That Marlon Mack screen was the longest TD of the season for us, and was probably the highlight play of our season. It made that Chiefs game exciting for a hot second.
I’d love to see a comparison of things Payton did with the Saints and things Russ did with Seattle. If we can capture even a piece of that then I think Russ could turn things around.
I wanted the bronco's to run more RPO's last season, but obviously they abandoned that after the first game for no reason at all. Until Roseburg finally took over. I trust Sean will have the wherewithal to understand that's one of our strengths. (I absolutely love that formation they used on the designed pull, hopefully they'll use that formation more in their system)
So happy to see you again! If you have the time, it might be also interesting how Payton worked the offense when starting to work with Drew Brees, as that situation might be a good comparison too, as SP has to work with a QB, who already has some experience, but he hasn't worked with before. Could also used to show how the offense of SP has changed over the time, and what that could imply for the Broncos offense. Edit: Regarding your screen take: From my memory (no evidence for it lol) our screen play was horrible to non-existing for the fair share of the last decade aka post-Manning-era.
Hey Tim! Love your videos, could you ever do one on Kyler Murray and the Cardinals, and whether the breakdown was play calling or talent? Would love that, love the Broncos videos but as a Cards fan married to a Broncos fan I’d love some Murray analysis!
So glad to see you again, Tim! As always, impeccable analysis and explanation. I'm pumped about this coming year, and after watching your video, I'm even more stoked! I honestly have no doubt that Russ is going to make a lot of people eat a ton of crow this year.
Super psyched to see you back, Tim. Truly always appreciate the great work that you do and I was wondering where are you been? I assume you’ve been busy hope your life is great and I’m happy to throw money your direction to help with some of the cost of doing this work.
I think a lot of things Payton did in NOLA won't translate. Brees was very good at reading the field horizantally... that has never been Wilson's game. Wilson is better starting under center and reading a half-field vertically....things a "Shanahan"-style WC offense (like Russ ran in Seattle) often sets up via rollouts, boots, etc.... Payton is smart enough to bring that in (his comments last year about finding the 30-plays Russel consistently executes will naturally lead him to the half-field reads, etc.).... and he can also build those sorts of reads via RPOs, etc. The most frustrating part of last year was Hackett saying we were going to bring all those WCO concepts in (that Russ historically excelled at)... and then all year we just ran the same shotgun set, full-field reads that QARodgers excels at but that are NOT Wilson's bread and butter.
Payton is better than any offensive mind seattle had, and now that Wilson has had his "let russ cook" behavior checked by allowing him to cook and seeing how awful he was when he cooked, Payton basically has the ideal situation to get Russ to comply with anything he schemes up. I still think Wilson is cerebrally limited, but Payton will maximize what skills he does have as best as possible, without Russ pushing back wanting to bite off more than he can chew to chase MVP type passing numbers.
As a saints and broncos fan Peyton will just mix in more Taysom hill packages, better screens with a consistent run game. If broncos fans think taysom hill is a bad comparison they need to do more research 😅
Seems like we did pretty good with screens that first game vs the Seahawks, then it all went to pot. It really does feel like we were the worst screen team in football. That won't happen under Sean Payton.
I mean, peak Russ should’ve gotten MVP rather than Mediocre Matt Ryan. That said, he’s been washed for a few seasons. The last couple in Seattle were pinned together with some brief stretches of hope, but overall a decline into hopelessness. The offense was only successful in spit of him. Last year we saw the culmination of a building issue. Same issues from before, just less help from coaches. His game has been figured out by the league for some time and he can’t do what he used to do to mitigate his limitations. Add in some ego and you’ve got his current state. He’ll be better this season. Certainly. But if I was a Broncos fan, I’d be focusing on getting a new young QB into the locker room as soon as possible (again). That way Sean Peyton can set ya’ll up with a future, since picking QBs has been your achilles heel since Elway.
Russell can be a good complimentary piece for an offense but the issue is his delusion, he believes he’s a volume passer. And he wants elite volume passer money.

russ playing his best game against the chargers was my fav

Good to see you back, Tim!! Cerebral Payton will be right up your alley and will make both you and I very happy, me thinks.

FTA BABY LETTSSSS GOOO
CANT AGREE MORE! Other than that TD I bet we were one of the worst offenses at running screens of all time

I always hated first day of school.
SAMURAI!!
TJ!!!!!!!!!
Roseburg don't get enough credit for the last two games
The Broncos will be better this season IF they can stay healthy.

Is this true that this is the first video you've done in five months? I'm subscribed and I have not received Anything from you.

100% worst screen team in the league without a doubt. hell, for the last 6 years.
