My opinion to whoever decides to buy S350,500,600 W221 from now onwards. No matter how cheaply or well you purchase W221 be prepared and happy to treat it as a yacht. Typical works that pops your way (but not limited to) are: Air struts air suspension changes, changing box that is attached to transmission changing gears, intage manifold change, parking break. You need to be rich enough not for purchase of the car but rich enough to spend during ownership while still enjoying it. Then happy S Class driving days.
Great review of an amazing car! I love this model so much that I currently own two W221’s, an S65 AMG ( prefacelift ) and an S63 AMG ( facelift ) with the V8 BiTurbo engine, Performance pack. I remember seeing the car being for sale on mbclub and thought the price was great. This one seems to be well looked after and low miles too. Keep up the great work
Thanks Sam 🙏 awesome cars you have.... I've seen them on the forum 🙂 I have the E63 with the same engine and love it! I also have a W220 S600 (V12 BiTurbo) but that's a different story... Video coming soon! That's the one, well remembered!
@@Rich_Runs_Cars Thank you! Oh, I do love an E class, especially the ones with M157 engine. Looking forward to the video of the S600, they are amazing cars. 😊✋🏻
W221 is arguably in my opinion last S class that has greatness in it. Some would say W222 but 222 starts having elements of saying good bye to boomers/Xgeneration and transitioning to younger that likes swipe sreens and lights and electronics. I have no idea what I am going to do once my W221 2012 model comes to the end. I highly dislike new cars where you feel like entering shop selling TV's where static energy just . . . you feel it.
@@UncleSarkis Can not help you here as my is S350 that has not turbo's. But I can say that there will be something to fix. In my case I had issue with transition box that is attached tyo gear boxoutside - shifting and manifold intake has tendency to break leaver/arm. Once you hit 110k km air suspension might be time to keep eye. It's just a nature of the S-Class. These cars are like yachts. You love them and you "happy" to spend
@@petkuscinta9797 here in the US they offered it only in the biturbo for that year. Thanks for your input. I'm not worried about air suspension since I can fix that myself and not pay a mechanic to take out an engine. These cars are absolutely beautiful!
What people need to work out is Mercedes No Longer makes Solid State cars, they are now throw away cars that are extremely expensive to keep on the road when out of warranty. Buy a Lexus. Huge problems with suspension and Electronics and engines and transmissions are unreliable after only 100K miles.
Well did you sell your S500.? Given your review, off a car owen, you clearly have no idea on what you’re selling.! Stick to something you do know about
Hi Paul, thanks for watching, and for the feedback. Yes, I sold the S500, but still have my S600 which I'll do a video on. I owned and used the car for a year, so thought I knew it reasonably well. However, my review was merely from an owner/enthusiast perspective, and I certainly don't claim to be an expert. What aspects made you think I had little knowledge of the car? I try to buy cars I will enjoy owning; that's really my sole selection criterion.
@@Rich_Runs_Cars Rich Hi, I feel I owe you apology, as my response on your Mercedes review, was unnecessary harsh. I don’t need to tell you how hard UA-cam is. I own a 2007 S500L 5.5 W221, which Jack, Number 27 reviewed earlier this year. Could I stand up, and offer myself up for criticism, short answer, no, hell no. Please don’t stop posting, Matt Armstrong needs some competition 👍
@@paulstansfield8693 No apology necessary, and no offence taken. But I appreciate the apology nonetheless - thank you. Ah, I shall check that video out, I've not see it! Thanks - I'm obviously very new, but hopefully the videos improve; watch out Matt 🙂

Yeah I love the M157, great engine.... I know many prefer the M156, but I generally prefer forced induction in bigger cars....
S65 is epic though! 🙂
I will always love an s class regardless of the generation
Great review thx.
Thank you 🙏

Any issues with the biturbo? I can't find much 10s and 11s, but plenty of 12s and 13s and the turbos scare me. I don't want to have massive problems.

Audio a bit ordinary
Thanks for the feedback. Agree it's not optimal... I upgraded my mic after this video.

Not a fair review at all.
