Hi Sam if I'm not mistaken it's already started. I understand that there needs to be adverts. I sometimes get the impression that UA-cam is anti fun. I feel that UA-cam does not care for the people using it's platform and it seriously needs some competition.

Sudden loud advertisements in the middle or end of a story/meditation will cause me much anxiety less likely to be able to fall asleep. You tube needs to realize... I pay attention to pre-roll adverts & creator sponsors... but I turn down the volume & skip all the post-roll adverts & would NEVER buy ANY post-roll advert products ever... So they're actually hurting themselves & the advertisers as well. :-(

@@SoulMeadowOfficial Agree - but for the time being, ads can still be kept out of the middle of stories, meaning that a solution for the time being is so make each video longer than average sleep time etc. You're right - it is not ideal, but if it's not this obstacle we must negotiate, then it will be another elsewhere. It's the way content creation works at the moment, as you'll know. We'll be grand! S x
Solution... EVERY video needs to be 12 hours long... so by the time the post roll advert occurs, we're already up & starting our day!!! (won't help with mid roll adverts)

It seems like this would just drive creators to alternative funding sources instead of using Google ad revenue which wouldn't be good for Google. Kind of a lose-lose scenario. Maybe sleep channels are a small enough part of the Googleverse that they don't care? But in that case, why not just leave it the way it is for sleep channel creators? Sigh.
I'm sure they have their reasons, but yes - it must not be much of a concern. If this change can generate another $million for each Mr Beast video, then I doubt they'll care about losing a $million for all the sleep channels combined. S x

I listen to some chanels that have ads in the middle and some ads just make me jump because they are so loud. I listen to sleep stories, asmr channels, audiostories and documentaries about history.
I signed. I listen to sleep meditations and wake up during a comercial because my brain says somethings not right. Then its up to the bathroom, adjusting covers, cpap, earbuds, pillows and another 1/2 hour -hour of lost sleep. Thank you so much for your sleep meditations
This is the worst possible news I could have seen. This is distressing. I rely so heavily on the sleep channels. I'm so upset. They need to leave stuff alone!! I couldn't be without the channels or have the vids interrupted. I'm unwell as it is and to have anything disrupt my lifeline feels beyond cruel. Edit: Petition signed and comment left!
Thanks Amalia - there are options for us all still, which I am exploring, aside from the obvious: If you CAN afford to pay for ad-free viewing, and you feel it is worth it, then it is a true game-changer. I don't know what this would do to your income from Ads Sam, but would it help if your listeners use an ad block like Adblock Plus while listening to you, and do a 'buy me a coffee' instead. Just a thought. I'll sign.
A good idea in theory, but unfortunately if the ad is blocked, the analytics see this as exactly that - therefor if everyone used ad blocks, it would be the same as showing no ads, ie, no income. It's a good point, though. And thank you.

There are a lot of things UA-cam, Google and other platforms (such as social media fb/instagram) should not be allowed to do such as censoring. There is Rumble which is more for open for free speech but does not have playlists, at least not that i could find. Im not sure if the Rumble app has ads or not, I do not use it very often.
Omg surely they won't i cant sleep without them. They should be getting rid of the shorts thats what's ruining youtube .all recycled garbage from tiktok is taking over it. Save our sleep stories.😊
Sam, one of my ASMR channels says you need to label your videos as a "SLEEP AID" ... this is supposed to "eliminate" any post roll adverts ... so if you want to experiment, maybe make a shorter video & warn all of us viewers to be aware of a possible post roll advert ... then we'll let you know if it worked. ;-)

I mean honestly If you consistently use YT, just shell out for UA-cam premium. I mostly watch on my tv and it if you use YT every night for sleep, the least you can do is spend $10 or equivalent, you get no ads. If YT goes under, where will you go? So just pay a bit for 0 ads😊
UA-cam premium is where they want people to go, ultimately. I agree - if you can afford it, it is worth it. I have made sacrifices so that I can limit the number of ads I face daily. It is without a doubt, priceless. I know some will find it hard to find the cash, but yes - it is the best way if it can be done. S x
@@SnoozewithSam to me to like…if you regularly watch more than 4 hours of YT daily, then, I guess from my moral perspective, you ether choose to live with the ads you’re given or pay to make them go away. If someone is more of a casual viewer like 20 hours a month, I would understand their hesitancy, Some ordinary gamer did a pretty fair discussion from both sides on his channel where he explained both from the consumer and company POV
The petition specifically addresses sleep videos, which have a different purpose than entertainment or educational content. Sleep, ASMR, and meditation videos are only a small portion of UA-cam content; meanwhile a large percentage of the general population is affected by sleep disorders, anxiety, and sensory issues, with few free resources available. Many can’t afford $11.99-$18.99 per month. UA-cam can surely improve its very large income by increasing ads for other types of content while making an exception for this particular and necessary niche. Incidentally, out of moral conscience and fairness, I do watch all 30 second ads in “normal” entertainment/informative videos to benefit the creators and help keep UA-cam running. It’s an affordable way to contribute.

As far as I know, Rumble doesn't do this. A lot of creators are going to Rumble as UA-cam becomes more and more oppressive.

I listen to some chanels that have ads in the middle and some ads just make me jump because they are so loud. I listen to sleep stories, asmr channels, audiostories and documentaries about history.
I feel you, though I hope most relaxation channels avoid this. S x

This is the worst possible news I could have seen. This is distressing. I rely so heavily on the sleep channels. I'm so upset. They need to leave stuff alone!! I couldn't be without the channels or have the vids interrupted. I'm unwell as it is and to have anything disrupt my lifeline feels beyond cruel. Edit: Petition signed and comment left!
Thanks Amalia - there are options for us all still, which I am exploring, aside from the obvious: If you CAN afford to pay for ad-free viewing, and you feel it is worth it, then it is a true game-changer. I don't know what this would do to your income from Ads Sam, but would it help if your listeners use an ad block like Adblock Plus while listening to you, and do a 'buy me a coffee' instead. Just a thought. I'll sign.
A good idea in theory, but unfortunately if the ad is blocked, the analytics see this as exactly that - therefor if everyone used ad blocks, it would be the same as showing no ads, ie, no income. It's a good point, though. And thank you.

Indeed dear Sam 'us creators are grateful to yt', they do make money of the creators as well i think? it would be so nice if people are happy with 'what they have', they (big firms) want always more, it's so bad for society's 😢🙏. Yes! UA-cam premium offers ad free viewing. As well as a Spotify equivalent music service included. It was a no brainer for me. S x
Signed. As someone who literally just started building up a channel myself.... this is not great news. Fingers crossed UA-cam will understand how this will impact not only it's creators and viewers, but them as well, if views start dropping because of intrusive ads in all the wrong places.

There are a lot of things UA-cam, Google and other platforms (such as social media fb/instagram) should not be allowed to do such as censoring. There is Rumble which is more for open for free speech but does not have playlists, at least not that i could find. Im not sure if the Rumble app has ads or not, I do not use it very often.
Omg surely they won't i cant sleep without them. They should be getting rid of the shorts thats what's ruining youtube .all recycled garbage from tiktok is taking over it. Save our sleep stories.😊

Sam, one of my ASMR channels says you need to label your videos as a "SLEEP AID" ... this is supposed to "eliminate" any post roll adverts ... so if you want to experiment, maybe make a shorter video & warn all of us viewers to be aware of a possible post roll advert ... then we'll let you know if it worked. ;-)

I've had an explore through the options available during a video upload (of which I am very familiar anyways) and I can't see anywhere it is possible to label one's videos as a sleep aid. I mean honestly If you consistently use YT, just shell out for UA-cam premium. I mostly watch on my tv and it if you use YT every night for sleep, the least you can do is spend $10 or equivalent, you get no ads.
If YT goes under, where will you go? So just pay a bit for 0 ads😊
UA-cam premium is where they want people to go, ultimately. I agree - if you can afford it, it is worth it. I have made sacrifices so that I can limit the number of ads I face daily. It is without a doubt, priceless. I know some will find it hard to find the cash, but yes - it is the best way if it can be done. S x

The petition specifically addresses sleep videos, which have a different purpose than entertainment or educational content. Sleep, ASMR, and meditation videos are only a small portion of UA-cam content; meanwhile a large percentage of the general population is affected by sleep disorders, anxiety, and sensory issues, with few free resources available. Many can’t afford $11.99-$18.99 per month. UA-cam can surely improve its very large income by increasing ads for other types of content while making an exception for this particular and necessary niche.
Incidentally, out of moral conscience and fairness, I do watch all 30 second ads in “normal” entertainment/informative videos to benefit the creators and help keep UA-cam running. It’s an affordable way to contribute.
