I was up at the Ponderosa Cafe last week and a middle aged man had put diesel in his 2023 R1250GS. He didn't get away so lightly. Tank off and drained. Airbox off to acess Carbs, Jets had to be flushed. Mechanic called out so very expensive mistake. You were extremely lucky. Ride safe
I couldn’t believe it when she told me (I thought how could you do that!) but there must have been 6/7 blokes approach me while i was getting the diesel out telling me they’d done the same. One bloke said he’d done it twice on his BMW GS in the last year 😂
@@mid.bike.crisis In fairness you were surrounded by mostly guys. I work with hundreds of women. LOADS have done it...they're jut reluctant to admit it.
After 40 years of riding bikes, driving cars, trucks and horticultural machinery, I put petrol into a diesel Polo and travelled 20 miles with a misfire! Mind alarm bells rang in my head. Popped into the local garage and they drained the system and changed the filter. Ran beautiful after and no problems. I now check the pump I'm at. We sometimes don't think and need a wake up call.
OMG know that feeling done it myself I was absolutely gutted only thing was I thought I would give the bike a treat and give it the premium cost a bit more but hey ho what a dickhead premium diesel not premium petrol. But like you guys got away with it and yes it is a Honda smoked just like yours for a bit. At least the top end has had a good clean. No issues since on my second full tank now. So the numpties that say how could you do that well yes you can and if you use both diesel and petrol vehicles on a daily basis very easy. Just don't do it the other way round Petrol into diesel not good. Anyway great video loving the fish and chips Amazing. Ride safe guys 🤣👍

yup, done it once , put a couple of quid of diesel in before i realised. Managed to drain it and fill right up with petrol again, was smoking marlboro for a few miles
Not really. You look at the hole you are about to put the pump in, say out loud what it needs, then look at the petrol hose, confirm out loud what it is about to be put into your tank. Takes longer to read than it does to do it. I have used this system for 30 years as I run a number of vehicles. Never fails.
putting diesel in a petrol engine is not as bad for the engine as putting petrol in a diesel engine. putting petrol in a diesel engine causes all the Rubber seals in the diesel pump and injectors to Dry out and you get major air leaks ...
A guy from the AA told me the opposite. Diesel in a petrol engine can wreck the engine, whereas the other way around is not likely to do permanent damage..

My eldest daughter works in a petrol station and tells me this happens daily. She can indeed confirm it is almost always women that do this.
