This is awesome..I remember back in 1995 when I first learned how to TIG weld aluminum..I was at work one day in the shop and ran out of work for the day on stainless steel items we/our company was contracted to fabricate and started piddling around with the TIG torch..one of the other welders told me to weld this aluminum piece together and I had to tell him I didn't know how..so he showed me how to switch the ac/dc voltage on the Miller machine over to AC and change the frequency type and that was all it took for me to begin my many years of TIG welding aluminum.
I wish I could go back to those days and work at a shop like Noonans..that would be my all time most favorite job ever ! Like others have said I can watch this type of video doing repairs like this.
Thanks Noonan for showing this..made my day !

When I was doing propeller repair we would peen the weld with an air hammer using a rounded balled tip. It helps relax the weld and keep it from pulling so much and changing the pitch. Since this piece is getting re machined and cnc’d it might help you guys keep it in tolerance. There is no finish weld visible so it might be something to look into. Keep up the good work fellas

ABSOLUTELY I would like to see that part of the repair. How much repair cost would it have to be to be worth just getting another block? How bad would the damage have to be to not be able to repair it? The ability to repair these blocks makes them more attractive.

What's your opinion on a repair like this in the main webbing of a cast aluminum block, will it be near original strength or is it a waste of time? I see a lot of folks peen their stitches but yall did not here, is it not necessary or maybe just for certain circumstances?
