@@WhatwouldRoddyPiperdo Oh hell yeah, agree 1000%. Case in point, the bass line I'm working on learning right now "Every Kind of People", by Robert Palmer, released 1978, I remember as a young kid, rediscovered last year because of the funky-ass bass lines.

I learned social distortion Story of my life & uploaded it earlier, heart Alone is really fun. my favourite part of the process is what I call "the gimmick". when Im translating tabs to what's being played with the drums then finding out how to do the little connecting piece that makes the part work & pulling it off.
I’ve been listening to this song for almost 40 years, and because of Bryan Adams guitar playing, I never noticed the bass line. Since 1985.
