I was a mgb mechanic in England can't wait to see how it turns out compared to a 3.5 liter Buick engine . Subscribed straight away .

Welcome, British Automotive Engineering is quite impressive in the MG. It has kicked my butt many many times. They said it can't be done but I did. A GM 4L60e automatic behind a 5.3 V8. The Summit Racing mock up block weighs in at 35 pounds. Trust me it has been in and out many times. The driveshaft was as big as the tunnel so I had to go to steel. I am in the process of making motor mounts.

There is a site called Upgrading MGs, we are a bunch of MG people sharing information on our cars. No negative comments, no cussing and Barry keeps it as a positive place to ask questions and show pics of our cars. To have a former MG mechanic it would be great to have someone with your knowledge.

I’m from England and have owned a fair few of these, but I also know about Summit Racing. Can’t wait to see this finished. Are you planning on doing any strengthening?

welcome. There are a lot of builds going without any additional support upgrades. I have a lot of modifications to increase the uni-body overall strength. The LS 5.3 sits low enough that custom one off motor mounts had to be designed to work in 1 7/8 of an inch between the block and uni-body. I have to say it has been a challenge so far. !

Yes and for everything removed has to be welded back in along with extra supports. The sheet metal going back in is thicker. The round tube to make section panels is 3/16th. All the metal is getting upgraded. I soon get the pleasure of cleaning the under car cuts to remove the old undercoating. Then inside with a fiber wheel to clean for welding. My welder will tack from the inside and then weld from under the car. Then we will return to weld the inside key stress areas.
