Still a mathematical chance going into Abu Dhabi of finishing 3rd in the championship. As I said mid season getting consistent results can keep you up there as everyone else is taking points off each other.
@@willf1sv5 I appreciate drivers have to push to find the limits, however when the grip isn’t that high and George expects the car to stick by taking that much kerb, he asking for trouble. Not to mention, he’s just seen Alex have an incident at that very corner.
@laurierastogi3512 Maybe I'm being harsh when I say but over these last 2 seasons it's not a surprise to see Russell having a crash. Even in Australia about half a lap before he crashed I said he's erratic.
@@willf1sv5 I don’t think it’s that harsh to say that, Russell does have an error in him. People say Leclerc is like this, however how many crashes has Leclerc had this year? Hardly any. Russell on the other hand; Canada 2023, Singapore 2023, Australia 2024, USA 2024 qualifying and now Mexico practice. I’d even throw in Canada 2024; poor race craft and cracking under the pressure.
@laurierastogi3512 Leclerc crashed in Hungary practice didn't he? 🤔 I was at London FE double-header that weekend so I might be wrong on that one. Apart from that and Singapore Q3 Leclerc has been bulletproof this season. Leclerc's last erratic weekend was the 2023 Dutch GP. Q3 crash and then got into some scraps in the race and retired with car damage. Even 2022 it was only Imola and France that he screwed up and minor errors at Belgium (pit lane speeding) and Japan. Apart from his season in terms of his own performance was bulletproof. Ferrari screwed him out of 5 potential wins that season. Russell was on for 3rd at Las Vegas 2023 but decided to ruin that by turning in on Verstappen. Canada 2023 crash caused him to retire from that race ultimately.
@@willf1sv5 I actually feel like Albon’s getting worse. I know the 2023 Williams was a decent car, but the only noticeable error I saw of him was Australia that year. This year he’s not quite with it 😞
@laurierastogi3512 Yeah agreed. Starting to think that 2023 Williams was a better car than what people said. Put Tsunoda and Hulkenberg in that car and they replicate Albons season I think. Maybe a bit more so with Hulkenberg. Albon did have a lot of silly tracks limits infringements later on in the 2023 season.
@laurierastogi3512 Yeah I always though that 2023 Williams car was the 7th best car. Albon was the 8th best driver at best that year, definitely cannot put him any higher. Even before Canada that car was good enough to score points in a few races.
I do feel like Albon was a bit unlucky to have encountered Bearman at that point of the track but my god, the amount of damage bills that Williams have accumulated from Albon, Sargeant and even Colapinto (Colapinto at Baku) is unacceptable.
Lando Norris is already on his final warning with me, I think you can guess what's coming 🙄😂 Ruined his race by not defending hard enough in Turn 1. That McLaren car was as quick as Ferrari today I believe it not quicker.
In a way I'm sort of glad we have these crappy sprint races this year because Norris has bottled everyone so far and Max has won all 4 of them. Think Max would have a 39 point lead or so if we had no sprint races. A DNF for Max and a win for Lando (+Fastest Lap) next race would leave the gap at 13 points whereas because of these sprint races would still leave the gap at 31 points. I still don't like sprint races but this year they've guaranteed that we don't have a weak champion.
@@willf1sv5 I know Russell has been better than Hamilton this season and that he’s lost points from Silverstone and Belgium through no fault of his own but if he was really that great, he would have outscored Hamilton in the standings and he hasn’t.
@laurierastogi3512 Yeah agreed totally. If George really was that great he wouldn't have made so many silly errors like yesterday and would have a margin over Lewis in the championship despite Britain and Belgium. I've said multiple times this year that the problem at Mercedes is the drivers half the time if not more. I mean I've given Russell 4 Of the weeks this year and 5 equals a final warning. Russell probably finishes 3rd at best at Britain if he doesn't DNF that race. Would've been close with Norris for 3rd at the end I believe. Belgium he effectively lost 32 points to Hamilton. Yeah that's nearly 50 points but that doesn't excuse how erratic and inconsistent he's been at times this season.
People are now saying COTA was only the 2nd time Hamilton has taken himself out a race in his career. Canada 2008, Italy 2009, Italy 2010, Belgium 2022 and Qatar 2023 all exist for a start along with other races where he finished outside the points because he bottled it. People just seem to pick and choose what the remember and what they don't. Or should I say extreme bias.
You seem to have a very good memory for facts. I am the same, my Asperger's helps me with this. I just think people forget. Don't get me wrong, there are a fair few deluded Hamilton fans, but I think some people genuinely forget those errors even happened. Ultimately, his success far outweighs those errors. Admittedly, Italy 2010 and maybe you could say Singapore 2010 were costly for Hamilton.
@laurierastogi3512 Yeah helps me as well that. I mean Italy and Singapore 2010 cost Hamilton that championship tbh, even finishing 4th both races would've been enough for him. Always felt he and Webber threw that championship away tbh. Vettel had by far the most bad luck of the contenders that season. Tbf you have a point about success making some people forget some errors but ultimately the big ones are the ones you'd just naturally expect everyone to remember.
