actually a lot of people liked it. The only reason it wasn't as commercially successfull as their other albums was that Billie Joe was in rehab and wasn't there to tour or promote the albums.

Blue was only his first electric guitar. His dad _did_ give him his first ever guitar, which was a Cherry Red Hohner acoustic. Don't know what became of it...

My very first CD i bought was Dookie, still play it almost everyday ! My fav songs are Basket case, She and Longview
green day is called green day because Billy Joe Armstrong smoked a whole punch of pot and wrote a song called green day based on how the drugs made him feel. someone either a fan or one of the band members wrote the phrase green day onto the back of a jacket and from there on everyone sorta called them green day although Billy Joe states himself in a interview that i quote "we probably have the dumbest band name ever" so i have to disagree with fact #20

well, that's kind of valid and also completely wrong. they're the same person. st jimmy is the main character's more violent mentally unstable drug-addicted alter ego. and he's typically just called jesus, not the jesus of suburbia. the jesus of suburbia is just how he describes himself at one point, he has no actual name in the album. this is the widely accepted explanation, but then again it's a rock opera and it's open to interpretation

I lost my dad at 8, same type of cancer as Billie Joe’s dad. I see Billie joe as someone just like me, a role model of how he dealt with the exact same thing, and came out stronger. I lost my dad in September and Wake me up when September ends, and boulevard of broken dreams especially connected to me. I was sent to an all boys school and had no friends for years, constantly bullied. I walked alone, not knowing my worth. Billie joe’s music got me through all of that. Thank you.
Something I can relate to with Billie is that I lost my one of my mom’s closest friends who was basically her sister to cancer as well. And a few months ago, I made the connection between when we lost her and he lost his dad; we were both 10 years old.
I've been a HUGE Green Day fan for many years now, and I've read basically every article and book on them possible, so I just want to say that you did a great job on all these facts! Loved it!

The song "Brain Stew" is not about drugs. It's about Billie Joe being unable to sleep after his first kid was born because he was worried that something might happen to his son while we was sleeping. He stayed up for days at a time, to the point of hallucinating.
