She’s still going to have her career. Look at Jeffree Star, Justin Bieber, and hell even Donald Trump. They are STILL going to prosper. So she’s not going anywhere...
Because as much as yall want people to be mad at someone for saying some bullshit as children, the rest of the world does not see logic in that. There are real evil people out there, real criminals. You are caught too much in your feelings. Damning a person for something they SAID as a kid is illogical people grow and change. Yall act like they killed somebody lmao
no one cares about the feelings of black people enough to hold her accountable in the first place. Camila is going to release another single and get praised and no one is going to care what she said. no one has yet to ask the question of how her black band mate felt but that's just me.
I mean she made racist jokes about her own race, her own people. I'm not defending what she did but that did happen. I don't think she's a racist, I just think she was stupid, and the fact she didn't even bother to delete that tumblr is dumb
Jourdon Patron those posts were deleted. Someone some how recovered them because they have nothing better to do. Because they were posts from before she was a singer and met the girls and became fifth Harmony on X factor. And fans that followed them from that far seen all their friends from childhood/ school they were in videos and came to meet and greets and she had black friends. So I think they were posted jokes between friends and they were cool with it with just them. And she basically deleted that tumblr page when X factor started because new part of life and fresh start in different environment. I think she apologized now bc some how these people got deleted posts bc years ago people were posting texts saying she was racist with fake texts and her band mates were saying there not real too. And she apologized for that too when she didn’t do anything then. I’m not saying its okay just saying what happened probably and before. Bc I’m mixed so half black and I had other black friends who would let their not black friends say the N word too but just with them
I think everyone who is a part of the community that she was racist towards should make their own individual decision if they would like to forgive her or not. If you choose not to forgive her you have every right not to, that is okay and your feelings are VALID. Just because someone chooses not to "forgive" doesn't mean they're mad. If you choose to forgive her then you can do that too. It's not up to anybody else except for the individual to decide, and don't feel bad if you choose not to forgive her. She is not the victim, the group of people she made racial jokes and said racial slurs about are the victims. Nobody should be telling anyone else, especially if you weren't affected by what she said, how they should or shouldn't feel. That being said, cancel culture isn't real, at least for Non Black people. Not one SINGLE coin is taken out of their account. It needs to be changed to Accountability Culture.
I hate when people say “we were all problematic when we were young”. No, not “ALL” of us were problematic. People think being problematic and being ignorant is the same thing but they’re not. We were all ignorant because we come into life that way but not all of us carried hatred or maliciousness to others as if that was a phase or a part of growing up.
Nas exactly!! I’m so tired of that narrative. I grew up in a family that had a lot of ignorant mindsets and what did I do? I had my own brain and didn’t pick up those unhealthy behaviors and mindsets. We are all not the same
It's a long one if you have time good if not keep scrolling. Just to set this straight racism is 101% unacceptable there's no saying or excuses about it...buuut people need to realise what racism actually is! Racism is thinking that one race is better than another ,racism it thinking that you and your rights should categorised by the shade of your skin colour! Don't confuse racism with prejudice and illiteracy! Camila fucked up, true, people who felt offended have every right to be angry and not forgive her. Personally , i repeat, personally, after seeing her linked postes all I saw was a 14 year old kid in 2011-2012(I'm saying this because internet in 2012 and internet now in 2020 have a huge difference that nowadays kids will never understand) who did exactly what other people in middle school did back then, it was the beginning of the flourishing of social media, everyone were posting and reposting whatever they saw and they didn't even consider about other people's feeling because it wasn't referenced to anyone in particular it was general statements that they though "funny" . From what I saw camila never encroached the matter of black people's rights as humans or lower them. But she reposted some fotos that screamed prejudice such as that black people eat chicken, watermelon and stuff like that, also she said the n word ,yes, bad, but she never used the word as an insult she said " why is everyone hating on obama # myni**a " and other stuff she used the word as equal to "dude" something that a lot of people do in middle school without understanding the impact that it has on black people (illiteracy) which of course it's bad but I don't think you should label someone as a racist from saying the n word, what makes the n word an insult to black people is the intention behind it and how people use it to low them, but I don't see it in that case. Yeah at the age of 14 15 most people know the background of the n word but some don't and people need to understand that, yes ,you knew it ,good for you, but not everyone grew in the same milieu as you, Camila is and Cuban Mexican immigrant that came in USA at the age of 6 without her or her parents knowing anything in english she learned speaking English by wachting cartoons and hearing her surroundings, back then the n word was flying around like a bird among the people either black and white and could easily be formed as a part of someone's vocabulary . I don't know when she realized the weight of the word but Camila apologised for the first time in 2013 and never ever has she caused any problems or insulted anyone she has been nothing but supportive but it seems like the past hunts her since people dig so deep to bring her past mistakes back, which honestly beside all this drama I think it's good because bringing past mistakes back helps you realize your growth and keeps you in touch with your who you were, who you are , and who you want to be, and for me I think that camila is one of the most unproblematic people in the music industry ,my opinion of course not a statement.
@@darkmatter21_90 You could say the same about Soulja Boy for his time. 1 very, very good song. Then he sort faded after a few more. The dance is a classic but HIM is eh. This is Camila's time, but it is up to her how long she lasts. Plenty of 1 or at least 5 hit wonders. To each their own. *shrug*
@@darkmatter21_90 It is not as if she has not done a lot to make up for this mistake, before and after. But it was still a petty and GRAVE mistake. And her apology and excuses did not make it better. "I said that when I was 15," um, then you should know better, esp. being around black people and media period. And racism is grave, even a slip like this, because how are you accidently racist? Because you were mad? That is a terrible habit then. And people rightly get really steamed up over things like this. Esp. the community that was effected. What about the fans of hers that were affected? Young, and impressionable. She is catering to that audience. And we know kids can be stupid.
Nikki SoVain Just because this person knows where Camila’s song is on the charts, that makes them weird? I’m not a Roddy Rich fan but I know his song The Box been #1 for the past few weeks. That makes me a weird stan? Lmaoooo you took time out your day to comment something negative and you look like you’re in your early 30’s. You should know better by now. Plus Zach himself be quoting where his favs lay on the charts, does that make him weird?😂
I don't like when people say "She apologized. What more do you want from her?" Or when we say the apology wasn't genuine, they don't seem to understand why that is so. The problem with Camila's apology is it was dismissive. Imagine you've been dating someone for seven years. Imagine learning they cheated on you during the first year; and when you ask them about it, they send you a text saying they did things they weren't proud of and have grown since then. Wouldn't that "apology" be upsetting? Wouldn't you rather have a face to face conversation so you could judge body language and sincerity? That's what people need from Camila. They want to see her remorse, not read about it.
Let's not forget the Normani situation.. I know people are going to try to use the excuse of the "past is the past".. but when the signs and mistakea are recurring, what are we supposed to think?? Sis is not genuine and is probably an undercover racist or just don't have the balls to stand up to injustice unless it will make her look better🤷♀️
Jimine Cricket that’s true and with the Normani thing Camila didn’t even defend her even tho it was HER fans making racist memes towards Normani. that’s one of the biggest reasons I can’t stand this girl.
@@kaaygoldmine hateful, terrible memes.. they weren't simple one's like "she likes chicken" but actual lynching memes.. so I really don't get why the question of forgiving her is even a question.. her apology isn't genuine.. period.. and it's sad, because I knew nothing about what Normani went through, until Camilla being exposed.. just shows that black women really are the most disrespected and uncared for in this wack ass country
See, the thing is... I don't hate Camilla. I just don't like her. Thats the tea. Let them have her. The problem is a lot of black people is always expectant to always forgive rather than holding these people accountable hence why they dont respect us but when their pockets starts to dry up, honey, thats when the problem starts. 🤷 she's still gonna be popular but she won't get anything from ME.
Good. She doesn’t need y’all who never liked her from the start. She managed to be a star without y’all. She’s good. Anyways i like you who is honest unlike this unknown vlogger who was a fan before and then became a hater when Camila left the group and then a fan again when Camila became a star and 5H flopped, and then now hating again lmao! like he’s just going with the trend 😓 personality: not found
@@woopshtbetta with all due respect, I never liked her because of two reasons: 1) I still don't think she can sing 🤷 and 2) something is really off about her. If a child can see THAT about her, imagine if adults knew about her too. But who knows? We live in a society where a person can be openly racist, and people wint care about it because they relate to it as well. 🤦🤷
Em nobody appologised. That biased black Man in the video still loves JB, who was caught like a 1mln times, and he said things that are literally worse. A lot of Black people are racists and noone is talking about it, huh, really?
She grew up in Miami, with black, white , latinas friends. She reposted a couple of memes with the n words, so what? She reposted also about Mexicans (which she is one) and about white people. That was part of their jokes when they were kids. She’s 23 now and she done so much for the black community, black lives matter, and always hyped black artists and praised them. Because someone made a mistake when they were a kid doesn’t mean they can’t change for the better. Because she was insensitive when she was 14/15 means we need to hold it on her forever? No. People learn and grow. She’s not a racist. She reposted insensitive posts when she was younger and apologized a few times. Let people learn from their mistakes instead of hating them forever
Sup bitch ASS your reposting this long ass irrelevant ass comment everywhere baby give it UP. she’s trash. because she said slurs about everybody makes it okay? fuck out of here.
no, let’s stop “forgiving” racists who should know better. clearly she won’t be cancelled because of her fans but she doesn’t deserve forgiveness when she’s not even sorry.. anyway, love ya ✨💕
She IS sorry. But there's no other way to let people know than to apologize which she has done several times. She's also done some things for the black community. There's literally no other way to let people know how sorry she is than to move on with her life. What she did WAS wrong. So wrong but let's please give people a chance to grow and change. There's enough hate in the world already. I hope you understand. All love tho :)
As a teenager you know right from wrong I’m sry. Now with homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, etc i can sadly understand but bby with racism??? No. Absolutely not.
Don’t Care Tbh she had black friends in school. These posts were before her being a singer . I think they were posts between friends bc that account was not a thing when she started with 5H . They were deleted and some how got recovered. I’m half black but when I was in school a lot of black friends and classmates I knew would let their non black friends say those things as jokes with them too or say the N word also but just with them bc they were friends. So maybe it was like that
There's a big difference between being genuinely apologetic and being apologetic because you got caught/called out. I believe Camila is only apologetic because she got called out. As far as that stuff from her past being dug up... all I can say is what's done in the dark will eventually come to the light.

Here’s my main thing. I know she did this when she was younger and she maybe didn’t grow up in a place where they taught her better BUT she hasn’t showed in any way that she’s passed that. She hasn’t proved that she knows better now. I think the problem is that we’ve seen a pattern of her being insensitive to black issues. She couldn’t even defend her own band mate against horrible racism in her fan base.
how else do you want her to show that she has moved passed it? like her work with black lives matter and the fact that she literally employs people of every single race. i don't think it's fair to still judge a 22 year old woman based off of statements and decisions she made when she was a literal child.
Forgiving someone and supporting someone are two different things. You can forgive her, and still not support her music. She doesn’t need to sell a million records to “grow”. But most importantly, not all black people give permission to their non-black friends to use the N word. I think black people (not all) who attended mixed schools felt pressured (to fit in), and allowed non blacks to disrespect them, and it’s sad. You have to look at yourself and decide why you allow people to disrespect you, even as an adult. There’s no way I’ll be at “game night” with “friends” who toss the N word around. Those aren’t your friends, but I guess you still need them, and you need to figure out why. Now of course I’ve come across people in my adult life (college & work), who get comfortable.....and then they get cut off. I don’t curse people out anymore. If you’re not black, and you use the N word, you have zero substance, and you get zero energy.
Kia Cokely yeah I went to an all white affluent school and I remember someone tried to use the N word on me (in France since I am French) and I was about to knock em upside the head! If you ain’t black, you can’t use it.

But she wasn't say racist stuff in a cool way, she was saying them in a hateful tone with er..Saying we eat chicken and watermelon..It was just extremely nasty
For me personally, I wouldn’t forgive her because when I joined the 5h fandom people been pointing out her racist social media accounts when it happened give or take a year or two. The only difference was that it didn’t get much traction as it did now. The fact that it took her several years to issue an apology just seems fake. Like fans been telling you to apologize but you only do it when your album is flopping and the one time she does mention it in a interview she makes it seem that people expect her to be a “perfect pop star”. That’s just false we expect you to apologize when you fuck up like all our parents taught us to do when we were kids. You only let someone get so many chances before you write them off. P.S: Sorry for any errors.
Camila is a very talented superstar ....... known and loved all over the world ...... anyone who thinks that she cares what some nobody like Zach Campbell thinks about her should seek medical help ....... this guys obsession with Camila is creepy and sad.
elijah sessom With respect no one said Camilla cares about Zach’s opinion but he was a fan until he found out about her racist past so to say that he is “obsessed” with her now that his opinion of her has changed some Camilla fans/stans want to be mad about it. He like any other black person be they are a fan or not can feel some type of way about it because it was Black/Asian people she made stereotypical racist post about.
Meh, her music isn’t special enough for me to care about her. I'm even gonna go as far as to say it's pretty underwhelming. I can easily get this type of music from someone else. They are tons of artists with non problematic past i can go listen to.
@zackattack9772 interviews, their music, their social medias, and who they're friends with is usually a big show of character. Of course, you can never know everyone personally but people usually show their true selves in one way or another.
EXACTLY!!! Now when Sabrina Claudio’s racist past got dug up, that shit was difficult for me cuz I really loved her music, but oh well. Camila on the other hand... she was already my least favorite member of 5H so this was easy for me.
Before I watch this...NO! We as blac people have been TOO forgiving and that’s exactly why we are where we are as a people! We have to start keeping that same energy! I for one am TIRED! I just don’t have it in me anymore to turn the blind eye and wish for change from someone I KNOW doesn’t want to change, JUST because she’s talented!! 🤷🏽♀️
Thank you.. talking about we angry cause we all don't want to accept her basic apology.. nah.. it's us not accepting the bs anymore.. finding out someone said the N word.. I can let it slide.. but this girl was full on RACIST just a few years ago.. no.. idc how she grew up, where she grew up, who raised her, I will no longer support her.. period....
My thing with cancel culture is that every company and every celebrity has something "problematic" with all of them. If you decide to cancel someone, or whatever, for something you need to keep the same energy for all of the other people/companies that do the same thing or have the same dirt attached to them. A lot of people, *most of the time,* only hop on what's trending. 🤷🏿♀️
I love how you say you dont fuel the hate train with white camilla when you were all for fuelling it with black onika and Remy and even fuelled the fire between nicki and cardi. Not being shady just pointing out the double standard.
Brandon Francis ooooh yes I don’t understand why he would even post this video just to start another movement to bring negative press something shouldn’t be posted for Like and UA-cam money imagine what all this is doing to her when you was just bumping her music we have to do better
@Kadeja Mccutchin lol the point is, he be all soft and sweet and tiptoeing around the white woman but with black and coloured women like the three mentioned, he being messy af. Nah be messy with her too
Here's the thing. It's important to understand people's perspective. Just like Camila, many people don't have people around them to educate them on why certain things aren't okay. And it doesn't excuse her actions, but internet culture back in 2012 when she said those things was SO different. Nowadays, we, as a society, are much more aware of what is right and more aware of not saying things that are ignorant and/or hurtful. If we look at Camila's behavior in the last 7 years since saying those ignorant things, we can see that she has learned and grown, has advocated for BLM, and hasn't been the same person she was in 2012. We can't keep "cancelling" people when their nearly 10 year old comments are dug up, it isn't progressive. Call her out, sure, but also understand that she has done better since then. Let people have room to grow and improve instead of constantly kicking them when they're down and reminding them of their past ignorance.
While I agree generally w/ most of this, you can’t tell those within an offended community that is continuously degraded by all cultures on whether they should or shouldn’t bring up the racist action exhibited by the person in question. People aren’t obligated to forget. I’ve forgiven her for the most part as her actions since and her addressing the controversy in an interviews seems to reflect someone of an entirely different mind but I still will not forget nor not bring it up when I feel called to bc I make sure to also mention how she’s seemingly grown but won’t forget how nasty it was to have left her “friend” out to dry the way she did Normani. The anti Blackness in non Blk Hispanic communities in Miami definitely touched her, and I say that as an Afro Latina from Miami who is aware of the pervasive anti Blackness in many nonBlk Latinos. People can forgive but not forget. People can also refuse to forgive. It’s their choice and trauma that the racist in question / person w racist tendencies triggered within them.
She was in Fifth Harmony already when she was saying some of these things, there are interviews where she insinuates to saying the word and Normani looks uncomfortable. She was in the environment to know
The thing about Camila Cabello was the deeply disturbing nature of her posts and re-posts. In 2012, we had Michelle Obama as the First Lady of the USA. Racism, in that way and that level, is not acceptable from anyone. The world deserves a real apology from Cabello - a video, a song, something heartfelt. The posts were too deeply disturbing to allow for them to be ignored. Cabello is allowed to make mistakes, but the world deserves an apology. And yes, the world, because when you’re targeting one group of people, you’re hurting all of us and our entire society. For all of the young African American boys and girls who have been targeted to all degrees for centuries in our nation, and for how the hurts all of us, we need to not accept these disturbing thoughts. We all love and appreciate Cabello; she’s a good person with a good heart; it is why she should explain to her fans that behavior like that is not acceptable at any age. It may have dangerous consequences.
brooo... it's not that deep. Dave Chapelle makes more offensive jokes about other races in every stand up & he's hilarious.... A 14 year old girl reposting crude jokes 9 years ago isn't gonna kill you...
My thing is racism is something people are active in. She’s not active, it’s clear she doesn’t do that anymore. People change. Does it make what she did alright no, but it was pure ignorance what she was doing. Judging someone on things from the past, to who they are now is toxic af. And sending death threats is stupid to when she’s been a major influence for good too.
if it was another member of fifth harmony say like lauren for example, the camila stans would’ve canceled that girl in a heartbeat. the fact that they brought up justin too like oh so you have the right to be offended by what he said but completely ignore that your fav had a whole racist tumblr and made unnecessary comments about her members.. sis had a big ego and had her solo career handed to her and that’s it.
I always see threatened Ariana stans try their best to bring Camila down. Go away lady. Ariana posted a "white girls with braids ended racism" joke. Let's cancel her too...
pinkiconic literally all of the 5H girls have problematic pasts. It may not all be racism (some are tho) but it’s all problematic. Camilas just got the most publicity and was made worse when she nor her team handled it well. Also Ariana has had so many scandals that if we’re going by your standards she should’ve been canceled years ago so...
There are videos of normani mocking Asian women and no one brings it up lol. Saying that the reaction would’ve been worse had it been the other girls is actually false.
It’s hard to forgive ppl who don’t ask for forgiveness. Saying when I was young I didn’t know any better is not an apology. I think black artist should avoid making any songs with her. The black ppl not supporting her or listening to her music is how we should react. I haven’t seen anyone demonstrate hate toward her. Unlike the lynch pictures of Normani.
I'm a white girl from Australia who's just about to turn 28 and knew about racism when I was very young and I also grew up with the internet and also knowing that stuff too. I got MySpace when I was 15(2007) Camila is younger & grew up in the internet age especially as a teen she would of known something even if she didn't get "taught" that in her life from family, friends, school etc I've been a 5H fan since X factor and I knew about these posts for years & I hated that it wasn't addressed or talked about sooner. Normani got so much shit from Camila fans. Like how would you feel working with someone who had racist reposts about your race & never addressed it or never even ask fans to stop saying those things to you. Would of hated it & been so upset & angry. She only apologised because it started going viral more& it's now sadly just gone & disappeared like nothing happened.
Lady, just because you had a unproblematic childhood, doesn't mean all minors are unproblematic. Kids make mistakes all the time... and let's not act like Normani stans haven't been bullying Camila nonstop for the past 6 years. Where's your outcry for that?
Exactly. Im black but I have a past with homophobia and transphobia because I grew up as a Jehovahs Witness. I am sincere and will tell anyone my mistakes at 15 and even after I left the cult. But Camilla never addressed it or made it a lesson for her fans of growth and getting informed. When she knew damn well the information was out there and that her own fans were taking ques from her to act that way towards Normani. I could forgive if she had brought it up out the blue instead of only saying something because she was exposed. So her being 15 is forgiveable to me. Her being insincere, is not forgiveable. Because she still is. Some of her fans, many of the racist ones are even in this comment section.
@@jonesbanx4918 They have been on Camila because they knew about the racist post for years. And she acted like they werent there, even when her fans were being racist to Normani. So no ones going to cry out on behalf of someone who is a racist. I will give you this. Some fans may not like Camila because of their allegence to Normani. But some of us actually liked the girl or saw potential until we learned of her fakeness and past.
I'm from Detroit, I can definitely understand what Zach is saying about the separation of races between the city vs. suburbs. Going to MSU was definitely a culture shock for me.
I feel that the way the whole situation was handled on her part was very damage control and not sincere. It was like say sorry disappear for a couple weeks and come back and promote. Nothing about that feels like she learned anything.
Cause these post were before her being singer and adult she apologized for it since back then. And some people bring em back every year Anyway she has shown her support for blm and blk ppl in general. Not tryna change your mind. Just clearing up some things.
I honestly cant look at her the same anymore.. and the lack of apology really or anything but a little ig story to address it... wow. Didnt seem like she even tried to express her regrets or anything 🙄
coldflames18 Stop saying “haters.” They aren’t hating, they are criticizing a woman for the racist things she said and reposted. We aren’t hating on Camila, we are upset because of what she said.
It's funny that Camila as a female, she did some things but she apologized and you guys still want to cancel her. But Justin as a male did the same thing even worse. And you guys keep praise his name like he never did something bad. It just not fair, if you still want to cancel then cancel them both. But if you want to accept their apologize then accept it from both of them.
Regardless of her actions, she's still gonna have a career. Doesn't mean she deserves forgiveness. In the words of Rihanna: "Don't tell me you're sorry, 'cause you're not. Baby, when I know you're only sorry you got caught."
I completely understand your argument I just don’t agree when people say, “well “I didn’t do it at that age.” People are different and have to learn things at different ages. She should definitely be held accountable though absolutely. She could have said something in defense of Normani and didn’t.
If her response to the situation showed more remorse, if she had actually apologized, cause i do NOT consider that 5 sentence insta story an apology, then I would more readily forgive her. But her response was half assed she definitely does not care about this past the fact she got caught.
She had already apologized for these post years ago, that's why she wasn't going on details or making it a big thing probably cause she regrets and wants to forget about the whole ordeal
No ,and I said what I said. This is repeat racist behavior and as a Poc woman who’s an immigrant she should know better- but she doesn’t so she can choke and that’s that on that💅🏾🤷🏾♀️
I mean if you want to for me it's extremely telling for me when someone has an overwhelming racist fanbase like what about you is so appealing to racist and ppl like that is not for me

Virgo Prinze well if you don’t, then it’s not really her problem anymore, is it? She’ll still go on with her life and we’ll be here behind the internet. So who’s really winning in the end? No one, cause we’ll all die anyway.
@@Azangel27 you just made me change my mind. I will argue. 1. No shit Olivia Benson. Obviously shes not white. But her MENTALITY is very kkk. And her kkklans are serving me all types of dusty white cloth in the motherfucking face. If your fans can attack your bandmember with racist trolling that says something about you. Especially if you already have a racist past. 2. If you wanna sit here and troll and disect comments and focus on the tiny shit instead of looking at the big picture, do you. I'll forgive once normani forgives. Because she's the one that she really needs to apologize too. But at the end of the day she'll never get my support. Just a basic Betty in my eyes. Thank you for your services.
@@justmarlen yes but they are good with each other, same with Lauren and I also Camila showed support to the black community since many years and may times, she has grown a lot as a person and I hope she could show that soon. Love all the girls from 5H, they are just amazing and I'm sure that Camila is really sorry for this situation.
TiaMainstreamVintage who? bc i haven’t seen or no one said that the rest of the girls said something and i’m not tryna be rude i just genuinely wanna understand
I love the positive outlook on this situation and I am not for cancel culture but she is in the part of this generation that had /has full access to learn what you don't know. We (myself and Todrick) were in the age of dial up! 😂 She consistently made racist remarks and Miss Normani said she was on the other end of some of the racism, so Camila made A CHOICE!!!! She's only apologizing because she was caught!
She has bettered herself and after she made those racist posts on that old tumblr, and moved to her new one, she posted/reblogged several pro black statements, advocated for black lives matter, and has donated to homeless black youth. I feel like she should be allowed the opportunity to continue to better herself and should be forgiven if her actions are authentic and she proves that she truly is sorry. If anything recent comes out then her deserves to be cancelled 🗑 Also, to clear up a tiny miscommunication: the screenshots of Camila calling Normani has been proven fake multiple times. The people who made them have been exposed. Receipts in this thread: twitter.com/stuckonkarla/status/1163496677363408897?s=20
Ryan McKenzie I just can’t imagine a black person sticking up for her. And Camila posting tweets about equality and injustice is not helping anyone in real life. Black people don’t need visibility and caring comments, we need restitution and respect
Or Jennifer Lopez who said in a fucking song "I tell the n word mind their business" she said it so comfortably never edited it or apologized for using it!
there was this one comment i saw about “people can make their own individual decision to forgive her” and i completely agree. If you want to forgive her or not that’s your decision.
as a brown girl, I don't think she deserves any forgiveness until she does what you said and gets on camera to publically apologize from her own mouth 🤷🏽♀️ but even then, I personally can't forgive her
To all Camila haters: She doesn't give a damn if you forgive her or not. Live on. Haters gonna hate regardless what she do because you're a hater and a bitter. What else? Hahaha
Honestly, when I was fifteen I said countless stupid things I said “Negro” accidentally and didn’t even know it was a bad thing until my friends corrected me. Like until I was corrected I didn’t know, I blame her surroundings.
@@melanatedforever Because it is the truth you're saying "yawn"? Grow up mam, stop being ignorant. Not everyone grew up in a house hold with that mentality.
Well, that was word hasn’t been in common use in decades, so we can forgive your ignorance. The n-word is still used as a slur to this day. And she reblogged posts in which black people and blackness were the butt of the joke.
She’s amazing as in a group with two ethnic females. I’m positive she didn’t say it around them and if she did, they would’ve corrected her. Racism isn’t new she said those things behind their back AND the term is derogatory in every way. So the not knowing better bullshit ain’t gonna work. She’s better off saying she didn’t care then vs now
As a Latino who grew up in a predominantly black family (I'm mixed with mostly "black features"), in the latinx community at that time (when I was 15, I was born in 97 same as miss Cabello) it was okay to use certain words and make jokes about race stereotypes because our culture is filled with systemic racism, at 15 we just thought that's harmless joking and okay, and the way Camila used the N word if you actually looked at the posts were not in a degradatory way, it was more like she thought she could call her friends the N word the same way black people do (which she couldn't being a white-ish/non-black Latina), and the jokes were not necessarily hateful, they were based on stereotypes and it was considered ""okay"" in that time because the racist culture allowed it... At 14-15 that sh*t was cool and okay and these kids didn't even know they were being racist asf. They thought it was some kinda joke and that's it, an "edgy joke" at best. In the latinx community even black/mixed latinos would joke and let people joke about it... And it wasn't okay but most of these kids didn't even know how harmful they were being because it was ""acceptable"", I don't think she consciously thought "I HATE BLACK PEOPLE AND IMMA POST THIS STEREOTIPICAL SHIT TO BE RACIST", I think she was reproducing racism as someone who didn't grow up around a political environment. Being racist (hating a race because of their race, and thinking they're inferior) and reproducing racism naturally as a kid (things that were racist but were acceptable by the culture) are different things... And as I saw Camila's posts I saw a lot of jokes and things kids would say and today most of them are very politically aware and regret that (saying from experience!). So I think her racism was more of a unaware teen thing than a hateful act. I don't think her friend (Juno something) would stand up for her if she hadn't changed her ways and educated herself behind closed doors, considering how close they are and how vocal about race and politics she is. I don't know Camila but I don't think these posts from 7-8 years ago are enough to label her The Racist, as many are doing. Edit: I should also add that it's not reason to unstan her, but it IS a reason to keep our eyes open and pay attention to her behavior in the future. And please PLEASE don't fall for fake screenshots, if you're gonna believe in receipts, believe in those which are proven only (like the Tumblr posts)
Literally why? Normani said in an interview her and Camila is fine + the reunite last year or 2018. The screenshot that circulating on Twitter is proven fake and the one who made it apologized. She has a problematic past and she apologized changed didn't do it again and supports BLM. Not saying other community should forgive her but honestly in stan Twitter they are literally just using it to drag her
The stuff y’all talked about in this video. I love it. Yes she is human. It was unfortunate for her to say but like you said give her room to grow. She was young. I know people who say that word and they are fucking younger then 15. They barley teach about culture these days and it’s sad. She could’ve been uneducated you never know okay?? But yeah I love her so much and I believe she grew. Plus I think her and Normani are good because they were close friends and they reunited so yeah. That’s what I think. Have a good day.
I didn’t listen to her in the first place lmao so I can’t cancel somebody I never supported. That same mentality is probably why there may not be a huge difference in her sales
Camila had two tumblrs being racist and she has FB messages and text messages where she said racist things about Normani. She was racist online for years and dedicated social media pages to being racist. I don't really like Justin either, but I can see why people forgave him over her.
Uh sis? Camila's shit just happened it's fresh we already dealt with Bieber's drama when it popped up back in the Purpose era. That was years ago. You're very late, and he STILL gets hassled over it all the time, just like he is now, with you bringing it up when Camila is the subject right now
I will say as a women of color who grew up in a predominantly white neighborhood, I didn't know about color or racism until I moved into the inner city of Providence, RI. Very Small state [38 miles, that's it] And poor minded people in the city did not receive me well, because of my activities and dialect as an 8 year old black girl, with a good upbringing. I felt poor minded groups of people being racist towards me and judging my activities. I roller skated instead of jump roping. I played with hampsters instead of STEALING from corner stores and going into a new community that only had the opposite of my upbringing made me experience culture shock. After settling in I began to join what was welcomed and hid my true identity. Ignorance is bliss I tell you. But later (18 years later) I grew into my own community of people who accept me and I accept myself first. I've experienced "racism" in a very complex way, and I am Prejudice towards ignorant people, but I would only be able to have empathy if she was an 8 year old girl without knowledge shooting out those derogatory statements. My perspective.
The “environment” of that social media time IS NOT a justification for her actions. Wow...disappointed is an understatement. The hypocrisy in this video is just...wow.
if she actually stood up and genuinely apologized then yes. but what disgusted me is she put out that whack statement on her STORY where she didn't even recognize her problem, and then went on to post christmas photos a couple later like nothing happened. don't get me wrong she still has bops, but I can't in good conscience support her after that. i was extremely disappointed in how she handled that. next.
I think her parents were racists (or are). She learned that at home. I believe her when she says she changed because she was young when she left home and started being around people from all cultures and races. Black people make terrible Asian, white, European jokes all the time. The difference between Camilla and most kids is she became famous and every word she said comes back to haunt her. The cancel culture might make someone with racist parents that isn't racist become racist because of the backlash that wont be proportioned to what she said on the internet. What she said was not OK but what people are doing to her is '1000000 times worse. I see people from the Beyhive call Selena "1 kidney". What you think about that? Imagine one of her fans becomes famous and some Hispanic folk pulls that old tweet and cancels that black upcoming artist because once upon a time he/she did a horrible joke about Selena's transplant?
The conversations around cancel culture are always so strange to me cause anytime someone gets criticized they call it canceling. Also it’s not an internet thing to dig up things from celebrities pasts and have them answer for it in the present. It’s how they handle it in the present that decides people’s minds for if they want to support them so it being in the past doesn’t matter. Plus there’s more than what she said, it’s also when Normani was racially cyber bullied by Camila’s fans, she barely said anything to them, so it’s more than just jokes it’s deep racism. Forgive her if you want but it being in the past is a dumb reason to
Alex Mackey YT I love her too but I’m getting tired of waiting fr her music to come I think we have enough of the collabs for now we just want music from her alone
How often would you say an artist should release a track though? Cause i think she's using the colabs to still be around whilst she perfects her solo stuff
And black people are also taught to forgive... People continuously tear us down and we're supposed to understand and let it go.. someone choosing not to forgive her is not them being angry... Cause at the end of the day, sis is gonna make her coins, and our feelings and input doesn't matter either way🤷♀️.. choosing not to forgive her is choosing not to continue to fall for the same ass excuses we hear everyday..
I like how you were done with her and here you are dedicating a whole video to her.... she will be fine. I think you mentioned this before, but i feel she will be unaffected because the people that are turning against her weren’t really her demographic to begin with.
She’s a hispanic who grew up in Miami. Unless you live there, you don’t know how it is. Everyone says the N-word and racially insensitive jokes are common. In Puerto Rico where I am from EVERYONE says the N-word, even the whites. I’m not saying its okay, obviously its not, but what i’m saying is she’s clearly changed. She’s proved it many times. Her song living proof samples African kids singing and she supported blm many times publicly. She has changed and has proved it, that doesn’t change what she did of course and I can’t forgive her cause i’m not black but from an outside perspective she has changed and I understand why she might have said what she did because she was raised in Miami and that’s how Miami latinos are. All I ask is that everyone who was affected by this please look into what she has done in the future and why she has changed and after all that you decide if you forgive her or not. Stop cancel culture and don’t believe everything on twitter, do your research and choose if u forgive her or not.
KalenDGM exactly!! Thank you for saying this I wanted to but didn’t know how to word it. Not saying it’s right what she did or said either, but I was also born and raised in Miami and come from a Cuban family...I’m not saying we all like this but I’m gonna be honest when I say I was raised with racism in my house. But I NEVER agreed with it and I was also raised to treat others the way you would want to be treated and respect but I can see how it’s easy for some people in that constant lifestyle would stay stuck in it. Again it’s NOT right and she old enough to know better and become better and doesn’t mean she ever had hate in her heart but it’s just a horrible cycle and I don’t think she’s truly racist.
Crista W agree, i know she’s not truly a racist. I have made my fair share of offensive remarks, i remember in 8th grade in puerto rico we would make jokes about asians and jews, was this right? No. But over the years I have learned that and it was a horrible cycle that I had to escape and learn to better myself from. It doesn’t excuse my actions but i have grown and shown my growth just like Camila has. I just ask those affected by her actions to research on what she does and see that she actually has changed and is helping minorities in every way she can. That’s all I ask.
"we were aaaall problematic" .. you right... But I was problematic towards myself... I don't go out spewing racist/homophobic shit.. I was problematic in the sense that I thought dudes like Edward Cullen (the obsessive controlling type.. the type that's in ANY Y/A book) were good boyfriend/husband material.. but never did my problematic behavior cross the line to bashing on someone different for me.. I get that some kids have the worst parents as people to learn from.. but I will never be able to understand how some can think the things they've said and done as something that can be brushed off, simply because they were young.. but I mean, forgive or don't forgive.. it's not that big of a deal.. we don't have to associate with this female in real life🤷♀️
Kind of annoying hearing people say "Well when I was 14 I was aware.." we're not alike, people are different, some mature when they're 13 and others mature when they're 17 and even over 20, she was a kid, even if she knew it was wrong, she was a kid, I did lots of things when I was younger knowing they were wrong, either words or actions but I didn't care because I wasn't mature enough, she apologized more than once, what more do you want? You shouldn't forgive someone who isn't apologetic and keeps on doing the same mistake, before anyone comes at me for "not looking black" I'm Egyptian, aka African.
Remember when people forgave & more so came to the defence of Kevin Hart when he was caught out for being extremely homophobic & we even have audio. He apologised when he was caught out. His career went on fine. People even rallied when it was brought up again as the skeletons were dug up. They came to his defence. Stating he shouldn't need to apologise again yet she has to apparently. Also pulling the race card to advocate for him back then. Poor him. He even did a specific interview & came across so sincere etc. Lies. He manipulated that whole thing. His career has only skyrocketed since then & most people don't think of it let alone remember it or have it affect their actions. I'm lesbian & I watched Jumanji & even one of his ice tub things this week. Forgot what the show is called. However, I don't boycott because he's a part of something or don't give him credit for a job well done. Also let's put this into perspective. If we look at him & her. That was a young teenage girl. He was a grown man who had kids of his own. Says enough. Don't try and pull anything. We either cut it down the middle or we look at who is worse. I'd say the very aware grown man. He didn't even give a crap about cheating on his pregnant wife then outed himself in what he thought was a funny video because he didn't want to be extorted. So very low morals indeed. Yet you're a fan or give him a pass. Please check yourself before you check others.
I think what she did was bad enough that we should take her at face value. She harbors anti-blackness. And she is dating someone who has a similar problem. And they both acted like it wasn’t it big deal. She should be cancelled in my opinion. Is she talented? Yes. But that’s not the point.
I looked up the the N word in dictionary so i have an idea of what it is. So “Nigga originated as a variant of the infamous racial slur nigger, reflecting one of its pronunciations, and for many people it is an equally offensive word. Since the late 20th century, however, the two forms have been diverging in use among some African Americans, with nigga becoming the preferred term for neutral and positive self-referential uses, such as those associated with the world of hip-hop. Those uses are themselves controversial, and despite their prevalence in hip-hop, a music and culture whose millions of fans span all races and ethnicities, the use of nigga by a person who is not black-in any context-is considered highly offensive.” It’s highly offensive, i understand she apologized for using such insensitive and offensive language. why should she be cancelled as an artist? I don’t get it. One mistake will cause her life? And why would someone will dug up something negative from the past? Why now? When she is successful? Why one mistake should be the basis of her whole personality? And why would this be tagged as another “excuse”? Maturity and awareness is something we learn over time. And im not being insensitive or making excuses. This issue was dug up in the past and she addressed and apologized for what she did. And as far as im aware she’s doing what she can using her platform to a positive side and spreading awareness. What’s wrong with forgiving one mistake?
That’s crazy. Over here in southeastern CT, there’s many different races and ethnicities. Chinese, American black, American white, Hispanic, Russian, polish, Japanese, Jewish, Haitian, Native American. I went to school with all types of people. And you know what, it’s a low crime rate part of the country too. Shows you with decent to great neighborhoods, education, etc etc, when there’s no economic barrier, no hoods, how everyone can prosper.
Yall keep in mind she was 15 when she made those racist remarks. Literally one year later 5th harmony was a thing. You dont get rid of racism in a year.
My personal opinion is she obviously wont publically own up to it but she still makes good music We have to forgive but we don't have to support Just me personally please don't hate on me boo
What makes it hard to forgive is that she was old enough to know right from wrong. Also the fact that you had it in your heart to do it in the first place speaks volumes about how you regard people who are different than you. Even if you don’t hate them, it sure shows that you think you are better than them and that doesn’t magically change.
The thing is stan Twitter doesn’t have any impact irl. People outside that app love her. She currently have 3 songs charting on Billboard, her videos keep getting views, spotify streams are good, she’s performing at the Grammys (again), etc. People don’t care about anyone past (except someone who doesn’t have a career aka you and some other people that want to see the dancer shine 🥴). It doesn’t matter if you forgive her or not, she is here to STAY. Like it or not. Now stop using her name for views.
Here’s my thing she’s part of the Latino/Latina community I always felt and thought that along with African Americans Latino/Latina where there with us understanding and also having a lot of the same racists shit but maybe that’s just where I’ve been🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️
the problem is that she comes from immigrant parents and she’s probably seen them face a lot of racism because of it. she’s a minority and she should know better than that
Since when? cuz all I see is you cancelling people for saying a word as children, yet michael jackson was a pedo, yall still in denial about that. Ariana comitted a crime licking a donut and making jokes about dead children, yall forgave her. Yall forgave cardi admitting to drugging and robbing men. Are you really at the point you can't forgive people for a word but forgive people that actually comitted crimes and sexually assaulted peopel WTF
She’s still going to have her career. Look at Jeffree Star, Justin Bieber, and hell even Donald Trump. They are STILL going to prosper. So she’s not going anywhere...
Exactly, she’ll be okay. Her fanbase knew all along and they didn’t care before sooo🤷♀️
True, because racist support racist..
Don’t Care Tbh but unlike the others, Justin has apologized from his own mouth 👀 and he hasn't done it again ever since because he knows better now!
Gtl Ridge They like to overreact to get a few easy likes on Twitter. I’m not saying what Camila said was okay but I mean really?
no one cares about the feelings of black people enough to hold her accountable in the first place.
Bc I’m mixed so half black and I had other black friends who would let their not black friends say the N word too but just with them
@@ah.05 oh
period CAMILA LEGEND
Jourdon Patron lies she claims CUBAN NOT MEXICAN
Facts 💯 I'm not supporting her
A part*
I'm not going to support her.
Accountability Culture!! I love that so much. Everyone just own their shit.
We are all not the same
Nas THIS EXACTLY!!!!!
Nas Right. I don’t remember being racist when I was 15 🧐
Anxious But Still Alive Same. My dad is homophobic. My mom is transphobic. All of my grandparents are racist. But I am not any of these.
"She wasn't a big staple. Cuz like she'll be missed by some, not all." Ooooh yes, realness and truth right out the gate.
Her song was #2 for two months, played everywhere and sang by millions. Sure jan.
*shrug*
@@darkmatter21_90 Look at you spilling chart facts and all and she doesn't even know your name... y'all stans are weird.
Plus Zach himself be quoting where his favs lay on the charts, does that make him weird?😂
the thing is that personally to me... she doesn't seem genuine, like at all.

@@woopshtbetta with all due respect, I never liked her because of two reasons: 1) I still don't think she can sing 🤷 and 2) something is really off about her. So maybe it was like that
There's a big difference between being genuinely apologetic and being apologetic because you got caught/called out. I believe Camila is only apologetic because she got called out.
As far as that stuff from her past being dug up... all I can say is what's done in the dark will eventually come to the light.

exactly. cause all her fans knew and SWORE it was fake like girl... okay.

This
But she wasn't say racist stuff in a cool way, she was saying them in a hateful tone with er..Saying we eat chicken and watermelon..It was just extremely nasty
Kia Cokely what school did you go too and who are you talking for ?

I hate cancel culture. I hate modern society And all the fucking bullshit around the Internet. This needs to stop ASAP

I got MySpace when I was 15(2007) Camila is younger & grew up in the internet age especially as a teen she would of known something even if she didn't get "taught" that in her life from family, friends, school etc
I've been a 5H fan since X factor and I knew about these posts for years & I hated that it wasn't addressed or talked about sooner.

Yall theres a big difference between problematic and racist. Please.
She's racist.
I only seen the title and my answer is NOPE
She has bettered herself and after she made those racist posts on that old tumblr, and moved to her new one, she posted/reblogged several pro black statements, advocated for black lives matter, and has donated to homeless black youth. I feel like she should be allowed the opportunity to continue to better herself and should be forgiven if her actions are authentic and she proves that she truly is sorry. If anything recent comes out then her deserves to be cancelled 🗑
Also, to clear up a tiny miscommunication: the screenshots of Camila calling Normani has been proven fake multiple times.
If you're going to cancel Camila, let me know if you're going to cancel Cardi? No? Thought so
Or Jennifer Lopez who said in a fucking song "I tell the n word mind their business" she said it so comfortably never edited it or apologized for using it!
@@tyeshiarobinson6442 ...or Fat Joe, or any Hispanic rapper... or pretty much everyone in the City of Miami who isn't black...
there was this one comment i saw about “people can make their own individual decision to forgive her” and i completely agree.
What else? Hahaha
Also I think is hypocrisy to want people to grow and change and get better, but when they do we just don't accept their apologies.
Honestly, when I was fifteen I said countless stupid things I said “Negro” accidentally and didn’t even know it was a bad thing until my friends corrected me. Like until I was corrected I didn’t know, I blame her surroundings.
Myrick Crampton 🖤
Yawn..
To be honest she ACTUALLY owes an apology to Normani...
Literally why? Normani said in an interview her and Camila is fine + the reunite last year or 2018. The screenshot that circulating on Twitter is proven fake and the one who made it apologized. She has a problematic past and she apologized changed didn't do it again and supports BLM. Not saying other community should forgive her but honestly in stan Twitter they are literally just using it to drag her
weWewe weWewe camila needs to do more than that fake ass apology
@@wewewewewewe4353 because of fans like you bullying her off the internet, trash.
All I'm saying is how come everyone forgave Justin but no one is willing to forgive Camila
BeliebersCult exactly. Justin said it with his actual mouth which is worse.
@@oc6753 WHITE MALE
@@oc6753 yeah I like both of them but that's not me saying I agree with what they both did .....I just feel like we should give camila a chance
You're very late, and he STILL gets hassled over it all the time, just like he is now, with you bringing it up when Camila is the subject right now
Can u stop talking about her?!
No
Exactlyy
I will say as a women of color who grew up in a predominantly white neighborhood, I didn't know about color or racism until I moved into the inner city of Providence, RI. Very Small state [38 miles, that's it]
And poor minded people in the city did not receive me well, because of my activities and dialect as an 8 year old black girl, with a good upbringing.
"This video is sponsored by Adam and eve" *THE IRONY* 😂😂😂
i haven’t watched the video yet, but the answer is *HELL NO!* .....that’s all.
The “environment” of that social media time IS NOT a justification for her actions. Wow...disappointed is an understatement.
The hypocrisy in this video is just...wow.
legit it’s so sick. trying to justify this when all her fans SWORE it was fake. but her fans are racist too so she’ll be alright.
Angel 505 I can appreciate their optimism and unbiased observations. Either way, Cabello will be just fine
No we shouldn’t 💁🏾♂️
if she actually stood up and genuinely apologized then yes. but what disgusted me is she put out that whack statement on her STORY where she didn't even recognize her problem, and then went on to post christmas photos a couple later like nothing happened. don't get me wrong she still has bops, but I can't in good conscience support her after that. i was extremely disappointed in how she handled that. next.
There is a video of her talking about the situation and apologizing
Forgive her if you want but it being in the past is a dumb reason to
Normani needs to be more consistent. That’s my answer.
Alex Mackey YT I love her too but I’m getting tired of waiting fr her music to come I think we have enough of the collabs for now we just want music from her alone
Fabulicious Tee Blame her record label, not Normani. Nowadays, record labels just don’t know how to push their artists like they used to back then.
she’s trying to perfect her debut album. when she’s finished with it which is about to be within the next month she’ll be consistent
I know like where is the follow up single? Motivation is 4 months old
How often would you say an artist should release a track though? Cause i think she's using the colabs to still be around whilst she perfects her solo stuff
The reason y she still has career is cuz Rihanna hasn’t spoken out yet on Camilla actions about that post she made about her 🤷🏾♀️
And black people are also taught to forgive...
Nope she did Normani wrong she never apologize to her in public either lost respect for her and Shawn Mendes
Forgive, NEVER forget, stop supporting. Simple 🤷🏿♂️
Those uses are themselves controversial, and despite their prevalence in hip-hop, a music and culture whose millions of fans span all races and ethnicities, the use of nigga by a person who is not black-in any context-is considered highly offensive.”
It’s highly offensive, i understand she apologized for using such insensitive and offensive language. why should she be cancelled as an artist? I don’t get it. One mistake will cause her life? And why would someone will dug up something negative from the past? Why now? When she is successful? Why one mistake should be the basis of her whole personality? And why would this be tagged as another “excuse”? Maturity and awareness is something we learn over time. And im not being insensitive or making excuses. This issue was dug up in the past and she addressed and apologized for what she did. And as far as im aware she’s doing what she can using her platform to a positive side and spreading awareness. What’s wrong with forgiving one mistake?
Camila is Cuban and Mexican she knows about racism, she knows exactly what she was saying. No to forgiving.
Who is the other guy his opinions are so mature thank u
That’s Tre Melvin.
Growing up in Miami...she knew better but choose to do what she did.
You've never been to Miami. Nearly every Hispanic person here says the N word in every sentence..
My personal opinion is she obviously wont publically own up to it but she still makes good music
We have to forgive but we don't have to support
Just me personally please don't hate on me boo
