    I see some narrow minded people overreacting this review already.
    Not sure why.. The message is clear, wear an airbag if you want to, no one holds a gun to your head for stopping you to buy one, but be aware of the passive safety too... You people should appreciate these guys honesty..
    I am 100% sure Chris and the guys would have not made his video if they purely just wanted to trash this tech.. sure they would not stock it.
    I think it's a great review with all the details you need to know... Buying or not, is always your choice.
    Keep up the good work guys!

      100% agree with you. Think some people have spent lots of money on airbag vests and don't like hearing another side of the argument so getting their jimmies rustled by the sounds of it!

    I’m a big fan of the concept of airbag vests. I haven’t owned one yet but this year looks like the year when I’ll either get a jacket with internal airbag or a standalone vest to wear underneath my existing or new gear. Quite simply, airbag vests are revolutionary in motorcycle PPE. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t ride any differently with an airbag. The usual naysayers will poo-poo airbags, just as they did for helmets.
    For me, it’s just about figuring out which airbag system now. Alpinestars tech air 5 has better shoulder and side rib protection. In&Motion has better neck stabilization. Each has different policies on replacement and inspection. Then there’s Dainese, Helite, Hit-air etc. All with a different approach. Which is best? I don’t know at this point.
    Well done, Chris. I don’t mind you bringing up your personal opinion. Each of us will have our own “risk profile” and biases. How much ergonomic and comfort compromise we’re willing to accept to maximize protection? How much time are we willing to take to “suit up” before a short trip or long trip?
    If you look at RST’s full line, they offer airbag vests in 11 different suits and jackets. Simply maths shows us that RST adds £200 for the airbag compared to the non airbag equipped item. A savvy shopper might see they can rent 1 “brain” and put it in the jacket or suit that they decide to ride that day. So, for example, for £1500 you could buy a 1 piece leather suit, a leather jacket and a textile jacket AND rent 1 box for them all. That £1500 is the price of one textile jacket from some companies.

    We all have to decide how much (or little) riding gear is appropriate. I know guys that have ridden for 20+ years in jeans and T shirt without any issue. It's an adult decision and there's really no need for anyone to get upset over Chris' opinion. At least, he has an opinion and this is not just a bland shopping promo like so many pretend reviews. I appreciate your honesty. Next time I'm in the UK I'll be coming in to visit your Guildford store, you've gained a new customer here.

    Very well balanced and structured video. the opinion is stated as an opinion and not matter of fact but is backed up by your reasoning for it. and yet when you talk about the actual product you do as you would any other product. I know you guys at ML don't stock anything you don't believe in keep up the good work guys!

    Great review, thanks for the really useful information Chris and the team. I feel much more informed about the air bag issues than I was before. I also see that a few folk are unable to listen to sensible and clear views reasonably put. Happily, none of my biker friends are like that

    You are a bit wrong with the alpinestars vest. You just go to an authorized dealer service center to have the vest repack. Also race suit airbag do not deploy both air canister, it has a purpose. If you go down on a track day. It allows you to still be protected if you go down a second time.

    Airbag jackets, great idea. Leasing the thing that is supposed to make it work through a bluetooth connection, absurd. What if you crash and it doesn't go off - court case (assuming you are alive)?? Where is the independent data on whether all of that actually works or, indeed, is any more successful than a Helite system in on road riding (rather than track and professional racing). I can't find it. £90 to reset the bag will guarantee noone tests it out of curiosity.

    When you reduce the subscription you decide how long to reduce it for. So if you decide to suspend for 4 months you cannot re activate until the 4 months is up. So Chris is kind of right but you couldn’t decide after 2 months suspension to re activate if you have chosen 4 months.

    I wear a Helite vest.
    1. You are right about breathability, but the vest does allow some air to move around it. I live in a hot climate, and if it is over about 85 F (30 c) it is uncomfortable, especially if it is humid. Then I take it off. Owning one does not mean you always have to wear it.
    2. I disagree about feeling safe makes you ride more recklessly. I am sure that might happen, but the same argument was made against ABS, linked brakes, traction control, disc brakes.
    3. My vest is in high viz so I get three benefits. Visibility is one. The air bag itself is two. Third is that it has a pouch for a back protector, so I can move the back protector out of the jacket, so if I want to go in somewhere I don’t have the uncomfortable back pad on. That is especially true if I am wearing a thinner leather jacket.

    I've had the denaise airbag vest for 3 years. It's good but there are a few niggles, if it fails there is no physical back protector in so I always wear a d30 back protector just in case. I find it too warm even over a mesh shirt ( knox urban pro) and it is bulky around the bottom back. It's good but I watched this video and bought the rst fusion and it's great, very comfortable and I'm impressed. I will keep both denaise for under bellstaff wax jacket and the rst for most of time. Rst should increase range ( fusion not everyones cup of tea )

    Very annoying and pedantic that you feel the need to ridicule the notion of wearing an airbag.

    • @Motolegends
      @Motolegends  3 роки тому +10

      You need to remove the wax from your ears. I most certainly did not ridicule airbags. I say this is the safest leather jacket on the market. I conclude by saying how impressed I am by it. But, quite reasonably, I say I don't think they are for me. I cannot but feel that it is a little bit bigoted to respond in the way you have. It is totally unjustified. Finally, I don't want to be pedantic, but don't use the word pedantic if you've got no idea what it means.

    • @norbert_engel

      @@Motolegends google the full meaning of the word and re-watch the first few minutes of your review✌️

    • @Motolegends
      @Motolegends  3 роки тому +7

      What I said in my review is irrelevant. Your sentence: ‘very annoying and pedantic that you feel....’ displays a misunderstanding of what pedantic means. Your sentence makes no sense. It is incorrect. I don’t know what you were aiming to communicate by using the word in this sentence, but there is no sentence construction in which it would be correct to say: ‘it is pedantic that you feel’. Better at times to formulate what you want to communicate and then use simpler words.

    I believe this airbag will only be activated in a head on collision, where as the Alpinestars for example will be set off in a rear end impact when stationary, a low side and high side as well as a head scenario.
    Can you comment on this?

    Unbelievable, Every excuse trying to stop you wearing a proved item of safety clothing. I will follow Chris's advice I will make my daughter take her air bag vest off the next time we go riding. I will also remove my air bags/seat belts/ crash protection electronics from my motor car. That will stop me taking risks and feeling invulnerable while driving my car. I actually purchased an item of clothing from Motolegends last week. Following this video I will not be buying anything else from them that's for sure.

      You clearly haven't listened to a word that I have said. I talk very explicitly about passive safety and active safety. All I did was draw a line for me. You can always wear more and be safer. You wear a heavy leather suit whenever you go out. You wear big off road boots. You wear level 2 armour and then you wear an airbag over the top. Do this, however, and you may well be very protected but because you will be uncomfortable beyond belief you will almost certainly increase your chances of having an accident in the first place, especially in extreme conditions. I make it clear that I am a big fan of this jacket. I merely stated where the line was for me; that is all. For the kind of riding that I do, I don't want to wear an airbag jacket. I have also made very clear that it will be different for other people. How you got from what I said to the inference in your response simply beggars belief.

      @@Motolegends Unfortunately I listened to every word. Using your words it beggars belief to me that you were doing your best to put people off riding with an air vest or jacket. Also to state in your reply that it would "almost certainly" increase your chance of an accident. Well I will just leave it there and let others decide for themselves. But as I said that's enough for me buying from Motolegends.
