Thank you for putting this out here. It took about 2 years for me to find DAI information online after my Tbi...and only because i read obscure medical journals. And very well done.

Sorry to hear of your injury Jim! Only someone like you who has been affected by DAI can truly understand the life changing devastation involved, and the fact that there is very little in the way of treatment. I wish you well...

How much rotational force is required to cause a DAI? The motion is similar to what you see music fans do while head-banging. Can the neck alone muscles alone cause this sort of damage without an actual impact?

Dr. Cal thank you so much for this informative video. The best I seen yet. Is it possible to have a DAI with absolutely no actual trauma? Is it possible to have this injury simply from loss of oxygen? I’ve been deep in research & cannot find any instances that the two are linked. Thank you again for helping others to understand. I will attach your link to our pages.

Great question Stag! By definition, DAI required rapid acceleration/deceleration of the head to put stress on neuronal axons. Impairment of oxygen flow to the brain is not a cause of DAI, though neuronal injury and death may occur in both instances.

What about deliberate chemical manipulation? By experts of clinical chemistry? Is that a normal brain ? Probably not.
