This is awesome, reminds me of the scene in ready player one where they go in to the garage and iron giant is being built. Its cool to see a game where you can make what you want if you have the knowledge.
Now the key is to find a way to do what Star Citizen is doing with its servers and make it possible to have servers control sections of a universe. That way players can build anywhere in the universe, and since it is modular the universe can be expanded by adding more servers. The universe could also transfer anything between servers, allowing players to seamlessly transition through the servers in the universe with whatever they may have or create. Then you could also have personal sectors people can get that protect their sector from being influenced by another or for when people want to make protected creations like games or other specialized creations. Or something idk. I am just naming off things I think would be cool for a true final modular expandable VR system that would allow any kind of creation possibility as long as enough servers can be established. Also a modular server design would allow for maintenance on certain servers without dropping the entire universe for maintenance. Would allow people to keep doing their thing if their section is not needing maintenance.
I really wish Resonite (well it wasn't Resonite but I people know what I mean) picked up during the VRC EAC rollout. I know my group checked it out and I met some cool people. I'm sorry I haven't been back on to hang i've been spending less time on VRC as well and just overall doing other things. Resonite reminds me of a more modern Secondlife and I really miss that kind of world. It's just so hard to make the switch when most people I hang with are on VRC and have no desire to switch over. I am gonna have to get on and check it all out again at some point.
I'm a past Second Life player myself, and migrated over to Resonite after the communities I was active in slowly dried out. Resonite definitely has much of the same magic that made me originally invested in Second Life, so chances are if you're a SL veteran you'll probably enjoy it (also land is free*!) My suggestion would be to organize a little Resonite tour with some of your friends if you can. It's similar to the concept of world hopping, just that you're having a field trip to an entirely different platform. It's also never one or the other, both VRC and Resonite have their own unique experiences to offer, and have pretty different goals, so there's no need to decide on one.
@@JackTheFoxOtter There's a small chance I could get some to pop over for a night but I feel most are gonna be all "we already did that" lol. It's all good, i've been wanting to check out Resonite again for a bit I just haven't gotten around to it. I'm not exactly a busy person but I have a "too many things I wanna do not enough time" problem lol. It would be nice to make myself a little place to chill at and on those nights I know i'm gonna just sit around watching youtube anyway I could at least do it somewhere cool. That was definitely one thing I enjoyed about SL. Made myself some simple earrings one time and was pretty happy with it, and months later had this idea to make a pair of headphones for myself. They weren't the fanciest or anything of course, but it was cool to have something I put together.
It's similar but on the path to improvement. They still need to re-do a few things. The new UI framework just was added, and you can see the settings have been completely redone.
Some of the biggest hurdles for any new social VR platform will likely be overcomming the network effect advantage that VRchat has along with all of the sunk costs that people have in VRchat.
It’s cool you can build stuff in-game, but what’s the vendor lock in like? I loved the simplicity of Second Life, but not being able to utilize any of that outside SL was a real bummer. The trade off of complexity vs portability when using external tools like Unity and Blender was a better fit for me than SL’s approach.
Resonite itself is more of a tool in those regards. You can export stuff you create as common asset file formats, there's not really a easy way to export custom behaviors currently though. In the future the importing / exporting functionality is planned to be improved upon. Stuff like ProtoFlux is difficult to export because it doesn't really exist outside of Resonite, the same does not go for assets though.
Sing all this makes me want to actually get a VR compatible computer and headset Now looking closely I think we actually have the real world version of The Oasis here
I downloaded Resonite when I saw your first video on it, but it didn't worked for me (the interface is invisible, and that's if I'm lucky, and the stars are correctly animated, because it's often worse) I tried from time to time, and again today, and it still the same :/ I couldn't find a way to contact the dev or make a bug report either :/ It's sad because it looks promising
@@TahvoStudio Thanks, I joined the discord, but I found someone with a solution online, he says I should download a lib to add to resonite, and it'll work, I did and it finally worked (at least in desktop mode, only have to try with the headset, but I'll try that later ^^')
The main thing is NeosVR is no longer getting updates. But some as a feature comparison, here's some things Resonite has that NeosVR does not. Graphics Settings, Earmuff mode, Native OSC support, Full Settings re-work (plus a bunch of new settings), updates to the UI style and look overall. Linear color gammet, and more!
The parallels are definitely there. It has similar features to the good stuff SL has, but without a bunch of the bad stuff SL has. Has basically replaced Second Life for me, that's for sure.
@@lizadonrex yes depending on the functionality but it would have to be completely recreated from the ground up this men's things like toggles and other effects including gestures which are possible
@@lizadonrex not currently, Resonite doesn't need an SDK for you to make content. Resonite's collaborative nature allows other people to help you out in real time!

So we now have Cloudscape Harvest and Ironworks. Can we combine those and make a better game than A Township Tale? That game had all the potential in the world, but fell flat on its face because of how awful it was managed, updates have became sparse with long times between, and lackluster.
I definitely want to add crafting to Cloudscape Harvest. As well as many other things (lumbering, status effects, perhaps some basic automation functionality etc.). We plan on doing updates to the world, but are currently working on some separate projects, because after the stress in February we got a bit burned out from farming game. We'll definitely release updates eventually though! There are too many ideas lingering in our heads not to.
@@JackTheFoxOtter I look forward to it. Been playing around with it, found the Dev button lol Lots of behind the scenes code to engage my brain. So far it works really nicely and runs smooth. I wonder how much the Resonite system can handle
Resonite is beautiful but can feel kinda overwhelming for people who don’t know much tech or aren’t interested in MAKING things. This video does a REALLY good job of showing how even if you’re not actively creating things there’s still a ton of fun things to do for the more casual audience!
Hi, I used to stream using the twitch commands and can say that they have been my most interactive and engaging streams to date. (Last I heard the nodes are almost all broke atm but I fully plan on doing more with Resonite in the future if/when those nodes are fixed. Fingers crossed.) The possibilities are endless, and I also share the opinion that content creators are sleeping on this as a great tool to make higher quality content. Glad to see people being sponsored to talk about this stuff, good stuff!
Hey thanks for making a video on Resonite! My crew at Contacts Plus host a podcast every Saturday within Resonite with a live audience! If you find yourself within Resonite again and want to be a part of the show stop by and say hi!
I haven't really kept up with the development of Resonite but I think it's cool that it gives content creators a new online space to explore. Or just anybody online who's curious.
Collaborative content creation was one of the things I was most scared we were going to lose as Second Life got older and older with no one really doing the same thing. It's one of those things that you don't realise just how rare, but important, it is until you experience it. Genuinely so happy to see Resonite has picked up the mantle and carried it forwards. NeosVR was a contender, but we all know how much a mess that was.
As someone who migrated over from Second Life myself, I fully agree! It's the same creative spirit, but it gets much less in your way with limitations. Also land is free! :D
Thank you so much for showcasing Resonite! Theres a LOT of potential for the platform and just talking about it and showing others whats possible, helps so much! 💙
I think I might buy a headset to build something like anime weapons or tools... I love creating... (And your fantastic video, of course!...👍) Thanks for the recommendation, i think I might like it...
That was pretty cool! Definitely glad to see this platform continue to grow and develop. It's such a neat project. I'm still mildly intimidated by thought of coding things in here (as a non-developer), but it's neat that it exists.
I'd be up for joining that trip if timing works out! I've only had a brief time in, but it was rather neat - especially the ability to bring stuff (games, fidget toys, etc) wherever, rather than needing specific worlds. (I had set Resonite aside until I fixed the broken trigger button in my Vive Wand, then simply hadn't gotten back to it for lack of time.)
A buddy of mine does a weekly set in Resonite for our small group, the scene is still developing but the potential is huge. The biggest problem is player count in instances - typically, Resonite worlds will functionally cap around 20 players before it starts getting unstable. Still, if you're okay with the smaller numbers or spreading across a few instances, I've had a lot of fun watching my friends do some DJ'ing in it :)
@@Nerdosaur nice to know. thats what I do in VRChat dance and attend events. But used to 80 ppl sometimes, got good GPU but will resonite get more players in instantces, since 20 ppl can't "compete" with VRChat scene.. P.S Im not looking for a new home, just more homes or a "cabin"
As soon as I heard of Resonite, I immediately went to support them in patreon. While I didn't get on enough. This video got to motivate me to try again on creating and interacting with people :) I'm way too shy xD
I think whoever came with the idea to host jams inside of Resonite should get a raise! It is a brilliant way to showcase what can be done while also building a comunity and ending with a bunch of cool new world and projects. the more i see about Resonite the more i want to jump in a check it out
Still Too complex for entry level, i love it but its way to hard for people that are not tech oriented, in VR the resolution and FX like ambien oclusion are imposible to adjust, you need a MOD for that, i dont know what happen from neos to Resonite, but the dynamic resolution used makes my eyes hurt very much to the point of crying, sadly i had to stop playing because of all of this, i do want to be better than vrchat, but they just dont get it that its too exclusive, it should have a "Noob mode" and a the normal "advanced" mode
Within the recent full rework to the settings menu, its been organized into categories so their not all shoved in one place and now easy to find and implement new ones, ua-cam.com/video/srpmkuV0s_g/v-deo.html (froox devlog released recently showcasing even more graphical adjustments) More updates adding more settings are in the works.
@@WampertGraphics settings, including ability to adjust AO, were added like, last week. The game is in very active development and the settings system was just reworked, event more settings will be added in the coming days!
Being a PC only platform with a very limited audience and a uncertain future, I think it will be very difficult for Resonite. As a developer, spending so much time into a platform, this uncertainty makes it a really difficult to decision to start there as it can all be gone instantly. In other platforms that is using a Unity-uplaoder, I still have all my assets even if a platform shuts down, so months of work into a world is not gone. Any good platform needs some ind of hybrid sytem between unity and an ingame building system. I dont think there is one right now and until this doesnt happen I rather stick to the classic Unity upload system (That also allows for a lot more optimisations, especially for the weaker quest devices.)
Major optimizations for Resonite is the next major development priority. There's some big things planned that when implemented will likely improve performance a lot, but we'll have to see by how much to judge if standalone (Quest) support becomes feasible afterwards. I'm optimistic that we'll get there. Some of those are restructuring the engine to a process-based architecture, which will enable switching to newer .Net runtime for most of it, as well as the new rendering engine that will completely replace Unity once it's mature enough. In regards to being locked into a platform, I understand your concerns. Resonite already allows you to export objects and worlds as various 3D model formats, for example FBX, GLTF or BLEND files, but those come without any mapping of logic. ProtoFlux currently doesn't exist outside of Resonite, so custom code is hard to transfer. You can now also export complex objects / avatars as a ResonitePackage format, which contains all assets within, and even though currently Resonite is the only application being able to read it, but in time (or in the event of a catastrophic issue), someone of the community will surely make a tool to extract the assets from them directly (they are just ZIP files with the assets and JSON files inside). There's a couple of large features in the future that will help with that though. Notably there is the planned option to create logic / scripts using WASM, which if you end up going that route would make your code much more portable and give you the option to migrate it to another engine if you have to. There's also a planned Unity SDK which would allow importing / exporting from / to Unity directly, and since it would be an entire SDK, also allow mapping custom logic and functionality between the two to an extend. I suggest upvoting the issues if you think they would benefit you on Resonite's Discord, to let the developers know those are things you value. That said though, depending on your workflow, you might not be super locked in to begin with. Personally I've always made individual assets and materials outside of Resonite using the likes of Blender, Substance Painter and Co, so having access to those files already makes them platform independant. Even if I make something like a procedural texture in-game I can easily export it as a png. And I'm also not too concerned that Resonite is going to disappear overnight. The developers are very transparent about their business, long-term goals and challenges, for example they've publicly announced their first financial report of Q1 2024 in a the monthly recap livestream on March (it's also in text form on Resonite's wiki now!), and they do work closely with the community to figure out what to focus on next based on majority request.
you know the resonite people are real ones when they sponsor a video and let you bring up UI in the first 30 seconds

there's a group called tracker settings with a toggle for using trackers
I am actually surprised my old world jumper item was featured for half a second (and that was one of my first and small projects on there), but that made me happy XD very good video. Looking forward to maybe seeing you on Resonite more often as well :3
Fits well on the wrist.
Im cracking up over the fact that a small team of passionate people yet again beat the full force of the Facebook company to it again xD
Good to see more coverage on Resonite, glad some of the issues I didn’t really mention are already being addressed (mainly the UI, lol) and can’t wait to see what else they’re cooking up by the time I come back to see what else I missed!
You make this sound like it's VRChat but more DIY friendly. I'm intrigued.
Awesome video! you can do really a lot on Resonite and it has been a big change for me in life :3, Building, making new friends, learning new things, making video's, making events... you can do so much and it only keeps on growing!
I might have to check this out when I can get a better headset than quest 2. I forgot my pass code, now I can't download stuff :/
6:54 bluberry gonna commit some crimes
ayo! that's my navmesh system in the video! great video btw :D
broo they made NeosVR but without the NFTs. hell yes. i'll give it a drop by, but still probably won't switch fully to it yet

Finally, a Dislyte avatar in a vr game.
Resonite definitely has much of the same magic that made me originally invested in Second Life, so chances are if you're a SL veteran you'll probably enjoy it (also land is free*!)
My suggestion would be to organize a little Resonite tour with some of your friends if you can.
Question: is the UI better than Neos? Neos’ UI was extremely not user friendly and why I couldn’t get into it
It's similar but on the path to improvement. They still need to re-do a few things. The new UI framework just was added, and you can see the settings have been completely redone.
It's getting better, the settings UI was just overhauled (you can adjust graphics now too!)
Some of the biggest hurdles for any new social VR platform will likely be overcomming the network effect advantage that VRchat has along with all of the sunk costs that people have in VRchat.
IM Super EXCITED FOR THIS!!
rec room mixed with vr chat
Me gustó bastante Resonite. Ahora estoy comenzando a crear contenido de Resonite en español 😎
I'd love to have a hoverboard with my Bat Fursona Sonar ^^
This is cool
that got me realy interested in resonite i just downloaded it and i wonder i will learn
I haven’t watched to far but this seems so much like Ready player 1
btw you can now disable motion blur, for all the desktop players
Fun fact: There was a mod to do this before, and I witnessed the author celebrate deleting the mod’s code when it was added as an official option.
Now thats insane
ok im paying a visit to ironworks
now imagine how a 1400's peasant would respond to this.
Big thing I hope to download when I buy a vr ready pc
just saying you can play it in desktop mode still a wonderful experience
Now I wish I had a VR headset. 😅
Sing all this makes me want to actually get a VR compatible computer and headset
Now looking closely I think we actually have the real world version of The Oasis here
Heck yeah
i am still just waiting for faster interent, time, and a better videocard worth getting >w
Bro Resonite is just a way better and more collaborative version of VR Chat
this looks so fun i wanna try it asap
man all this shit looks incredible but i can't take time out of my day to put a ton of effort into making my shit. feelsbadman
so... VR GMOD?
This is the best game I’ve ever seen and I can’t play it 😢
Dont worry even people who could are not playing it. It has a playerbase of under 200 people
I downloaded Resonite when I saw your first video on it, but it didn't worked for me (the interface is invisible, and that's if I'm lucky, and the stars are correctly animated, because it's often worse)
I tried from time to time, and again today, and it still the same :/
I couldn't find a way to contact the dev or make a bug report either :/
It's sad because it looks promising
Please check into the Resonite Discord
@@TahvoStudio Thanks, I joined the discord, but I found someone with a solution online, he says I should download a lib to add to resonite, and it'll work, I did and it finally worked (at least in desktop mode, only have to try with the headset, but I'll try that later ^^')
IMA need this soon
It’s free if you have Steam/PC
It shall be gotten
i cant play this because i dropped my steam index in my harbor freight bucket of insulating spray foam and now it's all foamy
Can I get a compare and contrast with NeosVR?
The main thing is NeosVR is no longer getting updates.
But some as a feature comparison, here's some things Resonite has that NeosVR does not.
Graphics Settings, Earmuff mode, Native OSC support, Full Settings re-work (plus a bunch of new settings), updates to the UI style and look overall. Linear color gammet, and more!
Are there chatgpt ai npc avatars?
Get me a tutorial, that'll let a dumb dumb like me be able to upload my avatars, an I'll hop in
There are some up on UA-cam already
I just want a standard slow paced first person shooter. I hate the jump fly stuff because it makes me wanna barf
I hoped for it on vrchat but they always add flying and high jumps
Will resonite ever come to quest?
It's planned, but it won't come until all of unity is ripped out and replaced with their in-house render engine, Sauce.
So it's Second Life in VR.
The parallels are definitely there. It has similar features to the good stuff SL has, but without a bunch of the bad stuff SL has. Has basically replaced Second Life for me, that's for sure.
Can you upload your VRC avatar to resonite?
You can use the same 3D model
@@TahvoStudio could the function and effect can also be upload to resonite?
@@lizadonrex yes depending on the functionality but it would have to be completely recreated from the ground up this men's things like toggles and other effects including gestures which are possible
@@epiceaston197 thanks for the info, I wonder if any sdk were available to help upload to resonite.
@@lizadonrex not currently, Resonite doesn't need an SDK for you to make content. The thing is, you will definitely be able to find someone to help you get your avatar up and running if you have the files, I suggest just asking on the Discord for someone to meet you in-game. Resonite's collaborative nature allows other people to help you out in real time!
Will this ever be on quest?
That's the long-term goal, but it won't happen until the render engine is swapped out.
is this... not neos? even the cursor ping is the same. What am i looking at here?
It is being developed by some people who used to work on neos
If only there's vr theaters then I'll get a VR Headset and play Resonite. Till then I don't really see anything fun about Resonite
You can play videos in game! They spawn like items.
Vr theaters are definitely a thing, I have movie nights with some of my friends every week in a custom-made theater. There was one that was running 24/7 that used to run movies like a cinema (not sure if it's still running tho)
when i'm not having my life stolen away by my demanding af job i hope to contribute, even if it's just blender models.
did i just find garry's mod but vr?
Gary's mod pales in comparison. But in the sense people make their own contraptions and worlds it is yeah 🙂
Recroom players 🗿1:46
do you need a VR to play this?
No
@@TahvoStudio I heard it also runs on ancient potato so is a mini PC good enough? I plan on play it's with a Intel Celeron N 5095A 16 GB ram 1 TB SSD using integrated graphics is this good enough? oh yeah and my TV is only capable of 720P does it allow low resolution as well I'm poor
@@brandongovreau9218 it won't run on such poor hardware :( you need a better pc than that to play this
Uh oh someone is a vfur supporter
I wish i wanna join vfur😢
Sooooo........ VRChat 2
I wonder how much the Resonite system can handle
cute
no cute avatarts :(

Glad people understand that.
@@JackTheFoxOtter Not having to pay 300usd a month for a sim, sign me the hell up.
Thank you so much for showcasing Resonite! Theres a LOT of potential for the platform and just talking about it and showing others whats possible, helps so much! 💙
My pleasure!
Это лучше Vrchat, как мне кажется
I think I might buy a headset to build something like anime weapons or tools... I love creating... (And your fantastic video, of course!...👍) Thanks for the recommendation, i think I might like it...
That was pretty cool! Definitely glad to see this platform continue to grow and develop. It's such a neat project. I'm still mildly intimidated by thought of coding things in here (as a non-developer), but it's neat that it exists.
Ferb, I know what we're gonna do today!
Damn I love your videos Tahvo, this one was a really interesting watch, may be something we'll have to check out as a group sometime!
As a SlimeVR dancer in VRChat, is there any future vrdj scene here? Nightclubs , events or so on?
Check out the Rave Cave world. Not sure about events, maybe look into the discord?
@@TahvoStudio Thanks will take a look ^^
I've seen a few rave events, such as the weekly dance event on Mondays
As soon as I heard of Resonite, I immediately went to support them in patreon. While I didn't get on enough. This video got to motivate me to try again on creating and interacting with people :) I'm way too shy xD
This is kind of thing that makes me want to get into vr. It looks so neat.
"passionate community of creators" aka a couple of washed up furries from neos who got rugged by their almighty founder
The moment resonate gets better performance than VRChat, Resonate will become the better game
I think whoever came with the idea to host jams inside of Resonite should get a raise! It is a brilliant way to showcase what can be done while also building a comunity and ending with a bunch of cool new world and projects.
the more i see about Resonite the more i want to jump in a check it out
this reminds me of early second life. i imagine it wil lgo the same
What a great summary!
Alright, I checked it out six months ago and it's come a LONG way it seems. I'll be hopping back in to learn!
Yeah, I doubt you’ll ever see it come to quest users.
They need to bring this to the quest 3!!!
They have added graphics settings so you don't need mods for that anymore
@@Nytra_ when? because last time i try it was still hard to configure
Wow this is great!!
