I've always wanted to see the Sagrada Familia for years.
I finally got my wish last week. April 16th 2016. Aprox 15. 45 hrs local time.
I'm not a religious person by any means. But architecture has always fascinated me, particularly religious buildings.
I walked out from the metro underground, and there it was! I was completely in awe.
I remember walking to the front of the original part, and couldn't take my eyes off it. After a minute or so, I genuinely began to feel choked up. I just couldn't ever imagine the complete beautiful feeling that ran through me. I had no idea where it came from and I certainly didn't expect it, but it completely blew me away. A moment I will never forget as long as I live!!!.......... Inside is just breathtaking
If there's one place in Barcelona, (Camp Nou on a match day is another), I would strongly recommend the Sagrada Familia. Without a shadow of a doubt! Photos and videos don't do it justice until you've actually stood in front, inside and climbed one of the bell towers
.......And I will defy anyone who can say they've seen anything better.
If it's the only thing you have time for in Barcelona. Just do it!
Shouldn't take more than 10 mins on the Metro from the port if you are on a stop off from a cruise trip for instance.
You won't regret it!
The awe you felt toward the building is just a tiny taste of the awe a believer feels toward God which is what the building is designed to evoke. I pray you find the Creator who is infinitely more majestic than his creation.
Brilliant and enlightening: moltes gracies!
Thank you for this Professor and wish you succes on finishing Gaudi's dream. JUst returned from Bcn and the Sagrada, park Guel etc. Nothing, absolutly nothing can prepare one for the feelings his work envokes. Strange as an 53 year old towelcome 2026 but i do. ;-)
Fascinating even if some geometrical details are too harsh for me but absolutely mesmerizing to see hat taking place in this superb Cathedral
Thank you for posting this fascinating talk. The incredible cathedral is definitely on my bucket list now.. The story of the conception and build is as inspirational as the actual cathedral.
It's actually not a cathedral. What makes a church a cathedral isn't its size, it's the fact that it contains the cathedra (seat) of a bishop.
wow what a masterpiece l just loves this monument just as l love my one and only lord Jesus Christ
That's wonderful to hear Ismael. Thank you for taking the time to write to us.
absolutely fantastic!
i have built the domus model of sagrada familia and the canon papercraft model as well
i added my own coloration for the various oval windows wich makes it appear to me a nice addition
I have a degree in architectural studies but not the professional degree i am also a stained glass artist
though a mere beginner compared to your work.
my lack of mathematical knowledge brought my design of my own project a rather complex house built into a hill which resembles an octopus i used the ruled surfaces referred to in your video but the project stalled when i attemped to convert it to cad
i am 71 now
i would like some assistance in making the domus model more accurate
thank you william lindsay
Who else is only watching because of a essay?
This goes beyond architecture, I'm afraid this is the last human wonder we will build, at least for a long time. Great conference, greetings from Brazil.
