designers the designers of the booklets that make the models easier to put together I mean there's a lot to it so all in all I think Lego is actually reasonably priced if it's not Star Wars brand or a brand that they are getting the rights for and have to pay a lot for rights recently blizzard and Lego teamed up to release some OverWatch sets and they are actually pretty reasonable sets to so in terms of expense It's usually the Star Wars Legos that are way overpriced and I believe that has to do with a lot of Disney greed and Licensing
There is nothing very special about the bricks quality except that they have a micrometer precision from ABS plastic. Well that is fine, but today even better chinese clones may have the same quality. It should be noted, that Lego is produced today in Hungary,Czech Rep, Mexico and China so the high price surely doesnt come from production labor force or material price. The answer is simple: innovation and design makes 80% of the budget. A clone factory has to copy plans while Lego has to invest into new concepts.
