As soon as this fish is taken out of the water and its mouth is opened, many small fishes start coming out of its mouth. Actually, this is the arowana fish, which, after laying eggs, keeps those eggs in its mouth to protect them from predators, and when the babies come out of the eggs, it releases them from its mouth.

It's called a mouth brooder.. a lot of fish species do this. The mother won't eat for 30 some odd days give or take to raise the babies in its mouth.

I had some African chiclids that protected their babies like that. They were small but if you reached your hand in the tank, the mother and father would deliver a painful bite. The table broke and the tank shattered on the floor. I saved most of them. But afterwards the father wouldn't let the mother anywhere near the survivors,

The mom fish is hungry and traumatized. This is sad to see any living animals offspring being taken away for any reason. They didnt agree im sure.
Except it’s the father cichlid fish that mouth brood and hasn’t eaten in about 45 days at that stage. He’s hungry, weak and susceptible to predators and disease. After the breeders free the father of his babies he’s fed and cared for to revive his health. Also, this is clearly a breeder who knows only about 10% of the babies will make it to adulthood if left in the care of Mother Nature but more than 75% of the babies will grow up if taken and cared for separately. These men just saved most those babies.

And some people capture them like you seen on this clip and rising them in a man made pond its like a prison for those fish..after they grow big enough and will sell them for a good money and yet again those fish will still live in a beautiful man made pond.. and also the parents will not eat their babies but only by accidently swallows some of the young when the father/fry notice a sign of danger and immediately swim back to safety place.

Many species of African cichlids are also mouth brooders. I used to have breeding pairs of several, including iodotrophius springeri (rusty cichlids).

That's a male. The male takes the eggs after the female latest them and carry some around. Also, this fish is mainly used aquariums and stuff, not food. And the males can end up eating some of the babies if they feel like the babies are taking too long.
