Great coverage on this discussion. I like how you made sure to cover the recommendations, as well as what our equipment does to try and meet those recommendations, such as trickle charge and battery management. Great work!
Did my longest ride so far, 9 miles with a break in the middle. This longest ride temp was 67degreesF with 92% humidity with several hills and used up 52% of my battery power. I did get the advertised 25 miles from one charge in my flat neighborhood at 145 pounds, but it looks like this time I'll only make it to 16miles because of the different demands I placed on it before I recharge to avoid running the battery down too far. It's great advice to remind people to be aware of how various conditions affect the battery's ability to get maximum mileage/charge. I've logged just under 200 miles in the 8 months that I've had my EUC, I'm hoping to get an upgrade in the new year Inmotion v13?? and perhaps send my original in for a tune up, then I can start teaching somebody else to ride so I can have a "community"
Oh well. Thanks for all the tips, very informative. My wheel is fully charged and ready to go…..it’s 36c in the shade here in Italy at the moment…..so I guess I just have to live with it! Theory is always great, but then the practicalities of live arrive. 😏
Haven't watched the whole video yet, but I have around 9000+ miles on my XL over the course of 18 months. I haven't babies the Batts at all. As soon as I come home, I throw it on charge to 100%, then do it again the next day (most days, barring recovery time from a few riding injuries). I'm still able to get 50 miles per charge! I recently replaced the control board and swapped the motor for the 2200 watt version, replaced inner shell, so it's basically a new wheel!
650 miles on my v5f Now 650 on my V11, (Did 30 miles in one day on it recently)Just re-watched this because my v11 is on the charger now & I find this video to be a valuable reference. Thank you! I haven't taught anyone else to ride yet....But my silly youtube channel is up to 62 subscribers!!! I also like to watch your video about curb jumping and about skills a rider should have before riding in the general public. Peace Joy & Love- also I may have just consumed a diet caffeine free coke with a dash of peach & salty caramel Tennessee Whiskey....Cheers- Inmotion would sell fewer wheels w/o you..
Really informative video, heavily discharged batteries don't last long. Remembering they will discharge themselves with time especially when they have done a few cycles, so if you take the winter off put some charge time into that wheel periodically, then charge it to 100% again before you use it.
Point 2 and 5 are actually not totally correct..... Point 2: Partial discharges/charges are good...BUT: You dont want your wheel all 30cycles to FULLY DIScharge, No, you want it to FULLY RECharge, so charge it to full all 20-30 charges. THAT keeps your cells balanced! Balancing only happens at a FULL Charge..... Point 5: It is NOT correct that you should not charge to FULL. Charging to Full capacity gives you about 300-500 FULL charge cycles before any depletion happens. Charging only to 80% PROLONGES the longevity of the cells to 700-1000cycles before depleting. Nonetheless: 300-500 FULL charge cycles with charging to full gets you about 300-500times mulitplied with 50-60miles.....Guess Thats enough. Charging to 80% on our EUC is overrated...makes not much sense. Also: Think about that THEN you MUST recharge to FULL, all 20-30cycles, because your cells MUST stay balanced!! And btw: The slowing down on the last 5 percent is NOT because to prevent overcharging...NO...that is just needed because when the battery gets to 100percent full...the internal resistance of the cells is SO high...that no FASTER charging is possible AT ALL. It is not done to prevent overflow.... The rest is ON POINT...GOOD Video, keep them coming :-)
Any thoughts on temperature when charging? i.e. Should we stick it on charge as soon as we arrive home after a ride, or should we wait for it to cool? If so, what temperature is ideal? I rode round a reservoir in Suffolk with my family at the weekend. We stuck to a maximum of 14mph as we had a Ninebot S2 with us, and averaged 10mph. It was surprisingly hilly for a reservoir trail, but even so, after 13 miles, my MSX was showing 85% battery remaining! So as you've shown here, speed has a massive part to play.
Hi Iain. (The face of the Wheel Life Channel!) So long as your batteries are not raging hot, it should be fine to charge them. On long distance rides we have often charged batteries several times during the day to make sure we have the range we need. As you ride, the air over the wheel should keep things relatively cool, so unless it is a super hot day and you are climbing steep steep hills, it should be fine. However, the advice is to wait until you need to ride it again, and then charge it. Don't charge it straight away and then leave it standing there for days before you ride it. Hope that helps!
Great Video, only watched the first minute as the paint drying video was so much more interesting.! Nah just kidding, keep em coming always fun to watch and love the humour, ps what’s that awful T-Shirt you were wearing at the end?

Jonathan Whalley amazing isn’t it. I’ve not looked at it but its unbelievable what people will watch, I’ll stick with your videos I think. Are you coming the Cheddar?
Great presentation! 😊.. Just wait until Solid State batteries come in it will be a game changer!.. Could be upto 4x the power of Lithium Ion batteries!.. 😁..
I have a question that I haven't seen answered anywhere. When you get back after a ride, the batteries are quite hot, is it good, bad or indifferent to plug in right away, or should let them cool down first?
Did you say you always charge to 100%, because the battery deterioration is almost nothing during that time and you change, that is buy a new wheel, every 2:nd or 3:rd yea? Well, I couldn’t afford doing that, I even believe most of us couldn’t. I need to take care of the li-ion cells.
Hi. Yes. I normally charge to 100%. I have not noticed any serious degradation of battery life when doing that and I have wheels that are 4 years old or more and have done thousands of miles. I don't just replace wheels but like most people, it becomes a bit addictive and before you know it, you have got four or five different wheels and you are still looking at the Eagle S20 and trying to fight the urge to get another one!
I do know the feeling…I’m, for instance, still drooling over an euc with suspension….certainly cannot afford one, definitely don’t need one, absolutely want one…🤪

Sadly there are a few individuals who have a limited view of the value EUCs have. Legislation needs to catch up with technology to remove those final blocks to peoples acceptance of what is inevitable. Plus, if we all ride safely and considerately, what reason is there for abuse and anger?
Thumbs down, because you dropped your phone. I kid, I kid What about riding in cold weather below freezing point? Isn't that bad for the battery? Or did I miss something in the video?
