Your commitment and persistence is first class, Andy! Showing up again and again is the hard part. Pushing through to finish is the cherry on top. Bummer that the cafe was closed 😉. Keep going!
@@RunFreeandStrong Thanks Reto, I don’t think I realised how much the half marathon took out of me tbh, I could hardly walk on the Monday (the day after)😩. The calf pain took me by surprise but I think it was HM related and the fact that I was slow jogging. That would be a great place for a coffee afterwards for sure😀
This looks like a really nice event. I spent a fair amount of time waiting around Hanley, especially the bus station, when i was at uni in Stafford. Didn't realise this park was here. Will have to get there some day. Interesting to get the different point of view from near the back of the pack. Thanks for the chat tonight mate 👍
@@markg99 Yes Mark, it’s a “must visit” Parkrun, it’d be even better on a sunny Spring or Autumn day. The amount of great parks I’ve found because of Parkrun is remarkable, we then sometimes visit on a Sunday with our dog😊If I’d been pushing myself I’d have missed out😊
Brilliant video Andy. Gorgeous setting. Hope you haven’t picked up another niggle. You could do with a magic sponge like they have at my grandson’s football matches… If only eh!! 😀 ❤
@@lindalou8308 Thanks for saying so Linda, I appreciate it😀I’ve never heard of a magic sponge but I’ll start looking in Google later😂I’m hoping it was HM recovery related, tomorrow is when I’ll put in a bit more effort and then we’ll know (the heel thing is, I think🙏slowly improving, didn’t feel it in the HM, just afterwards😂).
@@MartinWelsh-h2d Hi Martin, thanks for watching, glad you’re enjoying the content, please subscribe if you have a moment😊I’ll be back at Hanley in Spring, that is such a beautiful park!
Looked lovely, thank you for showing us around. I'm sure the calf will have been down to the recent longer than usual run. I was actually going to say sometimes going a bit slower can bring these things on, not being as light on the feet. Enjoyable as always pal
@@TheRunningWhale Thanks for watching Craig, it’s such a lovely location, the calf, I think you’re probably right, a combination of the Half still affecting me and jogging vs running might be it💡😊
@@raleyadventures Thanks for watching guys, Saturdays wouldn’t be complete without a Parkrun😀The Wammy cafe was great and it’s ram packed with athletes run by athletes✅😀Last Saturday’s Parkrun was a cracker - including the cafe. Upload as usual, Thursday at 3pm😊
That looks to be a really nice park. Thank you for sharing. When I was recovering from plantar and tried to run the Great Manchester Half in May I also had some issues with cramping (it actually resulted in my only parkrun DNF a week later!!). I put it down to being a case of the muscles not being used to doing so much work because I hadnt been doing the miles. A proper sports massage and some yoga sorted them right out. There's no harm in walking the occasional parkrun though. It's good to cheer on those people that as you say are grinding it out every week.
@@TheRegularRunner Thanks Matt, I think that Half really punished my body, I could hardly walk the day after😂I mix up my activities and have a massage every 3 weeks so hopefully it’ll settle. Great to socialise with the lower order runners, it can be quite a lonely run if you’re in the last 10 or so😊
It wasn't just you mate. My parkrun a week later was a similar experience to yours (the video is due later today). I planned on doing a bit of a performance comparison to the first video I ever uploaded and it ended up being a demonstration that all runners have tough days some times. Well done for making it round to the end though, and to do so in such a positive mood is great!
One of my nearest but only done it once. My Saturday also began in Stoke...by catching the 6.49 train to London which arrived late into Euston at 8.35. Sailing close to the wind but luckily we just made it to Finsbury Parkrun. Warm up was the dash through the tube stations.
@AndyCliffMTB does this make me a hard-core parkrun tourist? We did similar when we went to Highbury and Hampstead Heath events. Sadly I don't think any others are doable without staying over unless they move the start back to 9.30.

Well done Andy, times don’t always matter, you showed up and got round. It reassures us slower runners, even the speedy runners have their off days!
