Because productivity relies on *Discipline* , not motivation. Motivation is temporary and isn't reliable. Discipline is earned, not given. Discipline needs to be ingrained into our lifestyle, to make sure we do things every. Single day. Work on having discipline and discipline will work for *you*
Motivation is not temporarily. If you want to be a pro footballer you can be very talented but you need to use your motivation to work hard and play and live like a professional footballer. For me productivity is the after thought. Discipline is the being buys and learning why how and what makes your decisions, quality diciscions. Dicipline is earned and indeed not given. But there are many other factors. Like the invironment and climate. The circle of control and locus of focus etc.
I disagree, doing everything with discipline will only get you so far. I believe in structuring and setting things up so you the activities you want/have to to do are the default mode. In a way that you won't have to think about whether you're going to do it or not. I hope this sounds reasonable :)

I 100% agree with this comment - since I stopped looking at what my friends and crush were doing on IG, I felt more happy, content and less anxious for some reason.
Totally going to start calling what was previously known to me as "free time" as "in-between time". I absolutely agree that the rest of the rest of the time isn't "captive" time, but time well spent on the things that I like to spend time on (usually). The words that we use matter, especially when talking with ourselves. ✨
Love the atmosphere of this video! I like the separation of your tasks into different categories (main, small, in between, etc); sometimes, it can be easy to overschedule yourself with a bunch of small things and then not prioritize the things that are most impactful or important at the moment (personal experience...). Love reading the comments, as everyone always has interesting techniques and advice about their own productivity and time management!
You are the most productive person I ever know. Thank you Lana for sharing with us your way of managing the daily schedule. I agree that sometimes we need to take a break and do more relaxing things in between. The Pomodoro technique helped me in finishing assignments efficiently. ASMR cooking - so lovely. I appreciate your cooking skills.
Fred is the cutest!! 😍 Totally agree with scheduling a “main highlight” on the to do list (rather than loads of little tasks you can’t get done in one day). And I like working different tasks in time-blocks too, helps the mind focus a little better… I used to work across different apps like Google docs/ Evernote etc too… but since discovering the power of Notion, I’ve set up templates for my UA-cam workflows and write notes/ store research/ scripts etc all in Notion. thanks for sharing your productive daily routine! 👀
Main Targets For Me: Working out, spending time with my dogs, reading, and writing. All three are important to me because not only do I need to get physical exercise, but, I need to exercise my brain. That’s my motivation.
Lana you are wicked smart and you already know, I know. In one of my older videos when I said I saw someone one UA-cam and I instantly knew... Yes that was you. Nice to meet you...and I love your videos!
Hi Lana it’s really good to know your spiritual self making things go slow living more and actually doing things thoughtfully rare and amazing keep it up
I send you comment again. Your reply with words especially "Stay Incredible" helped me in doing something I had been postponing for too long - visiting a huge city (3M people within the metro area) for the first time alone. On that day, I had sunny weather. ☀️ I had to get out of my comfort zone. Wishing you lovely life, Nathalie.
sometimes I am so demotivated about doing normal things around the house , but after I've kicked myself into doing something I feel much better when it's done :)
motivation is holding a thought at the very front/top of your mind, being productive happens when you dont let other thought Bump that thought away. Procrastination is the act of other thoughts getting in the way, of the thought of doing things you know you should be doing. if you had zero motivation, you wouldnt be doing anything you know you should be doing, thus you wouldn't be productive. So you do have motivation,
I took a very valuable life lesson from something I learned from working out. You can't just exactly adopt something someone else is doing you have to make adaptations to your own life style. If you want to work out, learn a skill, schedule your life etc. you have to come up with something that is theoratically doable for the rest of your life. Changing your diet for the sake of your health is the best example. If you just eat all the shit someone tells you to eat, even though you don't like 50% of the food, of course you won't be able to keep it up. Or if you do a training routine of which you hate every single exercise you won't stick to it for very long and give up. Videos like these are very helpful because they give you knew things to try, but keep in mind that just because something works for someone doesn't mean it has to work for you. Don't give up and keep trying and you will find something that fits your style.
Very nice video, Lana! Also, congratz on the sponsorship with logitech! The part when you showed your scratches and went like "We really don't deserve them." was fun and cute, lol.
There’s simply WAY too many distractions. We have everything faster and easier, we have everything at our fingertips, we have an escape for literally everything at any time. We aren’t challenging ourselves or pushing ourselves. The “easy option” is easier than ever and we’re constantly chasing that “quick fix” type of desire because of social media and how it’s created so much depression in society by making everyone compare themselves to everyone else. I mean look at me right now. Someone said something to me today that really got under my skin on another level. So instead of dealing with it, I ordered food through door dash and now it’s 2:30 AM and I’m still on my phone distracting myself even though I have work in the morning. This is how people deal with their problems these days. That’s why we’re fucking falling apart. Ironically, in a generation where everything is becoming easier, the things we need to overcome to take control of our life, live successful and be happy...are getting harder and harder.
I used to thought motivation is not important, until I experienced phase of extreme 0 motivation, I could barely get done with 30 min work of my normal day throughout the 12 hour working period. I am a software engineer
Hey Lana, what programs are you using for the great bullet point lost at 1:30? I can’t seem to make something so elegant and seemingly effortless Love the idea of calling free time “in between” time by the way. That’s a perspective changer.

I've just got used to writing a to-do list on a small legal pad. It's the best thing for me so far and I think it's better than using a planner.
