Ah, yes. Mr. Bojangles. I had a 12-string. Swapped for a 9-string that works for me, especially running bass lines. (Both E's and are singles). Works for some John Denver songs also. I try to sing upbeat and uplifting songs, no drinking, running around , killing or loss of love. That's because if you get memory care folks down or sad, they are more of a challenge. I try to get them smiling. The 12-string had too much tension the last time I had fretting hand issues. I use a few 6-string guitars for alternate tunings (like open G or D). I usually play finger style.
That Harmony certainly projects! Interesting how a 12-string seems to enhance the atmosphere of a song. Definitely switches up the tone and texture of a performance. I had a second-hand Yamaha once but didn't really know what to do with it. It certainly had a foible or two so I went along with someone else's suggestion that they were one-trick ponies. Turns out the answer is to try lots of songs.

Hi, a bass player I worked with in one of my best ever bands used to tell our audiences that it was very dangerous to be in a folk or blues song!
Oh man I was getting into that tune Guilty!
Hi, thanks, here's a version I played on a six string : ua-cam.com/video/WcDSQE5nZBY/v-deo.html
Paul wrote that partially when visiting us in Hoosick Falls NY during the 1960's...
Hi Joel Paul who - which song?
@@SillyMoustache Paul Siebel and Spanish Johnny. He was a very close friend who passed several years ago. Sorely missed.
@@joelgevirtz6181 Ah, Yes, of course. Did you know that he adapted a poem from the 1800s ? See: allpoetry.com/Spanish-Johnny
@@SillyMoustache yes, I believe it was a Willa Cather poem.

yes, it is like having an echo chamber. I reckon 12 strings are easier than 6 strings because you don't have to so so much!
I imagine you put on quite the entertaining performance. Your use of several styles of music is what makes great show. George in Montana
Thanks George, but I don't get gigs any more.
I guess the saddest song I sing is "Happy Trails" because they know the session is coming to an end.
Ah, but who is ..... "they" ?
