I love that bouncing effect on the piano
Sounds like there may be 3 Farfisa organ parts/tracks in some parts. This song sounds simple without analysis, but it's actually very creative, with masterful changes throughout, and perfectly arranged. Not only very enjoyable without analysis, but another example of Reggie's musical genius as well. This is a real treat to hear these isolated parts. Don't know where you got it, but thanks for posting!
It’s at least two Farfisa organ parts
Elton really is the goat
Lovely Elton John, til'the end of times 💙💙💙🙏🙏🙏
piano and organ perfect colaboration
thank you :)
i love it
The organ riff resembles a bit of Lets Dance by Chris Montez and Elton knows that.
I've been thinking of doing The Beach Boys but the only multitrack I have of them is a live version of Good Vibrations. I might upload some of the tracks from that but I dunno haha
campbellboy14 do it
hey! real cool what you have done with all thr tracks on your page!! is there any chance you can do any of The beach Boys??
Can anyone tell me what that synth sound going over the piano would be called on a keyboard
no idea but its played on a farfisa organ lmao
According to an interview with Elton John, it's a Farfisa organ, overdubbed by Elton himself. I got that info from Wikipedia. In addition to overdubbing both the piano and organ, Elton also overdubbed both the lead and backing vocals on the studio recording. In the first live performance in 1973, his drummer Nigel Olsson, is seen on the backing vocals. I'm not sure who played the organ in that performance tho. I know that in another live performance, the organist was Elton's engineer, David Henchtnel, so I'm assuming that it was David Henchtnel who played organ in the first live performances. When percussionist Ray Cooper joined, he played the organ in the live performances, followed by James Newton Howard, then (up until his untimely death in 2009), Guy Babylon would play the organ in live performances of this song, and beginning in 2009, it would be Kim Bullard playing organ in live performances of Crocodile Rock. James Newton Howard, Guy Babylon, and Kim Bullard are the most well-known touring keyboardists for The Elton John Band. Back on track, that instrument is a Farfisa organ, it's sound is very similar to the cheap synthesizers used by many new wave bands of the 1980s, so I can see where the confusion comes. I think in later live performances, the touring keyboardists (e.g. Kim Bullard) would indeed, use a keyboard to simulate the organ sound. The organ part on this song reminds me Pink Floyd, as they used the Farfisa organ quite extensively on their early work, such as the organ part on "See Emily Play".
I remember when rock was young
Me and Suzie had so much fun
Holding hands and skimming stones
Had an old gold Chevy and a place of my own
But the biggest kick I ever got
Was doing a thing called the Crocodile Rock
While the other kids were Rocking Round the Clock
We were hopping and bopping to the Crocodile Rock
Well Crocodile Rocking is something shocking
When your feet just can't keep still
I never knew me a better time and I guess I never will
Oh Lawdy mama those Friday nights
When Suzie wore her dresses tight
And the Crocodile Rocking was out of sight
La lalalala la lalalala la lalalala la
But the years went by and the rock just died
Suzie went and left us for some foreign guy
Long nights crying by the record machine
Dreaming of my Chevy and my old blue jeans
But they'll never kill the thrills we've got
Burning up to the Crocodile Rock
Learning fast as the weeks went past
We really thought the Crocodile Rock would last
Well Crocodile Rocking is something shocking
When your feet just can't keep still
I never knew me a better time and I guess I never will
Oh Lawdy mama those Friday nights
When Suzie wore her dresses tight
And the Crocodile Rocking was out of sight
La lalalala la lalalala la lalalala la
I remember when rock was young

Holding hands and skimming stones
Had an old gold Chevy and a place of my own

La lalalala la lalalala la lalalala la
