- Peter Cardwell is joined by former chief immigration officer at Border Force, Kevin Saunders, to discuss Labour’s plans to allow 100,000 migrants ‘in limbo’ to apply to stay in the UK.
It comes after the Government said the Rwanda deportation scheme will be scrapped.
Around 90,000 migrants who were set to be sent to Rwanda will be among 102,000 who will be processed through the system, the Daily Express reports.

heard today on LBC that ppl on benefits and disabiltiy need to find work (in so many words), Labour are having a crack down as claims have risen 100k in a year. Ukrainians are European so there isn't the clash of culture. They have only been given visas for X amount of years. Most have opted to stay in places such as Poland being closer to Ukraine. Some from here have already returned home.

If you need workers in care homes or other “blue collar”jobs why don’t you just make it easier for Americans to find?
We are all terrified to not work, we don’t rely on benefits, and so many would immediately jump in with both feet to be part of the British culture.
But someone who works in care homes or other jobs like that here can’t possibly afford the process of moving so far.
If you streamlines the process and did online job interviews, and helped us find a place to live we wouldn’t be such a drain on the economy.
Plus…. We actually come with identification AND background checks. All we need is a job and a place to sleep for a few months.
Instead you have hundreds of thousands coming who int work, don’t pay taxes, send all the extra money they get out of the country, speak a different language, and dislike your culture. They are literally there for free handouts. Not all of them, but I’ve seen too many interviews to ignore that there is a real take take take attitude with immigrants.
Need workers who are already trained, would happily embrace the culture, and come with background checks, but also come a place known for very hard working dedicated employees who aren’t used to vacation days?
Offer someone in America who ISN’T rich enough to hire an immigration lawyer a chance. We aren’t scared of hard work, and our appreciation for paid sick leave will be overwhelming.

I’ve recently retired after working in care for forty years,I’ve never known so many immigrants working in care sector and those jobs were advertised in certain countries offering sponsorship,accommodation for applicants and their family. You couldn’t make it up.
