You do a great job. Your honesty about Lake Tahoe in this video was very informative. I live for winter and snowplay - so I enjoyed the perspective. You are a very good story teller.
Over the years, there wasn't hardly any snow until January. If I was still a skier, I wish I was, I would be loving the conditions now. I almost moved to SLT when it was affordable, but now, since the last 2 years in Reno and Tahoe, there is no way I could. :( Thanks for your lovely photos and videos 💙
I’m moving to South Lake Tahoe soon and your point about jumping good rental deals is spot-on. Trying to find a good place was super stressful. I’m also moving solo from the Midwest and am a bit nervous about the feeling of isolation since I don’t know anyone there. I appreciate the tips on that topic!
Hi Matt!! Im so glad the video was helpful to you, i understand feeling nervous, it took me a bit of time to meet people but living in such a beautiful place and always having something outdoorsy to do made up for it 💙💙
Heavy snow is much more tolerable when you have a garage for your car... :) And Lynn probs doesn't have to deal with 6 feet of snow in a night! Overall, good list. These are the downsides to living here.
Thank You for the interesting video. I believe every place has its good thing, and bad side, is up to you how you Heart feels about a place. What you described it's pretty much Australia, adding the regular overwhelming floodings. So in summer time here you have fires, and as of now (summer time here in Australia, tropic of Capricorn) the weather feels like if you are in a pressure cooker! UV rays ☀️ are pretty intense here. Winter time Lots of rain and flooding. Despite the downturns you choose a beautiful place to live! Not many people have this privilege in their lifetime. Enjoy!
Snow is a bit of work, but the backcountry snowboarding and snowmobiling is next level. Worth it if you look at it as fun. I'm used to Mammoth, so Tahoe is relatively tame, even at it's worst. For fires, that is California as a whole, not just Tahoe. I've had 3 homes burn down in So Cal. Tahoe prices are like Mammoth. You pay a premium for the beauty, just like Park City, Vail, etc. For dry air, again, that is basically 99% of Calif and high desert. But, it is not buggy, muggy, or sticky. For UV rays, standard for California and desert, especially high desert and high elevation. Mammoth is worse. If you knew how many mega rich people are around Tahoe(mostly the Nevada side), it's for the same reason you mention. Not far from the Bay area, and with Reno-Tahoe so close, it is easy to travel or just go to the malls and shopping.. Something Mammoth doesn't have, although Mammoth airport has good flight access to most major hubs. All in all, it is pretty hard to beat the area. I mean, you can surf the ocean, snowboard, wakeboard, dirt bike, snowmobile in shorts and a tanktop all on July 4th in the Sierras. Some years 365 days. Where else can you do that?
100 percent! the beauty and outdoor adventure makes its worth it..i think the snow this year is a bit overwhelming for someone who isnt used to it..either way i'm still here 😀😀
Great video. Lots of insight that is welcomed. I don't know why but I applied for a ton of jobs and only had a few bites. Also the smoke thing has been bad everytime i visited. Elevation and smoke...woof. Still a beautiful place though. Better than my spot in Cali.
Slightly off topic but I bought one of the best vehicles I've owned in S. Lake Tahoe. It was actually in Meyers and I got a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer V8 (Ford Explorer twin) back in late 2009. Got me through three tough Tahoe winters without problems and hardly cost me anything except gas. Sold it for barely less than I paid for it.
that sounds like hard core car lol...so far the tiguan is doing pretty good in the snow with the new tires..im just glad to have 4wd this winter otherwise id have major anxiety 🤣
Do you know why it’s so dry there? There’s a big lake with water? Is it the altitude that makes it dry? What about neighboring cities? Are they dry too? Does a humidifier help a bit?
I am not sure really, i know that Nevada is the driest state in the US, and even though it doesn't look like a desert I believe Tahoe is technically high desert. I think that's what i read anyway 😂😂😂....i have used a humidifier, and i really don't think they make a noticeable difference in my experience.
LakeTahoe is my favorite place on earth. I try to go every October to hike. Always looking for good Airbnb’s with lake views. Any you can recommend. We’re hoping to move there.
So i have never used airbnb in Tahoe, i usually just look for places on hotel sites...but check out my video on living in lake tahoe pros and cons it might help as well: ua-cam.com/video/f4zHXiwQkyI/v-deo.html

i think if you live in this area you have to have a snow-based sport of some sort or it going to be pretty irritating...ski/snowboard/snowshoe/cross country...snowmobile....something.
that is true, i moved here for photography and it keeps me pretty inspired, but yeah i think being a skiier or snowboarder would help..i think i might try skiiing again this year though so well see 😄
All of your points are spot on. Also, I live down in Sacramento, two hours west of Tahoe and I totally agree with your last point of feeling isolated; if I lived up there I’d feel the same.
@@GabriellaViola Locals call it "Income Village" for a reason! I did 46 years in Tahoe beginning in 1972, brand new, furnished appartment off of "D" St., including utilities was $175/mo!

lmk if you know anywhere to live and housing , i had to leave aafter covid that place was crazy. One thing i think is top importance you missed , is the immigration and crime. it was on a rise of 60% and i was close with sheriffs department they said 70% of nevadas human tafficking goes through north lake. the community atmosphere left that place around 2018
You really have a very authentic approach. I do a lot of videos for clients in my company and I like your creative approach.

Thanks for posting this. Your insights on the downside are most invaluable and much appreciated! I hope everything works well for you! :)
Thank you so much Alexei im glad the video was helpful!
Thanks for the info! Been considering leaving Palm Springs for Lake Tahoe. From one resort city to another. lol
haha yes that is true...its certainly a beautiful place but lots of summer tourists
Those houses you showed are Gorgeous wow

Would you make us a snow man, please? You seen pretty happy. Good luck!
I think I can arrange that! ☃️

Love the Tahoe bubble 😊have you tried skate skiing it’s a great work out since you like the outdoors
no where can i do that?
Do a Google search for skate skiing in south shore. I’m on the N shore so I don’t know the areas down there.
Check out kirkwood cross country center. Also sorensens resort in hope valley. Take a lesson as well so you get a good 1st experience 👊

why do they call it tourist season and call the cops when you shoot at one?
That's crazy how buried your car got. Here comes round 3 or 4 of storms. It went through here last night with 8 hours of heavy rain.
hopefully we are in the clear for a little bit this week right? 😣
@@GabriellaViola Yeah, there is a storm Weds. night/Thursday, but after that a Clear and Cold pattern.

Thank you Gabriella Viola for the truth about living in Lake Tahoe.
I lived in Tahoe for a while she is not lying lol , I still visit but yea I can’t go back to live there
exactly, for me the beauty is still outweighing the cons but def have those moments
I’m from Florida, so idk if I could handle the dry air-& it makes you age majorly. It is beautiful there, but idk about living there.
All of your points are spot on. Also, I live down in Sacramento, two hours west of Tahoe and I totally agree with your last point of feeling isolated; if I lived up there I’d feel the same.
I love Lake Tahoe! Currently live in the SF / Bay Area but would love to live in Sac to be that much closer to Tahoe!
Thank you so much KB! its gotten better but i do have my days where i feel like everyone i know is somewhere else 😂
...and the fact that people come and stay there only for one season, so it's hard for finding friendship.
that is very true..its a very transient place
While I have not experienced all of these, several are spot on!! None of which were sufficient to keep you in Carson. 😂
haha you know i moved out of carson right 🤣...wouldnt mind living there right now though they get less snow 💙
@@GabriellaViola I just don’t get the sense you are a Carson women so glad you moved back to the Lake. NY or LA for sure; Carson not so much.
sore throat every morning kinda dry
so true...dry sinuses every morning
