    The key to solving crime starts at home and it do not start when a child is 5 or 6 it starts at birth and continue through life and the problem with the black community is having kids outside of wedlock. But this is also the problem with the white community they and by they I mean the media want you to think that is is ONLY a black community thing. IT is not it is a moral thing and morals or the lack of them knows not the difference between race and it does not discriminate,

    Plots for temporary living in tiny homes (many designs can house 2-4 people) are needed. They can be free to low rent, many places do 6 months. Its to help people have time to work and get into bigger homes.
    And yes… price gouging on homes and rent needs to stop! Wages need increased! Food costs need lowered.

    My hat goes off to mayor Adams, at least he is attacking this issue head on, and as being a former member of the NYPD, he understands you can hire as many officers as the budget will allow and you can make laws as strict as the budget can allow and what that means is we end up in a situation America is faced with today. Which is the jails are full and there's no more money in the budget. The police have done their job the judges and prosecutors have done their jobs as well, but the public cannot stomach higher and higher taxes to build and staff more institutions especially when it doesn't do anything to stop crime.

    • @kilvapkram4302
      @kilvapkram4302 Рік тому

      I can't believe as a former NYPD Officer you wrote this?
      "situation America is faced today"? It's a damn revolving door for criminals.
      And the criminals know it. "Intersection takeover" even if caught,...it's a laugh to the criminal.
      "Smash and grab",......$50,000-$100,000 in merchandise/damage,....barely a slap on the wrist if caught.
      The Officers want to do their job,......Mayor Adams is holding them back.
      Ceskoslovenska.

    • @ct4566
      @ct4566 Рік тому

      @kilvapkram4302 in a country that has over 700 billionaires, more than any other country, it all boils down this, our criminal justice system, housing, education and the economy as a whole is based on the middle class which has to be the vast majority of people for all these services to function and work properly. A good example of this is when you have too many illegal migrants working and being paid less because of their status, now that's good for the business owners that may be a part of a corporation because it reduces labor costs and increase profits. The downside to this practice is that people who are paid less can not be taxed in the amount to support these services that include schools, fire fighters, police and the criminal justice system. this means officers, prosecutors, courts, judges, jails, and prisons, which takes massive amounts on money to run, I think you can see where this is going. Our system is collapsing because the middle class is disappearing, or if not already, disappeared.
      And who's behind it and why, well the why is easy, its profits. The US has lost millions of high paying manufacturing jobs, jobs that kept people out of provety and at the same time reduced crime and paid taxes to deal with those who decide to commit crimes. With these people now working service jobs that can barely keep a roof over their head and many of them loosing their housing and becoming homeless while desperately trying to hold on to job before they loose their grip and just start foraging for food, they have no money, no place to stay and the job they have will never be enough to pay for housing that keeps rising further and further out of reach, so they just quit. Now, of course, if this is one individual, this would have no impact, but when you are talking about millions of people, the impact is devastating.
      If we do not figure out how to grow the middle-class, with good paying jobs for the majority of Americans, corruption and crime will not be solved, try telling a homeless person its illegal to urinate on the streets, and if you do nothing is going to happen to you, we just through you would like to know.

    This is a good start but people in positions really have to understand that you can’t just say what you want to say and deny what people are living in their day to day reality. As a person who grew up poor on the lower East Side and who was very much part of the problem I can tell you for a fact that most crimes are not crimes of necessity. It was just an easier way to get what I wanted. Until people start to understand that all your empathy and passion is taken for granted and used against you. If you grew up in New York you know… I don’t care what you say Rudy Gulliani clean up this city from when it was at its worst. You can think of him what you want but facts are undeniable

    Impressive with the panelists who spoke with the exception of the ten gallon hat guy and his conservative talking points I picked up. As good as it gets of the crime discussion even with lots of city mayors declining to participate (a shame on those who declined especially from my area the ones from Baltimore and DC). The Baltimore State's Attorney being on the townhall and not the mayor was a raised eyebrow WTF and SMDH to me. Not a good look for Brandon Scott to be upstaged by your State's Attorney to me. I would have liked to have seen discussion be broader to address how it is trickling into rural and suburban areas. There was oversaturation discussion of crime = it's a city thing and not realizing it filters into the suburbs and rural areas too. The left and right and heavy discussion on left democratic mayors I was glad to see the Hartford, CT and Durham, NC mayors respectively push back on the ad nauseum talking point Chris kept emphasizing party line based. I could see the frustration of that talking point of Chris's annoying the hell outta the Toledo, OH mayor. As an outsider looking in? Cuomo's booking people should stop wasting their damn time inviting Eric Adams for anything NYC related. Perhaps he has an axe to grind with Chris or both Alpha fellas had a beef or rubbed the wrong way incident. It is a shame that fentanyl which impacted mostly Black, Brown poorer communities NOW is a problem because white young people in middle and upper middle class are now sadly impacted by this. That's not right to me!!

    Quote of the Day: We Need Leaders to actually lead us to great prominence but we’re not getting that from the guy who’s occupying The White House. Leadership is badly needed for America because Crime is surging.

      We need GOP and Democratic leadership and legislators (House and Senate) that will actually not waste our taxpayer's money on BS hearings and on the issues discussed in a crime townhall. Your ignorance level is the same as the person whose quote you relished and sadly those on the GOP side (House and Senate) who aren't doing a damn thing!! Crime surging will be related to you addressing your local politicians not Biden. U know the same way you don't want to hold the former guy who occupied the WH for his horrible actions!!

    O'reilly who didn't need to BOTHER AN APPEARANCE at this decent townhall can't at all relate to the experiences of others whose lives aren't his and vice versa. Kudos to the sister mayor from Durham, NC politely telling him that. O'reilly who runs his GD mouth and lives in his fancy upstate Long Island, NY house with all his hypocrisies and fallacies can't at all relate to the day to day experiences the Durham, NC mayor sees with her very own eyes and has to make decisions on. Arizona Ten Gallon hat spouts a lot of right-wing talking points and not really to me about solutions oriented to crime.

    The whole "I didn't blame the car" argument is a straw man. The car when used for its intended purpose, does not kill people. The intended purpose of the type of guns we are concerned about is killing people (we are not referring to hunting rifles etc). That's a big difference, and pretending a car is no different than an AR (or any other gun) is intentionally dishonest.

      Yes, yes, yes. "Didn't blame the car" is not applicable to guns.
      So, how do you keep guns out of the hands of bad people, sheriff?

    The reason for crime and all SINS is that people that even believe in GOD does not believe what HE says. Things will never change because mankind can not change his nature. The thoughts of his heart, ie, his mind is on evil continually, And a corrupt police system is part of the problem.
