    Update: I took Nikash to see his doc right after this and she had me start giving him Vitamin D (since we stopped milk) and he started speech therapy to help him speak a little more. 👍

      My niece also had same problem of not being able to speak early. She went to speech therapist and she was ok. She started daycare around 2 or 2.5 years and she is able to speak English and urdu now wonderfully. Just give it time and keep speaking to him.

      Hi Susan, the key to help baby speak early is to talk to him more and more. The more you will communicate with him, the more words and sentence he will grab. Then eventually he will try to use them. My daughter has just turned 2 this month, but she communicates very well and also tries to form new sentences and asks us so many questions 😝

    He is so cute!!! My brother had some speech issues when he was tiny and now he is on the radio. Nikash will be a chatterbox very soon!
    As a child, my parents would talk to me in English and yell at me in Urdu (it was a warning signal). I then started French at age 4, and my mom told me that I was never impeded in my development. Learning multiple languages is great! Bravo on you to raise little Nikash as a bilingual person:) hopefully he will become a polyglot! I speak 7 languages now and it is handy.

    I love this! I have a boy that’s about a month younger than Nikash, and i feel like I’ve got a companion on this journey. My son is in a 3 language household, and his language development just recently exploded, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the same thing happens to you in the near future. On the flip side, my son is sooooo far from ready for a big boy bed lol. They all have their own timing and it’s so amazing to see. Happy belated birthday to Nikash! He’s such a handsome, smart little man!

    My son is turning 1 in March and I’m so excited for his birthday party. I know he won’t understand and probably won’t enjoy much as he has stranger anxiety but I wannna celebrate and I know he would love to see photos and videos when he will be older.

    I'm so happy you commented in speech. I feel like I hear about everyone's kids saying all these words and my daughter isn't quite there yet but she understands so much and follows instructions so well. She's also (somewhat) learning 2 languages. She sees my in-laws quite a bit and they only speak Portuguese to her. She's 16 months.

    I'm also raising my daughter to be bilingual (Mandarin and English) and she's in speech therapy through Early Intervention. My daughter is about 2 months older than Nikash and she's finally saying words that I can actually understand! I would definitely love to see more videos about how Nikash's speech progress, it'll give me some confidence and encouragement! My daughter loves to dance too lol She even dances for any commercial songs lol

    Thank you for the video. I have 15month old son and I’ve learned a lot from you. I work full time as well as my husband during the week. Do you have any tips to share in terms of making quick dinner meals during the week? If you can at some point film a video about toddler meals that would be great. What types of meals do you feed your son during the week especially when you only have 30min before bath and bed time?
    Side note: I’m loving your skincare tips and routine. I’m 35, and still trying to figure it out my routine especially after having a baby.
    Best,
    Jovanna

    • @SusanYara
      @SusanYara  5 років тому +1

      Jovanna Pinto Hi! One of the best things was using a meal kit service. I tried a few and tend to go back to Home Chef because the meals are really straightforward to make (like 20-30 mins) and actually taste good. I’ve also found that the two-person meal is plenty for all three of us. I only get that twice a week at most. On other days, I have easy stuff ready to go like spaghetti and ground meat with an easy homemade pasta sauce. Takes 20 mins! I’ll try to put a video together!

    Thank you so much for sharing this update about Nikash! I have a 15m old and can relate to some of the characteristics and behaviors you've shared about your little one. It is always nice to be reminded that many things are "just a phase" and other things are signs of the person they will always be.

    Nikash is adorable. Birthdays are definitely important . They celebrate the persons life and it’s a wonderful time to spend time with family and friends. Milestones for us are completing second semester of college and finishing 9th grade strong as far as grades go lol. My girls are getting older and letting go more and it’s hard. I cried most of last year. Empty nest clock feels like it’s ticking over my head. So we keep trying to spend as much time as they will spend with us in between school and jobs and phones and boyfriends. 🤪😊love the Spanish muy bien!!

    Great video! Since our kids were born at pretty much the same time it's always extra interesting to see Nikash updates!
    And REALLY don't worry about the talking - he definitely will get there! My first was really late talking (although just like Nikash he understood everything that we said) and suddenly when he was about two and a half it was just like a dam broke and words came like a flood. He is also bilingual, even though both my husband and I are native Swedish speakers we spoke a lot of English at home, and he now (5 years old) understands everything we say in both languages, and speaks Swedish VERY well. English he isn't as comfortable speaking, but he'll learn, and just the fact that he understands it is amazing to me because that's not common at all here. I haven't been as good at talking English regularly around my 2-year-old so we'll see how he does. :)

      nykka3 we just had small parties at the house or even like ChikfilA or the park with cake and ice cream and the kids just played for 2 hours and called it a day. I have a healthy mother-in-law who didn’t want my daughter to have cake and my dad on the other side going give her cake!! Lol it was hilarious to me but not to them at the time. 🥳

    I am a mom of a 5 months old blubberboy and we speak to him in 4 different languages- Arabic from his dad (hubby)? English Hindi from me and Konkani from my parents. I’m Curious to see which language Mikael will pick up first 😃

    Wow same here after 1 my son got very picky!!!! And the doc said he needed to gain weight bc he too were skinny and still is. My lo is on a perscription toddler formula and it helps but we still have work to do! Wow we share a lot in common..everything you have said is what we are experiencing!! 🖤🖤 the bed transitioning and allll...my son will also stay up alllll night watching elmo 😂😂😂Thanks for sharing!
    Omg we can not have all this in common!!! The trucks and cars!! The car rides...he cries to get in the car im sure so he can go to sleep 😂😂😂
    I'm also thinking of starting my lo in school for maybe 4hrs a day 4 days a week..it will be great interaction with the other kiddos!! And learning 🖤 this brings about lotsss of anxiety! 😢😢 im going to be sad but its going to be good for him.

    Definitely be calm about the speech:) My 22 month old daughter is super chatty and I couldn't even tell you how many words she knows at this point. HOWEVER her older brother at this point only had a small handful of words. He is turning 5 the same week she turns 2 and he talks our ears off now. You'd have had no idea he took longer to talk. Just give it some time. Kids all develop at different paces. Odds are, he will be behind in some areas and ahead in others :)

    Boys are the best! I really wanted a girl when I found out I was pregnant but I’m so glad I have a boy, all my friends have girls and they’re so temperamental haha. My son is incredibly easy going and is just always up for anything plus he’s such a mamas boy. Mine didn’t have a lot of words at 2 either but by 3 he was speaking in full sentences and at 4 he’s just like all the older kids in his class speech wise. Don’t worry about it, it will balance out. And just watch, 2 and 3 is such a fun age.

      Normally when kids learn multiple languages they take a little longer to start really speaking. My cousins son was learning Arabic, English, and French. He didn’t start truly speaking until about a month ago. He’s 2 and 3/4 years old. It’s nothing to worry about.

  • @talli8cakes
    @talli8cakes 5 років тому +6

    The whole not speaking thing is so alien to me. Both mine were very early talkers.....my 1 year old strings sentences and communicates everything she wants....same as my 4 year old did. We have friends who are learning English, Spanish and French in a household.....he only started talking when he hit 4 years old. They all generally even out by the time they go to school anyway, so try not to worry too much....easier said than done.
    No hate in this comment at all....different kids....all unique....all brilliant!

  • @You.Tube.Sucks.
    @You.Tube.Sucks. 5 років тому

    Have people noticed that UA-cam has disabled the comment section for most videos that feature children? Regarding my own subscriptions, Susan's channel seems to be one of the only ones where people can still comment. I wonder how others feel about this...? I guess Susan lucked out. There doesn't seem to be any pattern other than if there is a child, no comments are allowed. I haven't figured out why some channels are exempt. Maybe because Susan also talks about makeup and what not. 🤔

    • @SusanYara
      @SusanYara  5 років тому +1

    • @You.Tube.Sucks.
      @You.Tube.Sucks. 5 років тому

      @@SusanYara 😳😳😳 which is wonderful & *much* appreciated! I wish that it were as simple as allowing people who closely monitor their comments to have comment sections, but I don't think that's the reason. Other baby channels I follow also monitor comments closely. Plus, millions of channels were affected. I don't think UA-cam engineers have the time to manually evaluate each channel -- and I doubt their algorithms are that fancy -- but perhaps I'm wrong. I just feel bad for the people who, like you, diligently monitor their channels yet have lost their comment sections containing hundreds and thousands of positive comments. I'm just bummed because, as we all know, many viewers -- especially on baby videos -- leave really helpful additional tips!
      Anyway, I'll stop rambling. Sorry to take up space on this video. There aren't very many places left to talk! Love, love, love your channel & FAM, Susan! 😍
