    Hands down the best painting videos. She speaks clearly and gets straight to the point. No lengthy comments, no long intros, no stupid jokes. Just straight ahead helpful, with clear, brief, easy to follow instructions, and good examples. Her before and after comparisons are excellent, as are her tips and summary observations and comments. This is the first UA-cam channel I ever subscribed to.

    Thank you so much for this video. I searched quite a bit of what the minis looked like before and after quickshade. I was really dissapointed in my minis with using the quickshade. I was glad to see the varnish you used in the video. I am excited to use it on my minis

    Awesome tutorial. I love that you used painted minis to show how it works. Soooo many tutorials use primed minis and you really can't tell what it will do. Kudos.

    When I first used quick shade I dipped it and wasn't convinced it would look like it showed in the booklet but it did after I removed the excess. Your painting method is a much better way to quick shade and I now use it.

    This video was posted a long time ago, but is still applicable to m. Very good video! My question is, is the Quickshade same as an oil wash, without the clean-up of reming the oils in places you need? Seems the same to me, but still really nice finish!

      The Quickshade has done great work on my zombies and other miniatures. I can recommend it. It can do great work, especially if you know what the effects are. This saved me so much time on the hordes of zombies. And everyone likes how they look. This is a great way to get some very good results very quick.
      I hope you have such great results with it as I had :).

    For unpainted minis, do you need to use a primer before quick shade? Does the quick shade stay on without a primer? Do you need to wash the mini with soap/water before shading?

    • @MissFlamepaints
      @MissFlamepaints  7 років тому +1

      Kevin Young you dont need to prime the minis. The minis I did not paint (the rats and other brown minis) I also did not prime. It works fine on plastic. I am not sure for metalic minis since I dont have those. Also you dont have to wash them. I like to make sure there is no dirt spots on them or anything.

      Quickshade by army painter has polyurethane. It's like a wood finish product. Shades (citadel) and inks (army painter) are water based.

    • @silvarknite7

  • @xxbrkdwnxx
    @xxbrkdwnxx 4 роки тому +1

    pro tip: you can pre-dilute your shade on a pallet with some water so you don't have to go over the miniature a second time with water.

    • @TheSilentW
      @TheSilentW 4 роки тому

      No! This works with the Army Painter Quickshade Dark Tone Inks (the 18ml bottles) but not with this stuff! It is not water soluble and you even need acetone or a similar solution to clean your brush.

    • @xxbrkdwnxx
      @xxbrkdwnxx 4 роки тому

      @@TheSilentW by that logic thinning it on the model wont work either.

    • @MissFlamepaints

      Justin Stewart I did not prime them before I used the Quickshade. I liked the color of the minis so I gave them a quick wash with water and saop. When they were dry I applied the Quickshade on them.

  • @getoffyoubassandletsfish8565

    Is it just me or does the quick shade stay sticky FOREVER! Even after removing most of it it stays forever tacky. I’ll wait 3-4 days and it will stay sticky. I then while it’s sticky do my lighter touch ups for high lights on outer edges. I then wait for anther day then spray varnish all over it so it drips off bottom. If I do it too early pain runs.

  • @Centottantini
    @Centottantini 7 років тому +1

    Are there no side effects using quickshade and matte finish directly on the plastic miniatures, without priming? Is the strong tone suggested for all kind of miniature colors or is it not suitable for cold tones, as light blue for example?

    • @MissFlamepaints
      @MissFlamepaints  7 років тому +1

      F. D. Lamb you can use Quickshade from The Army Painter straight on plastic miniatures (without priming first). The light brown minis from Mice and Mistyc I also did not prime. I do recommend to wash and rins your minis first. Quickshade sticks to almost anything but other washes might couse problems.
      You can use the color strong tone for any color you like. The only thing is it will darken all colors so also light blues. And if you want to add a bit of highlight to that you can do a thin layer of (white) zenithal spray hightlight.
      I hope this helps you :).

    Its nice but in the end its just an enamel wash. Its an Unneeded expensive product. Most people that paint already have some sort of wash. Im not knocking the product but its cheaper to just make your own wash from whatever color you want

    • @MissFlamepaints
      @MissFlamepaints  7 років тому

      Bedankt ;). I do think you need terpetine from the gamme (or something similar). I always use it and this way I can keep using the same brush to quickshade. If I don't use that my brush is ruined. It even says on the bottom of the can: "use mineral turpentine to clean your brushes".

    It's just varnish mixed with ink. Why wouldn't buy matte varnish and mix ink in it? You would eliminate a whole step.

    • @MissFlamepaints
      @MissFlamepaints  7 років тому

      I am not familiar with that method. I am not sure if you can have any control of how much shade would go on which spots. With the Quickshade I have some control of I want some areas to be lighter with the shade or darker. Also this is a great product that actually does some wonders for your miniatures. The recesses will be of a darker shade and the Quickshade will be lighter on the raised parts.
      I have never seen a miniature with matte varnish and a mix of ink. So I don't know how well it would react to the recesses and raised parts of the miniature. Or even how it would look. Do you use the varnish to paint it on the miniatures? I use the spray paint.

    I cannot get this crap to work for me at all what-so-ever. I got the 250ml can to dip and the first mini I dipped was ruined. Too thick. I added thinner to it and still, ruined mini after ruined mini. I then added more thinner and brushed it on...... ruined. This stuff does NOT work as advertised. Adding thinner only made this crap work worse. It doesnt flick off after the dip and it doesnt settle into crack over a 30 second period (it dries up too fast) then it wont soak up in to the dry brush from the pooled areas. This stuff sucks!!!!!! Never again.
