The CFL was criticized heavily in 2010 for choosing such a vintage act for the GC halftime show. All I know is that those of us who were there loved every second of it.
I have seen his voice described as "gargling with Drano"!!!! I seriously remember this vividly, because watching the game, then all of a sudden it was 1973 all over again! Yup. Only in Canada do the greats play OUTSIDE at BELOW ZERO! Caught Justin Bieber a few years later ... just sad ... sad ...
These songs are CLASSIC and could be released as new today and be hits..."Not Fragile" is still one of my all-time favourite records and I still play the original Vinyl edition any time I really want to go back in time to my troubled but musically amazing youth...!
Hey NFL Halftime Show selection committee! THIS is what a halftime show should be! Rockin' good music by talented, legendary performers. BTO should be in the USA Rock Hall of Fame!! Or at least Randy Bachman for his work with BTO and before that Guess Who.
Saw these guys last night at the NAC in Ottawa. Both Bachman and Turner are 68 years old but they can still blow the fuc... roof off the house! Awesome rockers.
I was there that night in Edmonton and it was really really cold. Randy Bachman and Fred Turner played well in really tough brutally cold weather. One of the more colder Grey Cups unlike this year's Toronto which was almost like being indoors it was that cozy. Go Bachman Turner Overdrive!
Live in west Michigan use to visit my dad in Pierson my friends and I would drive over to the lake where we could pick up wls in Chicago on am radio yes that long ago it was the first time I heard bto and I have been a fan ever since great highway music
Bachman-Turner turned loose a medley of songs that included “Roll On Down The Highway”, “You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet”, “Let It Ride”, “Slave To The Rhythm” (during which a dance team took the field), and “Takin’ Care Of Business”. I wish Bachman-Turner hadn’t retired. We have our own Super Bowl 57 and for the halftime show, we are stuck with---Beyoncé.
These guys really sh!t all over the BEP at last weekend's Superbowl. Classic rock all the way. So much better than the crap the kids listen to these days.
This was like witnessing a reuniting of Black Sabbath or even KISS for me! It totally rocked. BTO is sooooo underrated in America. And in the beloved North they are like Queen in that they are played at virtually everty sporting event . This was just amazing to have been able to witness!
K so I was one of the dancers and practicing with them (the tuesday before) was FREEZING (typical Edmonton.) at -29 C but they were sooo much fun. Best experience of my life. PS. All the dancers r from dance studios around Edmonton and are 16 & under! Loved every second of it
BTO blew in hot wired like a blizzard into the USA and took over. Yeahhh...Sure made real rock n roll a come back. I was 31 years old when they blew a big hole in the whiny and disco music back in the states. They were a breath of fresh air. I'm 77 now and still dig there rock n roll band.
Wow, that is absolutely outstanding!! I've always loved the hard pounding, and driving beat to those monsters of Canadian rock, and after all these years they sound just as great! Bachman and Turner, please come to St. John's, Newfoundland. Fred Turner's voice is remarkably strong, same for Randy. Also, I agree with GhostSpectre that is puts the US Superbowl half-time show to shame. Incredible performance!
Yeah I'm an american and for some reason the I love the bands they get for the Grey Cup halftimes way better then the stuff they get for the Super Bowl halftimes.
man BT still have it in them after all those years of playing. they honestly are sounding better than they ever have in my opinion. Thanks for putting this up.
We went to see every performance of BTO in SW Manitoba from their very first performances. Fred Turner is a very under-rated humble performer. When asked who has the best RnR voice by major singers like Sting,Bono,Mick Jagger-they have all said 'that Canadian power house-Fred Turner'. These guys were never in to the drugs, heavy party life so have maintained their voice in to their early 60's. It was great to be a Canadian and listening to BT today in Edm. Notice speaker blowout at 1:49?
Got most of there albums being a Ausie in the 70s they wher my favourite along with led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix love that fender and Gibson guitar sound off🎸🥳👍👍🏝️
Its a crime that these Guys aren't in the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame.
Same goes for Grand Funk Railroad, sadly Katy Perry will probably get in before they do
Here in the USA we are ashamed of our halftime shows. You Canadians Rock!
The CFL was criticized heavily in 2010 for choosing such a vintage act for the GC halftime show. All I know is that those of us who were there loved every second of it.
Abootzky05 Political Correctness I guess??
At least people knew who they were.
I think The Who in 2010 must have burned the NFL with their poor performance at the Superbowl halftime show. The NFL hasn't had anybody decent since.
Old gold is still gold.
Best performance ever at a Grey Cup.
Possibly the greatest halftime show ever. Certainly the best Grey Cup one
The BEST haltime I have ever seen after 50 years of sports. Truly.
Wow.. now that's a halftime show !!!! They sound just as good now as they did in the 70's !!!
Fred Turner's voice hasn't lost anything since the 70s, pretty remarkable given the power he sings with.
I have seen his voice described as "gargling with Drano"!!!!
I seriously remember this vividly, because watching the game, then all of a sudden it was 1973 all over again!
Yup.
Only in Canada do the greats play OUTSIDE at BELOW ZERO!
Caught Justin Bieber a few years later ... just sad ... sad ...
And the Molson and/or Canadian Club he no doubt imbibed!
40 YEARS AFTER MANY OF THESE HITS AND THEY STILL SOUND MAGNIFICANT.
These songs are CLASSIC and could be released as new today and be hits..."Not Fragile" is still one of my all-time favourite records and I still play the original Vinyl edition any time I really want to go back in time to my troubled but musically amazing youth...!
One if the best half time shows EVER
Not easy to play in that cold weather. Fingers are hard to move when it's that cold! Hats off to them!!
but they are hardy canadians
@@jimmyers8939 Wouldn't be a Grey Cup without cold Canadian wether.
BTO the best of Canadian rock music, I love so much , I am from Perú but I grew with their nice songs
Hey NFL Halftime Show selection committee! THIS is what a halftime show should be! Rockin' good music by talented, legendary performers. BTO should be in the USA Rock Hall of Fame!! Or at least Randy Bachman for his work with BTO and before that Guess Who.
Well stated !!!!
Totally agree but I think you can forget the NFL having someone as good as BTO, ever again.
BTO are epic! ROCK ON! THANKS CANADA 🇨🇦
I was a young teenager listening to this group love them ,all there songs are burned into my brain
Love Mr.Turner...phenomenal singer, songwriter, and kick ass bass player
Rock n Roll, Canadian style
ROCK ON Canada! 🇨🇦
greetings from the U.S
Saw these guys last night at the NAC in Ottawa. Both Bachman and Turner are 68 years old but they can still blow the fuc... roof off the house! Awesome rockers.
There was no roof ... the CFL still plays football the old-fashioned way: in the elements. Think the Ice Bowl at Soldier Field ...
This aint no super bowl show, thank god !!!! Just a band doing their hit songs and some fireworks !!!! Wholesome Canadian fun !!!
Listen to FRED rip the shit out it....LOVE it...
Thank you for the Fred vocals itself...
..
Still see him with the caveman beard
Fuckin EPIC
Now, don't it look like they are actually having fun!! Rock on, Winnipeg!!
WOW!! They are classic rock masters!! Still loving then 40 years on!!!!
THIS is what a Grey Cup half-time is supposed to be!
Grey Cup halftime show < Super bowl halftime show rock forever u can't beat a rock show ever
This Is Better than The 2012 Justin Bieber Halftime Show in Toronto.
Me too, it was cold, BTO was outstanding.
the beginning of every song is just an instantly identifiable rif
Hers an idea. BTO, Doobies, Blue Oyster Cult next year halftime at the Super Bowl!
This one of my favorite group, growing up 😊
So much better than the crap that the NFL puts on during the Super Bowl!
Tom Petty, Prince, Lenny Kravitz, McCartney...crap?
@@paulgrey834 Tom Petty and Prince Both Died.
Live in west Michigan use to visit my dad in Pierson my friends and I would drive over to the lake where we could pick up wls in Chicago on am radio yes that long ago it was the first time I heard bto and I have been a fan ever since great highway music
Turner's and Bachman's voices sound incredible! Good for these guys to keep rockin' like this!
Listen kids, and learn !
Amen to that!
This is called "Rock" kids; not like that stuff that that dude with a mouthful of marbles does...what's his name? Oh yeah - DRAKE! (sad head shake)
bachman could be 89 years old in a wheel chair and still outdo todays music
HOT DAM YOUR RIGHT..
amen
Thank you Canada!!! What talent.
Wonderful 🎸 i like to rock whit bachman 👌
Canada's Rolling Stones, awesome guys, timeless!!!
Rolling Stones have nothing on BTO...
Rockin for almost 50 years and still killing it
this man is a rock god wow never be another that can outperform bachman hes a legend
Randy had a rule No Fn Drugs that's why they never and don't miss a beat!
👎Boring 💤
There's something to that...
great band still,, played your music in the 70,s just relived my youth lol
great job guys , top marks to pepsi max for getting you
Now that is a half time show!!!
No overdrive? No problem!
Why aren't these guys in the R&R hall of fame?
Bachman-Turner turned loose a medley of songs that included “Roll On Down The Highway”, “You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet”, “Let It Ride”, “Slave To The Rhythm” (during which a dance team took the field), and “Takin’ Care Of Business”. I wish Bachman-Turner hadn’t retired. We have our own Super Bowl 57 and for the halftime show, we are stuck with---Beyoncé.
Great stuff from Randy and Fred. That "backing" band is fucking awesome.
Oh man, this was EPIC! I enjoyed this more than most Superbowl halftime shows. These guys have definitely still got it!
They alos played and sang it. Unlike the superbowl where its lipsinked.
Bachman Turner together again! Sounded great! CF Turner and Bachman both in fine form.
They are far better than what they have been playing at the Super bowl lately!!!
b/c these /this is REAL!
Donald Hartley no fucking shit
Donald Hartley You can say that again Justin Timberlake could not kiss BTO's boots.
JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE AND BIEBER KISS BACHMAN TURNER OVERDRIVES ASS.
These guys really sh!t all over the BEP at last weekend's Superbowl.
Classic rock all the way.
So much better than the crap the kids listen to these days.
Way to Bachman Turner! Best damn band!
Turners vocals are impressive....this is a classic performance...
9:48 Edmonton,Alberta and -20 C! Awesome performance.
This was like witnessing a reuniting of Black Sabbath or even KISS for me! It totally rocked. BTO is sooooo underrated in America. And in the beloved North they are like Queen in that they are played at virtually everty sporting event . This was just amazing to have been able to witness!
I saw these guys at the Rama Casino a couple of months ago! What a night!!!
They still got it!!!
Best concert of 2010. Saw them at Wolf Trap in Northern Virginia.
The other musicians are Mick Dalla-Vee, far left, Brent Knudson, far right, and Marc LaFrance, drums. All veterans of the Vancouver music scene.
How can Turner still have such a brute voice!
K so I was one of the dancers and practicing with them (the tuesday before) was FREEZING (typical Edmonton.) at -29 C but they were sooo much fun. Best experience of my life. PS. All the dancers r from dance studios around Edmonton and are 16 & under! Loved every second of it
And it shows on the faces of every dancer........
Still awesome
Wickedddddddd!!
Their music is CLASSIC!
Let it roll, You ain’t seen nothing yet, Taking care of business and others still sound fresh just like yesterday. Amazing!
I hear they had a football game open for them.
Great Show! Rock and Roll will Never Die!
You guys were the best. Videos like this brings back good memories
They were the best rockband of all times.
What a wonderful thing.
So much joy.
Yeah I'm an american and for some reason the I love the bands they get for the Grey Cup halftimes way better then the stuff they get for the Super Bowl halftimes.
Long Live Rock and Roll and Long Live BTO!!!!!!!!
A Canadian institution playing at a Canadian Institution!! Awesome.
best halftime show ever.
Way Better than Justin Bieber
man BT still have it in them after all those years of playing. they honestly are sounding better than they ever have in my opinion. Thanks for putting this up.
Absolutely awesome Rock n Roll.
Rock n Roll Hall of Fame how could you not induct BTO and The Guess Who?
We went to see every performance of BTO in SW Manitoba from their very first performances. Fred Turner is a very under-rated humble performer. I saw BTO in Eugene Oregon I think in 1974 or 75, Damn that's been a life time ago but it was an excellent concert!
..oh boy! Brother Bachman and company, showing us how it's done.
R.I.P Jim Clench And R.I.P Tim Bachman And R.I.P Robbie Bachman.
Man I don't know how they played! It was freakin' cold out there. My fingers won't move in cold weather. Hats off to the Great White North and BTO!
Grande Bachman & Turner !!!!!!
this is way better then the black eyed peas at the super bowl, and was probably like 1 50 thousandth of the price.
and waaaaay better than The Who.
BTO rules!
Fucking awesome! Thanks for posting this. These guys still know how to rock. THIS is music!
-14C and bare handed guitar. Winnipeg boys, without a doubt.
Old school Rock n roll......Respect to the musicians....carry on
Omg it looks freezing cold 🥶 God bless B.T.O 🇨🇦
They sure are great band and they look great
Back when music was REAL! .. Geez, what is it, like 15 degrees outside at this event?
